KOI DAY SPECIAL

Song of the Pirate Koi
By Stariell

Grey of fin and black of heart,
I swim the ocean blue,
Do not try to make a friend of me,
For I will not be true.

Maraqua lies behind me now,
The place where I was born.
Pirates ripped the city apart,
Now my allegiance is torn.

I've pilfered and I've plundered,
Stolen from rich and from poor,
But never returned with dark intent
To the home I knew before.

Can I attack Maraqua now?
It is the Pirate's duty.
My scurvy comrades swim ahead,
To claim their rightful booty.

I am a pirate, and a Koi,
So which path should I choose?
Whichever side I fight upon,
It seems that I must lose.

I'll turn and leave, I cannot stay,
Across Neopia I will roam,
For this choice I cannot make,
Between Pirate heart and Maraquan home.

Lament of the Plushie Koi
By Laurelinden

Oh, bright was the day
I lived in the sea;
(Its glimm'ring expanse,
Its infinite stretch)
And oh! The cool waves
Surrounded my scales,
Shining, reflecting
The gold rods of day,
And breaking into
Flashes of sparkles
Like the millions of
Tiny fish around.
'Twas then I was free.

And now is the day
I'm painted plushie;
(Oh cruel stitches,
And fast-moulding cloth)
Those beckoning waves
Must call unanswered;
The once-welcoming
Waters now destroy
My fragile binding;
The salt eats away
At each colored patch.
In your depths, my sea,
Cloth scales cannot shine.

Soliloquy of Snot
By Ladyariel32

With dripping scales of noxious snot,
Wide, coal black eyes unblinking,
A daredevil Koi steals the scene
As he somersaults while crooning.

His raucous voice fills all the sea,
Catamara stop with perked up ear
To listen to his rhapsody,
A soliloquy that's none too queer.

"Great big globs of snot," he sings,
With a showy flip of his tail
"No need for crown or pair of wings
Like Meuka, I will not fail!"

He shakes his fins to a tune unknown
Sending snot in all directions,
Kikos scurry and Leebles moan
At the sight of the repugnant contagion.

The Koi speeds up and rushes onward,
Leaving snot beads marking his trail,
And startled pets caught off guard
By his uncanny feat and tale.

"Great big globs of snot," he sings,
A warm tenor a distance away,
"No need for crown or pair of wings
I'm a king in my own way..."

The Ghost Koi
By Kitokat_mh

Floating through deserted seas,
A swimming terror in the night.
Appearing with red, glowing eyes,
Then disappearing out of sight.

It strikes fear into the hearts
Of both Pirates and Maraquans.
Will it steal souls or sacred scrolls?
No one knows its plans.

In complete silence it does drift,
Amongst the rippling waves.
Into the Maraquan graveyard
Where it weaves between the graves.

A sinister being up to no good,
But no one knows from whence it came.
It roams throughout the seven seas,
A wandering spirit with no name.

This ghostly being says no words,
But it's something everyone fears.
You may spot it in the murky darkness
Before it slowly disappears.

So keep an eye out whilst in Maraqua,
Or you will have an awful fright!
As a curse is said to dwell on those
Who behold this ghostly sight!

The Trouble With Being a Sponge
By OdeliePie

I'm a Koi made of sponge,
And I live in the sea.
Though I'm unique,
Life's not easy for me.

When other Koi see me,
They laugh and they joke.
Some come right to me,
Very cruelly, and poke.

Then there's the problem
Of water retention--
I soak it all up!
How to stop it's the question.

I've tried tape and glue,
Corks and some cotton.
But nothing I've done
Stops the water from soppin'!

Despite all my problems,
And though it's no fun,
It could be much worse:
I could be made dung.
