It wasn't very long ago
that I opened my door to see
a mob of hapless quest-doers
and a letter from you to me.

I don't smile enough, according to you,
and I should learn to have fun.
To prove your point you drew smiley-faces
and even sent me a bun!

Not a single word on my hairstyle,
not a single word on my might.
I have crowds of scared admirers, you know,
and all you care about is if I write!

So here are my greetings, Illusen:
Your cuisine tastes worse than clay.
And frankly I think your smile is disgusting
but all the same enjoy your day.

Illusen's Glades

Within a glade of dappled light,
A crystal stream is flowing;
Birds sing in their dancing flight,
A fragrant breeze is blowing.

Aromatic shining fruits
Hang taunting overhead,
From trees that rest on gnarling roots,
The green grass is their bed.

No sound but for the swaying trees,
The rustling jewel-bright leaves,
Which stir alone from cool spring breeze,
The warmth of spring relieves.

Or does something move on mossy ground,
A willowy form of green,
Which wrapped in mottled light around
Has blended in unseen?

Two almond eyes glint over cheekbones high:
Amber mixed in green and blue,
Shine around the diamond eye
With iridescent hue.

Skin fairer than Maraquan pearl,
Unwrinkled as fresh snow,
Flashes as flowery wings unfurl:
Ferns in white soil grow.

The hands with slender fingers peaked,
The tunic made of plants,
And auburn hair with green braids streaked
Whirl with the faerie's dance.

Now bathed in golden sunset light;
A freckled face appears,
Heedless of the coming night
And of the shadows' leers.

Illusen, faerie of the glades,
Is songbird at her core;
But as to purple daylight fades,
Illusen sings no more.

Illusen Day Celebrations!

In forests old and glades of green,
All woodland starts to wake,
A song is borne upon spring breeze,
And there can be no mistake.

The trees all seem to whisper
As she treads the forest floor,
Neopets wake excitedly,
It's Illusen Day once more!

Meridell's Faerie Guardian
Is loved above them all,
For her compassion to all Neopets,
Whether large or very small.

Mothers take their children home,
To make them look their best;
"Wash your paws, and comb your hair...
This day's not like the rest!"

Every food in Meridell
Is heaped in bowls and plates:
Berries, bread and steaming stew,
Tables creaking with the weight.

All is dressed in leaves of green,
Spring flowers fresh and new,
Seem far more fair upon this morn',
Like they're joyous too!

Anticipation fills the air,
It's a time for cheer and play,
There's joy around Neopia-
Have a wonderful Illusen Day!

Snowflakes on Illusen's Glade

Resplendent jade, the outstretched boughs,
That grasp at drifting sky.
Tiny flowers face the sun,
Soft petals silken, shy.

Illusen, keeper of the glade,
Would greet each day anew.
Within the world she did create
Were endless tasks to do.

Dawn one morning, did not come,
With blazing sun's soft gleam.
Alabaster flakes did fall,
In endless, chilling stream.

Winter in Illusen's realm,
The ice embraced the trees.
Babbling brook would sing no more,
The water would now freeze.

No folk did traipse the weary road,
To seek a helping hand.
Ivory did coat the grass,
And softly lit the land.

Perplexed, the faerie settled down,
Beside the fire's glow.
What would she do without her quests,
Stopped by the fallen snow?

No pets would come to plead their case,
No tasks she might demand.
To deal with winter's icy realm,
Was not something she planned!

A gentle sigh escaped her lips,
The view though did enthrall.
Relaxing with the fire's warmth,
She watched the snowflakes fall.
