PTERI DAY SPECIAL
The Rainbow Pteri
By Stariell
Deep in the jungle,
Near a wizened old tree,
There's a flicker of colour,
Moving too quick to see.
It flits through the branches,
Then soars up, flying free,
Brightness from the shadows,
The rainbow Pteri.
Never going unnoticed,
Amidst the leaves of dark green,
Such vibrant plumage,
Was just meant to be seen.
So on a high treetop,
The Pteri stops to preen,
Each rainbow-hued feather,
Red, blue, yellow and green.
Just how to describe it?
I couldn't even begin,
It compliments every colour,
But never quite blends in.
This unique little creature,
Stands out from all its kin,
Brown, cloudy and plushie,
Even mythic Darigan.
With such a dazzling appearance,
The rainbow Pteri can't be shy.
As it has no way of hiding,
However it may try.
But why would it wish to?
Much better for it to fly...
Clouds of rainbow feathers,
Painting the sky.

You've Never Heard of Pteri Day?
By Rabid_Stitch
'Twas the eve of the eighth
When I heard you say,
"I've never heard of Pteri Day."
So I've written a poem for all to see,
About this species which is dear to me.
To the trees of Tyrannia they like to go,
A pop-up box did tell me so.
Tricky, sly and conniving are they,
Watch your back or you'll be their prey.
Pteris love to fly and spread their wings wide,
From great heights they can see to either side.
A handy thing for a trickster to do,
For a prank needs a victim, like me or you.
It seems not all have fun on the mind,
For you can often find one of the evil kind,
Like the Pteri who sits on the maintenance page,
Who knowingly puts many in a rage.
So now you know why I was in such shock,
That you had never seen a Pteri flock,
Or even heard of their important day,
'Cause of this species I have so much to say.

Pteri Wise and Old
By Loupgarou
Through the woods, climb up a tree,
Limb by limb to discover me.
Caws and coos from the sky
Will let you know I am nearby.
Sit on a branch, wait a while,
Now I watch, this is your trial.
If your patience serves you true,
A bit of my wisdom I will grant you.
For many come for my advice,
Wisdom and knowledge, they do entice.
Many clouds through which I've flown,
Have shown me all that is to be known.
An old Pteri I may be,
But I shall speak honestly.
Ask a question if you dare,
And I will answer if I care.
With these words, unease abate,
Nothing frees us from the twine of fate.
So you came all this way
Just to hear what I could say?
A Pteri wise I may be,
Lived have I for a century!
And by flying through Tyrannia fair,
Wisdom have I gained now shall I share:
Work we for our lives to spin,
Work and work but never win,
So do not come with questions absurd,
I will not answer, not this bird.

Pteri's Treat
By Tree_rhymer
High up in Tyrannia's trees,
Where dwells our feathered class,
Whose tricks are sure no treat to face,
If by there you ever pass.
Their caws and cackles fill the air,
The mischievous little brutes.
They even mock you playfully,
With laughs and snorts and hoots.
These little feathered villains
May act all stern and tough,
But they're really fun and playful,
And that shines through the bluff.
They have small but sturdy wings
That carry them in flight,
And dainty, gripping, claw-like toes
For holding them upright.
Their belly feathers are a creamy color,
And softer than a Babaa's hide,
But their tails are jagged and whip-like, too,
On every razor-sharp side.
If you like quick-witted Neopets,
Who are smart and teasing, too,
They'e funny and neat, owning them is a treat,
Then a Pteri is for you!

Ode to Pteri
By Mew2xx
In the deep jungles, in a land far away,
A bird, oh so swift, tries his prey,
His species is Pteri, which now you see,
Not really big, but not a small pea.
His wings shine, like the lustre of a knight,
They glow with gold, silver, and white.
He leaps from the tree that he's standing on
To catch his food, this is his pawn.
He swoops down low, to the stream,
And catches the meal, without a dream
He gobbles it down, with all his might
Now he sets off, and goes back to his flight.
