The bright and shining color
Of a finely tinted wonder;
Oh, sometimes I infer,
If everything could be that way!
The purest water of Neopia
Is a sparkling and elegant topia,
Where the colors of the world come to breathe.
But now the colors have faded,
Into what they could escape in.
The haven dry and hollow,
With the sound of many sorrows.
But the magic still remains,
And we can only hope it rains
The wonders of the seven-colored brush.

A Day in the Glade

Deep in a misty forest
Where dark things seldom dwell
There lives a wise earth faerie
Who casts the kindest spells.

Tall pine trees covered in dew
Stand outside her door
Nestled in a mossy den
Upon the forest floor.

Her hair is dark, her eyes bright
Shining like the moon
And with a smile and a laugh,
She waits to grant more boons.

Slowly, softly,
Leaves begin to crunch
Scattered on the forest floor
Beneath the coming bunch.

Hooves, paws, and claws in awe
Stop outside the den
And many eyes rise to meet
Their gentle faerie friend.

Illusen smiles and welcomes them,
Arms outstretched to greet her friends
And as the Neopets converge
Their happiness transcends.

Greetings cast, the time now comes
To hand out many tasks
The pets all wonder if they'll find
Toys, food, books, or masks?

From the Uni she wants a carrot
From the Usul she wants a kite
Two Krawks must find a blossom
And a sword with which to fight.

And as they leave, excitement high
Illusen waits with gentle eyes
For the first proud pets' return
Expectant for their prize.

Happily she takes their gifts
Setting them aside
And then she hands out many things
As the Neopets' eyes grow wide.

Cream cookies and large green combs
Are what the newest get
While seasoned quest pets will receive
A staff, the best prize yet.

Soon enough the sun sinks low
Preparing for the night
Reluctantly the pets depart
Waving with all their might.

Illusen smiles and shuts her door
Settling for the night
Waiting for the next day to come
With the pets who make her days so bright.

Sitting on a weathered rock
Dreaming I could fly;
I contemplate life's cruelties,
While a Slorg just oozes by.

He doesn't know I'm sitting here;
Doesn't know that he could die.
He doesn't think and feel like me,
The lucky little guy.

Ignorant of war and hate
Never dreamed that he could fly.
Has no future, has no past,
He just eats, and sleeps and tries.

He's never witnessed broken dreams,
Never laughed, he's never cried.
He's never loved or played with anything.
Never tasted cookies, cakes, or pies.

Ignorance is bliss.
So they tell me, do they lie?
Can you live life happily,
If you don't know how or why?

"Oh well," I sigh while standing up.
I'm sure everything will be just fine.
As long as I step carefully,
so I don't squish the little guy.
