A Poem of the Poor
By worldclassartist
It was just the other day
when things seemed so bright,
the world was filled
with joy, happiness, and inspired delight.
But with a hungry tummy, ghosts who steal,
a wishing well that doesn't listen,
and games that take money,
what is a pet to do?
You could write a poem
or auction off your shoes,
or try your hand at poker
to raise money for some food.
The Stock Market costs too much money
when your pockets are lined with lint.
You could buy a laser beam
and plan to rob the mint.
You could buy a lottery ticket
but what would happen if you lose?
You may be poor
and on the down and out,
and wear an ugly frown.
You might be sad
and hope the rich
help the poor side of town.
Don't worry friend,
opportunity is close nearby.
Pretty soon you'll be fun and fancy free,
a socialite, and extremely wealthy.
Better things are coming your way,
keep on hoping
for that better and brighter day.

Lament of the Aisha
By slasher06
The others said that I would be adopted
The masters would comb my fur, and pet me
I eagerly awaited the day
When I too could be adopted
Then one day I was
And went home with my Master
For a while she fed me, petted me and loved me
But then the affection stopped
In the evenings I'd rub up against her
Asking what was the matter
But she'd go play with her new Nimmo
That she got last week
It was hard
Sharing the affection
With all of her pets
I was getting old
(About a month, by now)
So she decided that she
Would rather have a new pet
Another Aisha; perhaps this time blue
So she grabbed me by the collar
And we hustled down to the pound
Where she paid them 80 np
To take me away
And now I sit here
Alone in my corner
Remembering the days of...

The Treasure of Friendship
By elusivestar
Wings of gleaming sapphire scales
Bear this dragon up in flight
To sprawling cloud castles
And hidden vales
Of this mighty Scorchio's realm
Elusive Beast wandering to and fro
Seeking the treasures foretold
Of precious jewels
And items of power
By the seers and keepers of stories
He searches the valleys of sun-bathed emerald
And the spiralling turrets of cloud
In pursuit of the powers
To make him strong
Yet never finding the jewels of power
Wings once spread in radiant strength
Then failed him in his quest
And then this beast
Fell to the earth
Not finding the treasures of lore
Then arms outstretched caught the Scorchio
Before he struck the ground
And when this beast
Looked into her eyes
He found the treasures he'd sought
So now she became his caretaker
A gentle companion who walked the land
For the gifts he sought
Of love and friendship
Lived in this person's heart

A Known Feeling
By myumew
As the waves crash at my paws,
I look over the endless waters
where the sun sinks like a ship.
Have I come here in search of you,
or is it you who looks for me?
Creeping up, tugging on my tail.
I turn to see deep brown eyes
looking back at me.
I know what it's like to be alone,
For I too once had no place to call home.
I find my mom and hold you up to her.
She smiles back and nods
Now we never have to know
That known feeling again.

The Story of Balthazar
By topleka
The beams of sun shone on the seashore castle
The waves glittered
As if sequins were falling through
The trees stood tall, the clouds were white
The castle was beautiful too
And deep inside, a restless stir
The Faeries waited for their Queen
Hoping for a quick glimpse of her
And the babe who would be King
Then came the Queen, a smile on her face
A young healthy boy in her arms
He was the new Prince, born of Faerie and Man
Possessed with human strength
and faerie charms
And as the Faeries gazed in awe
The room fell dark and cold
All felt a chill they can feel still
When the Darkness Faerie strode through bold
She grabbed the child from the mother's hands
And held him like a shield
And her voice boomed out across the lands
Through every forest and field
She laughed and smiled, and the Faeries stared
None dared to try and save the boy
The Dark One grinned, and disappeared
Along with her, the poor Queen's joy
So began a quest of every able hand
To find the Queen's young son
But the Dark Faerie had long disappeared
Before the search begun
She raised the child in a darkened cave
And planned to use him to take control
She tought him the ways of the Faerie maids
And how he'd play his role
But her evil quickly spread through him
And he craved to take control
So one day, when she turned away
He took a bottle from her shelf
And he crept close, and kept so still
The Dark Faerie found she'd caught herself
Then the young lad took off like a flash
And traveled near and far
And so capturing any Faerie he found
He became known as the great Balthazar
