Kougra Day

Prowling through the jungle
Is where we like to be
Sunning ourselves in Mystery Isle
Is where we can be free

Sleeping throughout the day
Hunting through the night
Meeting other Neopets
And seeing all the sights

For your average Kougra
That's all in a days work
Playing in the sand
And going quite berserk

But today's a special day
One quite different from the rest
Today it's time to party
In your best evening dress

So get into the swing
And celebrate today
The Kougras' happy birthday
They're really here to stay

Kougra Day Adventures

Hurry! Hurry! Get up quick,
Already a minute has past!
This is what my pet cried,
When I was fast asleep,
He was dancing 'round the room now
And doing some giant leaps!

First we went to Faerieland,
To get my pet a pet!
Already it was full of Kougras,
Who we'd already met,
My pet raced into all the shops,
Came out of one very proud,
"Thank you Daddy, now I am,
An owner of a Floud!"

Then we went to Mystery Island,
(My pet wanted to take the tour),
But then we snuck off from our group,
And decided to explore!
I was very scared though,
So I held my brave pet's paw,
We saw some scary Neopets,
But I was saved by my pets roar!

Thirdly on my pet's special day,
I promised him a treat!
It's really gonna make you glad,
From your head down to your feet!
WOW! Thank you Daddy,
You really shouldn't have!
I do love you so,
What's the surprise you ask me?
Well you will never know!

Baby Kougra

When looking out over the Mystery Isle
There is a sight that will make you smile
A little baby Kougra pawing away
With a new yarn ball, ready to play

She'll push it gently with a paw
Watching it unfurl with absolute awe
Her big bright eyes will just look on
As it rolls slowly across the lawn

You peer at her movements without a sound
As she gets in position on the ground
In the blink of an eye you see her spring
And pounce upon the unsuspecting thing

On the yarn she eagerly gnaws
The ball held firmly in her jaws
As she does, she gives an upward glance
Then she sees you watching in a trance

Her eyes meet yours and she drops the ball
She sits up, ever proud and so tall
Those irresistible eyes beckon you near
But you withhold from a hidden fear

Do not cower, she will not hiss
In fact if you're lucky, she'll give you a kiss
Her lovable face you'll gladly greet
She's the sweetest Kougra you'll ever meet!

The Beginning of Kougra Day

It was late in Spring,
And Neopia was in a clamor
"Who's the King of them all?"
Everyone would stammer.
"The perfect pet, that's who we want."
They all gathered together,
Each pet, to flaunt.

"I'm the most expensive,
and rarest to boot,"
Said the Krawk,
But his point was moot,
Claimed the rare Draik,
Who thought HE was the best
Owned by the rich,
He was better than the rest.

Courage was claimed by the Eyrie and Gelert.
While Unis and Usuls knew how to flirt.
Korbats could fly, and Koi could swim,
Everyone thought the best was him!

"I'm clearly the smartest," said the Lenny
"Prove me wrong, and I'll give you a penny."
Everyone scoffed, and talked at once,
But the Kougra stalked away from the bunch.

She knew she'd be the perfect Queen,
With claws so sharp, eyes so keen,
Regal demeanor, a graceful stride,
But the little Kougra went off to hide.

The Kougra hid in a big green bush,
'Til someone behind her gave her a push.
"Who is that?" said the Kougra,
And turned around quick,
The JubJub started to cry,
Its tears rolled down thick.

"The fighting scared me,"
The JubJub cried
"You.. you're the best,
Put an end to their pride.
I know you can do it,
I believe in you.
Your abilities are endless,
Your heart is true."

Well, the little Kougra sat up straight
As her courage returned,
Her fear started to abate.
"Thank you, JubJub," the Kougra said
"I don't know what got into my head."

She leaped out of the bush,
And jumped right in.
Her stern, piercing look
Quieted the din.
"Quiet everyone!!"
She roared so loud,
That all the pets
Gathered in a crowd.

They glanced around,
And they knew who had won,
They crowned Kougra Queen,
And made the day fun.
The 22nd day of Eating
Was officially Kougra Day.
And that's the whole story,
All I have to say.
