Grey
By Heva666

Dark and grey and out of place,
Shadowy gloom across his face,
He slunk along the cheery street,
A curse upon the grass so sweet.

Inappropriate in Faerieland,
Incongruous in Brightvale so grand,
In Tyrannia, his skin so bland
Stood out at once from caramel sand.

He roamed and roamed, an outcast it seemed,
Upon his face the tears just streamed,
No place to go, to call his own,
And on he wandered all alone.

A faerie Kau did flutter by,
Cheerily she waved, said hi,
But did not stop as she was proud,
To have her home up in the cloud.

And so as the sun began to set,
The Maraquans left for their houses wet,
The Tyrannians opted for houses dry,
And faeries of course in the sky.

But the grey Chomby, no place to go,
No land for him that's full of woe,
Just crept into the darkest place,
To hide himself, a grey disgrace.

The Glass Chain
By B_e_n_d_i_s

A tendril gracefully arched,
with a careful glance, sped
with a rather distintive skip
as it entwined with its others
its brethen, its siblings, laced
with care, laced with power,
laced with magic.

Oh, what is the eye that seeks
the apple? Or what is the apple
who seeks its eye? Of how
many of the pets I've known
who've spent their lives
looking for their meaning
and gaining no meaning at all.

And what of those who spend
their life? Settled deep in their
nests on the sides of the countries
The battling countries, the warring
countries? They had not searched
for the gelert who'd fit in a
nutshell. Nor did they search
for the potion who'd give them eternal
life. They searched for none,
and yet, recieved all.

What do you think of that?

And oh so, as we continue
what do you think of these two
chains I'd fastened upon
your wrists? What of these
beautiful things hand-crafted
with care?

Beatifully carved, the sculptor
sharpened his tools carefully
with preciseness, with slowness--
painful slowness, ever so painful.

The left one was hot and smoothed,
carefully wedged pictures
upon its glassy surface, smiling
maliciously at its creator

The right one was still soft, wedged,
ugly, a dull olive green sitting
placidly next to the sculptor,
who hummed a song
a song of beauty
a song of peace
a song of those who filled the world
with their
happiness.

And what of it, you say? The left
is the one of those who are
tricksters in a king's court,
those seated high and almighty
with a robust chin, those who
sweetly lace their words
with sugar
with honey
with lies.

Like the left chain.
Like the evil scientist.
Like those who control the world
Like those who cannot control themselves.

Sloth. Death. Kass.
The unknown.

And -- oh, and! What -- of those
of the right chain? Those
of a soft heart,
of a kind heart,
of a pure heart?

Those who gather, those who
may be furiously dented,
furiously messed and furiously
changed, beaten and worn--

Those that will conquer all
in the end.

But remember.

They're both chains.

Song of the Draik
By Laurelinden

In early hours of the morn
When new day's sun is still unborn
The song of Draik wakes golden light
And stirs the dawntide's flooding might.

A Draiks' sweet notes sing sun to rise
And flush the life into the skies
Harmonious arc across the day
A lilting tune of chords he plays.

Through sun's travels his song he sings
The wind echoes, the waters ring
Each leaf, each grass-blade years to reach
Toward the Draik's musical speech.

When evening shadows thread the night
When stars glitter in pale moonlight
A Draik smiles as branches sway
And with the breeze hums close of day.

Protectors of Neopia
By Earthfaeriegurl

The deafening winds and heavy storms,
Danger is admist,
The murderous water and vicious waves,
Smites you with its fist.

The angry clouds and lightning bolts
Stare at you and wait,
Scared, and worried, and confused...
Why do they hesitate?

The freezing cold and murky clouds
Start to fade away,
A sense of warmth and happiness
Sweeps along the bay.

Captured in the ocean floor
In gates of pain and fear,
Evil scratching at the door
Begins to dissapear.

Looking down and watching you
Are faeries by your side,
No matter what you have gone through
You never ever have to hide.

A Thief's Life
By Songful

No quiet path I choose for me
But one of ceaseless wonder;
To travel far and journey wide --
I wish to trick and plunder.

I thrive on risk and danger --
I go where road might guide;
A winding course I see ahead
Where gold and jewels reside.

And to the trail I always stray
No home have I to name;
As life on foot is never dull
And no day stays the same.

I follow my own motto
And take what I attain;
No guarded stash is safe from me --
The world is my domain.

My life is plain and simple,
Of treachery and cheat;
As honesty is not the way
And thieves go by deceit.
