Cotton-candy clouds turn
Pink throughout Faerieland
The sky is striped with blue and gold
A fiery ball lifts up through the mist
It ascends the horizon
Looking so bold

Meanwhile my Gelert
Is out in the fields
Wreathed in the soft pink light
Watching the berry-red orb cross the sky
In its own magical flight

While the sun flies o'er
My Gelert is thrilled
Beyond what he's ever been
He leaped through the air
Without ever a care
Just a wonderful feeling welling within

The berry red orb
Still flew across high
Leaving red streaks
All over the sky
I then saw my Neopet soaring beside
My Gelert's pure joy
Could not be denied

He flew far and wide
With the sun at his side
And disappeared into the sky
I never saw him after that day
And though he's happy so far, far away
Every night I still want to cry

Out in the fields of the Marketplace,
I could feel the wind
Beating against my chest,
Sprinting at my own pace,
I could hear the sounds of pets
Barking, squealing and shouting,
Begging for toys, and food and games,
And I felt even more thankful,
That I was not tamed,
That I did not walk on a leash,
Or ride in a car,
That I did not have to visit
Some dumb old bazaar

Instead, I ran free all day,
With my ribbon-like tail
Whipping back and forth with joy,
And my strong, red paws, running my way,
Still, at the same time,
I could see a Buzz cuddle his owner,
As she gave the shopkeeper a dime,
And I suddenly wished I could be that Buzz,
With a mother,
And a bagful of Fuzzles

I could still see the forest that lay ahead,
And the pack of Gelerts that waited,
By our filthy dung bed,
I now looked two ways,
At a life of love and a mother,
Or the wild old times
With my Gelert pack and brothers,
But the decision was pointless
For I knew the answer,
I ran to the pound without looking back,
I know I betrayed my home and family,
But maybe someday,
They'll come live with me.

Prancing through the fields,
As elegant as a queen,
My Gelert will shine.

Her cloud-covered coat
And that glimmer in her eye
Will always charm you.

Blending with the clouds,
Without the slightest chuckle,
She will surprise you.

Gelerts are caring,
And will never neglect you.
They'll always be there.

A cold little nose
Will greet you in the morning,
How can you resist?

Treat them with respect,
And feed them little candies,
Gelerts love to play!

A long swirly tail
Will swing along as they sing,
"Happy Gelert Day!"

The Gelert is a noble pet,
Its namesake stout and true.
Their handsome appearance
Is matched by very few!

Their tails are like ribbons,
Long and very shrewd.
Their snouts are large and powerful,
They can devour lots of food.

Their paws are like great hammers,
Pounding in the earth.
A Gelert always stoutly guards
His family's own turf.

The Gelert's ears are sharp as knives,
Picking up sounds from afar.
They can hear, from miles away,
A pin drop in a jar.

Their eyes are full of honesty,
Trust and loyalty.
A Gelert will always treat you,
Like you are royalty.

For, to a Gelert,
Riches matter not.
It's things like love and affection
That a Gelert's got.

My Gelert is a fine one,
She's loyal, stout and true.
She was my first Pet,
And her name is Shelleylou.

I love Gelerts, the pet whose name
Is very hard to rhyme,
Whose unquestioned faith and loyalty
Have been known for all of time.

They're boisterous and they're rowdy,
With energy to spare;
Considerate and caring,
These pets are always there.

They laugh and joke and lift our hearts
When we are feeling down,
And all our cares are lighter
When these pets are around.

Although there may be some who think
That this most noble pet is dull,
This unenlightened few's opinion
We shall consider null.

It's Gelert Day today, you see,
And we will all rejoice,
And bless the day we all did make
The Gelert our pet of choice.
