MUTANT DAY SPECIAL

Change by Impatience
By Taleentheraptor

Docile Draik upon the hill
Suffers the sun's worst
Searing rays of bright sunshine
Quickly spark his thirst

Suddenly he finds the glass
Filled with murky slime
Unaware that this rash act
Would cause pain in time

As the cold glass touches down,
Anxious his lips quiver
Icy, it soon penetrates
Sending through him, shivers

Down his throat and past his bile
It stirs up his stomach
Then so violently it climbs
Riding back up his neck

Flames are born within his brain
And the fight commences
Fire washes over him
Smothering his senses

From his fingertips it soars
Flooding through his life source
Then at once it hits his heart
And swiftly it transforms

Bright red blood turns bubbly black
Crimson muscles tighten
His soft eyes turn yellow and
Suddenly they brighten

Claws likes scissors soon evolve
As the shift continues
Spines burst forth atop his spine
Skewering his sinews

From his agile tail explode
Spears that quickly puncture
Tissue falls, making his wings
Skeletal in structure

From his noble brow erupt
Mounds of soft pink pieces
Just when pain reaches its worst
Suddenly it ceases

Shocked and filled with shriveled hope
Draik expects disaster
He looks down upon himself,
Patience his new master

Docile Draik, a lovely thing
Was robbed of his graces
Punishment was soon received
All for lack of patience

'This is such a silly tale'
Some of you may think
But beware of quite a scare
From your favorite drink!

Happy Mutant Day!

The Loyal Mutant
By Togepi_forever

Neopians come to laugh and jeer;
Make fun of my twisted face
No one stops them or protects
The mutants in this place.

They think that they are better than us,
Crowned kings of their own realms.
Against us they bring their armies,
Raise their swords and don their helms.

Why do we offend them so?
Our messed-up eyes, my twisted face?
They would have us gone forever;
Vanished, then, without a trace.

How we are is not our own fault -
Blame Frank Sloth, that cruel man.
Forced us to drink those foul potions -
All were made by his own hand.

So please forgive us for what happened,
Open up your hearts and homes.
If you let us into your lives,
From your side we'll never roam.

So behold the loyal mutant,
Always willing to defend
Those willing to care for them
The loyal ones they call their friends.

A Mutated World
By Kitokat_mh

A distorted, deformed body,
A dark and twisted mind.
A lonely, sad existence,
In which they are confined.

Morphed by a cruel potion,
That made them look so strange,
A horrific taste that caused them pain
And brought on their awful change.

Outcasts of society,
Unwanted and disdained.
No one in Neopia can
Understand how they are pained.

You may look upon them and flinch,
Or quickly turn away.
Or maybe even flee in fright,
But never would you stay.

But these are gentle creatures,
That would be safe and kind,
If you only stopped and listened
To what was on their mind.

Those that you call 'mutants',
Are just like you and me.
But look a little different,
And gain no sympathy.

Don't judge them by their outside,
Meet who they really are.
Because you might make a true friend,
Even if they look bizarre!

Transmogrification Terror
By Anjie

A putrid potion bottled up,
In flask of darkest hue.
The vial filled with evil source,
A gift from Sloth to you.
Bubbling potion, brewed from hate,
True malice is its core.
For Sloth's intent is far from good,
That beast all do abhor.

A wisp of magic in each batch,
Within that potion, grim.
For Sloth seeks mutant pets galore,
Who'll meet his every whim.
A battle force of mutant form,
Transmogrified, each one.
Sloth's evil plans may come to be,
His plotting, never done.

One sip of that repugnant brew,
Then watch in great dismay.
As pets before your eyes do change,
So wicked, this display.
From sweetest form to horrid beast,
Into the dark, they slip.
Changed forever with that gift,
So altered with one sip.

A Mutated Life
By Knoxigami

Skulking, lurking in the dark,
Safe from judging eyes,
A timid creature, forever wrapped
In his hideous disguise.

Late at night, so long ago,
A potion dark he found,
Giving off an eerie glow,
As he picked it from the ground.

As he turned to go he thought he heard,
In the silent, heavy night,
Laughter, cruel and echoing,
Someone hiding far from sight...

A substance of great power,
Sat within his hands, he knew,
So caring not for danger,
He drank down the foul brew.

Eyes shut tight, his stomach turned,
His flesh began to swell,
Skin boiled as his new form grew,
And to the ground he fell.

When at last he woke and looked around,
All those around him cried
"A nutant, look! How horrible!"
And to the hills he fled to hide.

Remembering with bitterness,
Their grimaces and fear,
The little Shoyru sits within his cave,
And sheds a lonely tear.
