The Mystical Knight

Through sinuous dark forest path
In spectral silence slithers he;
In flowing cape and breastplate clad
A valiant knight, appears to be.

And some have stories old of years
That speak of brave, courageous feats
Performed by he, who banished fears
From darkened towns' once-haunted streets.

Yet shadows dark would beg to tell
A different tale of this knight,
Of deeds so vicious and so fell
That even ghosts shudder affright.

The stories spoke of horrors wild,
Performed by one on evil bent;
A Hissi, wicked, fierce, and vile,
Who stalked the woods with foul intent.

Yes, of this knight, tales few are versed,
And those that be, are ancient still;
Is he a legend... or a curse?
None knows...and likely never will.

Night on Terror Mountain

Cold. The night is cold
Wind creeping along the ground
A blizzard screaming outside the window.
In a house of dancing firelight
A bowl of soup in hand
We endure the biting winter.

The gale taps on the windows
Rages in white fury
Throws itself in desperation
At the roofs of sleeping houses.
No more than hardy logs
The house outlasts the frenzy.

Sleet sings as it falls
Sliding down icicles
Like so many tears.
Sharp, pointed icicles
Forbidding, threatening
Those that stand underneath.

Flurries spiral, terrible birds
Sharp beaks of hail, rapping at doors
Spreading wings of force and freeze
Inside, we shiver under warm blankets
As the roof creaks, complaining
Of such a heavy load.

Sun, shining beacon
Smiling, stroking the dawn
With fiery fingers.
For it is a new day
And the night on Terror Mountain
Has passed on.

The Tax Beast

The moon provides a shadowy blanket,
Across lustful slumbering lands,
But one creature lies rigid and awake,
Clutching coins inside his clawed hands.

A passion soon turned twisted and sour,
Until he was all consumed with greed,
Transformed into a snarling monster,
The most horrific sight you've ever seen.

No time for friends or pleasantries,
No concern for playing games,
His money is his only joy,
And causing sorrow, grief and pain.

He'll be knocking down your door,
So just hope that you have enough,
Because if you can't pay the price,
He'll find a way to make you pay up.

He'll loom over you
With fisted sharpened claws
And snarling pointed teeth,
Bellowing tremendous mighty roars.

So if you see the Tax Beast,
You could try to stay away,
But this greedy, twisted monster,
Will find you all one day.

A ship's low hum,

The captain idly steering,
For merry whims his game.
An eccentric Aisha he's known,
Alien Farvin is his name.

Landing to Neopia,
Farvin strolls, features unfazed.
The sound of laughter and splashes,
Averts Farvin's gaze.

Gormball, they dubbed it,
A game of pure chance.
The captain engulfed in this spectacle,
Worth more than a passing glance.

And so it began,
Farvin played and played.
A great saga of wins!
Would it ever fade?

Champions were startled,
At Farvin's acquired skill.
Fans utter his name in delight,
Gaping at his lucky will.

A moment of daring,
Farvin won once more!
Cheers and sneers speckle,
Adding to his hefty score!

A passing fancy,
Farvin victorious!
Space rogue he once was called,
Now Farvin the glorious!

The Ballad of the Black Pteri

In the midst of a storm
The lightning flashed bright
Dark and forlorn
The Haunted Woods
In its darkest hour
Malicious it stood
In the somber foggy hour

So began the Black Pteri

Lightning cracked
O'er diamond dark form
And so he hatched
Heart black and torn
And flew through the night
On powerful wing
Terror and fright
Hear baleful music sing

So was born the Black Pteri

Hunched and foreboding
Perched on twisted limb
Stalks his victim motionlessly
Silent and grim
As if in a dismal trance
But ever omniscient
In a coiled viper stance
Ready to strike in an instant

So hunts the Black Pteri

A shriek of desolate misery
A caw of woebegone despair
Alone in the wood sorrowfully
Let it be known, beware!
Let him not haunt you
With iron talon and beak
With his mournful ruse
For it is you he seeks!

The ways of the Black Pteri

Forsake the wooded path at dark
Guard yourself from sinister shadow
He is the malignant ones' monarch
And feeds upon your sorrow
Swift as the wind doth he strike
Relentless is his temperament
Fierce, ruthless and warlike
He is the one that Doom hath sent

So reigns the Black Pteri!
