Old Bessie

'Tis not a farce the story of Old Bessie,
she grew in the lands of Meridell.
My picture of the marrow is proof
of the story I now tell.

But two years ago did I plant her,
with love and tender care,
and sang to her each day,
until the ground did tare.

Out of the dirt came Ol' Bessie,
wasn't she a beaut?
She was a bright green marrow,
beautiful and cute.

I took a picture of us both,
and then invited the whole town,
we dined on marrow for 2 straight years,
she weighed 5,000 pounds.

Bessie left me 8,000 seeds,
I plant them in my lands,
if you guess my marrow's weight,
a prize is in your hands.

At Petpets everywhere in sight.
Flightning Bugs and a Zelly,
Which one will be right for me?

Warf, no doubt is very true,
They stay loyal through and through.
Sweetest Flouds they never stray,
Loving my pets day by day.

Buzzer friendly, Buzzer smart,
A loving pal will never part.
Uniocto floats along,
With this one I can't go wrong.

The Harris, though often shy,
A better friend I'll never find.
Snorkle out looking for fun,
One of the best under the sun.

How to choose which one is best?
This puts me to an awful test.
The store closes and I still stall,
I guess I'll have to buy them all!

The Beauty Contest

So my owner can draw me
Is there at all
A chance I may win?

I shake my tail
My owner has finished
I slurp some Neopian ginger ale
And run off to the guild

I advertise my contest entry
So that everyone would see
The happiest pet of the century
I hope I soon will be!

Next stop:
I run there quickly
Would certainly be our shop!
Here too I write my message,
And then away I hop

Next week
I run very quickly
The "Current Voting" I seek
Nothing there, I realise,
Much to my surprise!

Then I see,
The contest's over!
To "Past Winners" I dart
But I'm not there

Not even in species.

Why spend hard earned money
To improve your pets' looks?
Instead, make them smarter,
Try buying them books!
Though it may be nice,
All the paint, make-up, and glamour,
Your pet needs a chance
To escape from such clamour.

A book is by far the most wonderful find;
A whole world awaits if you use your mind.
Travel to places both unknown and far,
Learn how to swim, be a super rock star!
All this and much more, in a book it awaits!
The story's the key, and your mind is the gate!
By now you must wonder of where to get a book?
The answer is plain, all you need is to look.

Shops are the key, so convenient and simple!
Find them in Faerieland to Neopia Central!
With so many around you,
It's hard not to buy one,
Choosing your favorites, that's half of the fun!
You may find a book that your pet will not read,
But you shouldn't worry when there isn't a need.

Simply sell it, or trade it,
For something more your pet's taste.
Why, it'd be a shame to see
A good book go to waste!
Some books are quite cheap
Displayed in the store;
Buy an extra copy, and use it to get more!

But be warned, some books have a higher price,
Then it's off to the Shop Wizard,
Who's so helpful and nice!
He can find any title within a shop.
Just keep asking and asking,
You don't have to stop!
But what are the rewards
For having your pet read?
Must I explain it, is there really a need?

Why, your pet will be smarter,
And if many books you can afford,
There'd be even a chance
Of winning the "Neopian Book Award"!!
What's more, your pet will be happy,
Because reading is grand!
So, now, make a trip, to the nearest bookstand!
