The Wheel of Monotony
By Grawpy10

When passing by Tyrannia,
There's a sight that you should see,
A wheel above all others,
The Wheel of Monotony.

Only costing 100 Neopoints,
The wheel is a fine quest,
Although it spins for hours,
So you may sit down and rest.

As the shiny wooden wheel
Turns right before my eyes,
I start to feel quite drowsy,
And a cramping in my thighs.

When will it stop spinning?
How long will I have to wait?
For my prize to be awarded,
Or will it be too late?

Maybe my prize is a book,
With knowledge throughout the pages,
Or will it be some food,
That's been around for ages?

I decide it's time to leave,
And I walk off hopelessly,
With the dirt kicking up from my heels,
It's the end of monotony for me.

Balthazar
By Blueofnight

A sinister darkness through shadow does prowl,
Of vengeance, of greed and a long nasty howl.
His smile speaks of evil as he patiently waits,
For the creatures that in him
Drew such horrible hate.

They flutter and glitter and sparkle at night,
Carelessly dancing in the midst of moonlight,
But faerie, be warned, because not very far
Is an infamous Lupe and his many glass jars.

Watch for his net, fly far from his claws,
Quiet your light, block your ears from his roars.
This Lupe knows no end, and the faeries he holds,
He sells on the market for a profit in gold.

So faerie, beware, don't be caught in confusion,
Else you'll find yourself captive
In a shiny glass prison.
A bottled faerie you'll be,
And passed through the shops,
Freed from Balthazar only
When someone opens your top!

Sssidney
By Kikiluao

As I walked up to the scratch booth,
my Neopoints in my purse,
I considered whether I should go or not,
but I thought that would be worse.

He approached me first today,
with an eerie sort of smile.
"Don't you want to buy one?
With the prize, it will be worthwhile."

I nervously handed him the price,
and reached out with nervous fear.
He took it and handed me my card,
smiling ear to ear.

"Oh, now go ahead! Don't be shy!
It won't bite... much..."
He laughed, and I held it closely,
but it seemed cold to the touch...

I scratched the top right corner,
and there lay a ghastly money sack.
I smiled, faintly, but clear, no doubt,
never looking back...

I scratched again,
this time in the middle.
I looked at it closely...
a blank! Oh, fiddle!

I then scratched the other corner,
looking at what was there.
Joy! I needed one more moneybag,
but which spot did I dare?

The middle left? The middle top?
I chose the middle right.
I gently scratched, closing my eyes,
and hoped with all my might!

I peeked, and stared, unable to move,
for there lay the one I needed!
"Jackpot!" Sssidney shouted,
"Now, don't be consumed with greed!"

I held my sack,
so happy and filled with glee,
I took the money and shouted out,
"Hip-hip hooray for Sssidney!"

Grey Faerie, Grey Sky
By Arial333

And through the darkened shades of grey,
The fluttering color fades away,
As distant as a darkened cloud,
With whispered name not spoken aloud.

A tattered cloth will hit the wind,
When wings are to be spread again,
And though they are not ready to fly,
The freedom gives her at least one try.

She smiles as the sun begins to rise,
Through dusty hair and tear-filled eyes,
And though she no longer has a home,
She now knows, she's not alone.

The Poor Neopian
By Scubalucy

I may not have a zaptwig,
But I have a lightning gun.
I may not have a faerie doll,
But this yarn ball sure is fun.
I may not have the greatest stats,
But I can stand my ground.
I may not have a painted coat,
But red I think looks sound.
I may not have a Neohome,
But this shop doorway will suffice.
I can't afford expensive gifts,
But gifts don't make you nice.
I may not eat gourmet food,
But the Soup Kitchen is free.
I may not read that many books,
But dim that doesn't make me.
I may not hang around celebs,
But my friends are the best.
I may not have a cuddly Petpet,
But I just couldn't care less.
I may not have that many things,
But that doesn't bother me,
For the best things in Neopia
Are definitely free!
