MERIDELL DAY SPECIAL
Heroes and Legends
By Alyndasgallery
A land once though of as a myth,
A place that time forgot.
With fields and meadows spreading wide,
Rivers with purest drop.
In troubled times they nearly lost,
A fight with evil bravely won.
The villagers were filled with fear,
Thought that the end had begun.
A land of legends strong and bold,
A land of heroes true.
Held together through struggles,
When a time was oh-so-blue.
When Darigan forces were held back,
Their armies crushed and beat.
Behold! What tales and legends were
Heard shouted on the street.
Now stories are told to celebrate,
You probably know them well.
The many heroes and legends of
The land of Meridell!

Meridell Forever
By Algebraica
The dashing green extends
O'er each rolling hill,
The glorious expanse
So serene and still.
Speckled across the grassy land
Flourish cherry blossoms, furry trees,
Savored by the humming Buzzers
Gliding in the breeze.
Uncountable aromas liven it all,
Of musty taters, sodden peas,
Yeasty dough, aquaberries,
Soggy boxes, honey cheese.
The green subdues in even patches,
Earthen rows of ripening crops,
For farmers' labor we are thankful;
They feed the vale and fill the shops.
Rising above the calm land,
Grand, might towers cast a shade,
Forever vowing to fend the dell
Should enemies invade.

A View of Meridell
By Anjie
Flags upon the turrets fly,
Within the wind, they dance up high.
The pastures stretch forever green,
Dear Meridell, a sublime scene.
The castle stands, alone and grand,
The center of King Skarl's fair land.
Within those walls of pristine white,
We'll meet Jeran, the bravest knight.
And through the arch of firm stone door,
Strange scents from Kayla's potion store.
An eerie dungeon's far below,
Where those so wicked seem to go.
Across the land to distant east,
Turmaculus awaits a feast.
Look further near the emerald shade,
The haven of Illusen's Glade.
Bullseye dwells not far from here,
Where arrows into targets spear.
On emerald hills they roll the cheese,
Avoiding boulders, bumps and trees.
A Mortog game, a Petpet stall,
Fair Meridell doth have it all.
A land now resting, soft, serene,
It's Meridell, a charming scene.

The Battle of Meridell
By Peanut02395
We're crying now, these tears fall down,
Mixing with the pouring rain.
Hear our wails, hear our song,
Soon we will begin to drown.
Glassy eyes, glassy stares,
Numbness fills our every limb.
Silent waves and mumbled prayers
When what we need are dragon slayers.
Now we begin to dance,
Our blades are flying 'round,
Swifter than a spear or lance,
Here we take our chance.
Shadows we are and Shadows remain,
In a world of black and white,
Throaty calls and joyless strains,
Do nothing to wash our bloody stains.
Warriors here in this haunting world,
Trees that live and talk and walk,
And a floating castle claims the board,
With this cursed chess game's horde.
Now we are on fire once more,
The rain steams on our backs,
We rush forward with one voice, one roar,
One single purpose drives us now.
Onward and upward into the citadel,
Following the emerald star before,
Water streams and we can't tell
How many of our comrades fell.
A scarring battle, no chance to run,
The evil Darigan has flown,
Leaving behind this skeleton,
The striving now is finally done.
Peace will come to this land of words,
But I will see it not,
I will live in solitude,
And rest without my sword.

Ballad for the Valiant Gone
By Dreamhazer
'Twas three hundred years ago -
Yet not brushed from history's mind -
When great war came to Neopia
And greatness fought with tine.
The enemy snuck in through dark,
To mighty home of the crown
Breaking through the castle guards.
In just a day - razed to ground.
But not everything was so easy -
They met resistance on the way,
The old potato hermit fought them hard
But fell anyway -
'Twas the cries of turtums
That awoke spirit in the rest.
So, they gathered at Illusen's glade
And chose to do their best.
Forks raised high, and torches lit,
All to defend their happy home,
The country folk awakened
And fought hard for their king, the throne!
And though the effort valiant,
And though victory, I'd wish to say -
They lost...
Alackaday.
This story of their valiance
Will live on forever, though.
For this was the Last Stand of Meridell -
And we all most thank the fallen on our own.
