Neopia is enveloped in a grey cast
We have no idea how long it'll last
No one knows what to say
It's truly a hopeless day

Everyone's sporting a pout
Feeling the true weight of burnout
Not to make any fuss
But what is left for us?

No enjoyment to be had
Is that really bad?
I don't know anymore
Everything seems like such a bore

Time seems to move so slow
Maybe it's best to lay low
In the comfort of my own bed
Trying to escape this feeling of dread

The Saddest Foods

I went to Fresh Foods, 
And noticed something strange. 
All the items on the shelves, 
Were colors of a great range. 

I noticed some that looked, 
Colorless and spoiled 
They were either gray, 
Or maybe silver foiled?

But seeing how they drooped,
And flopped on their plates. 
They had to be sad and gray,
To succumb to such fates. 

The Gray Waffles sat,
Dripping in ashy syrup.
There’s nothing I could do,
They would never cheer up.

The Gray Cheese curled,
Looking colorlessly forlorn. 
I wanted to rescue it,
But I was slightly torn. 

Are these foods edible?
Is their greyness a mold?
Is their lack of color,
A misfortune foretold?

I look at my Grey Eggs and Bacon,
And I see a depressed frown. 
The sad egg yolk eyes,
Look like that of a clown. 

On Grey Day,
I concede to partake. 
I’ll eat a colorless food,
I’ll eat it for this holiday’s sake.

The Saddest Noil

a noil sits,
sad and grey
wishing it was
neverending noil day

it’s his favourite day
of the year
because it’s filled with love,
and lots of cheer

this wonderful day
has only just passed
so why did he feel
like the fun didn’t last?

he wandered outside,
and saw his friends looking blue
surely they weren’t
longing for noil day too?

this made no sense,
his friends were bemused
throwing his paws in the air,
he was so confused

this all makes sense!
what’s that, you say?
they point to the calendar,
keeping their laughter at bay

the noil glanced over,
“oh, I forgot it’s grey day”

A Grey Spell

Neopia, usually so bright and grand,
A grey dark spell fell across the land.
The curse of gloom swept over the trees,
From Kiko Lake to Mystery Island’s seas.

The skies fell dark in Neopia Central.
The darkness was swift, but slow and gentle.
Neopets slowly dipped their toes in the pool,
Changing their colours to a tone, dark and cool.

As they emerged again, sad and slow,
Eyes that once shimmered bright, lost in woe.
Their fur and feathers used to catch your eye,
The joy faded away, their smiles gone awry.

Aishas felt their antennas slowly turn down,
Draiks stopped flying, they never left the ground.
The kougras moved slow with their tails tucked low,
Their heads all down, their tears began to flow.

So if you happen to see a grey pet in gloom,
Give them your love, brighten the room!
Your love could bring colour back into their day,
A smile is a gift that never goes away!

Hip Hip Hooray for Grey Day!

How Do You Keep the Grey Away?

How do you keep the Grey away?
Sometimes I lie in my bed and lay,
Sulking in complete, utter dismay,
When you’re Grey, how do you seize the day?

I used to be joyful and Yellow,
A fair-weather fellow, who would always say, “Hello!”
But now, those joyful days feel like an echo,
A somber tune, like a slow chord on the cello.

I look outside and see the other pets play,
*GROAN* I slump deeper, deeper into dismay.
When did I become a bouquet decayed?

Is being Grey truly bad?
It is an experience that all Neopians have,
Whether your color is Grey or Burlap,
It is a feeling in which we all overlap.

While being Grey is certainly a struggle,
Rising above it is like figuring out a puzzle,
It is certainly tough and takes a muscle,
With time you’ll eventually find your way through the Grey jungle.

The next time joy is being kept at bay,
The next time you fall under the Curse of Grey,
Don’t fret, pardon the cliché,
Cozy up and embrace the grey to size the day!

Feeling Grey is Perfectly Okay!

It's Grey Day and the clouds are low,
The raindrops fall slow.
The sun is shining a litle dim,
Neopia is a little grim.

The Money Tree groans,
The Snowager moans.
Sometimes there are sad days,
But feeling sad is perfectly okay!

Illusen closes her door,
Grey Shoyrus don't soar.
Sometimes there are not so happy days,
But not being happy is perfectly okay!

The Faeries shed some tears,
Kacheeks walked slowly with no cheers.
Sometimes there are heavy days,
But feeling a little pain is perfectly okay!

As time goes on, there is a gentle joy,
An underlying peace we can slowly enjoy.
We can't always have happy days,
Feeling grey is perfectly okay.

Yiko the Grey Gargoyle

Atop Meridell Castle gargoyles sit firm, 
Frightening in appearance, to make enemies squirm. 
Lustrous and grey they keep intruders at bay. 
King Skarl would not have it any other way. 

Look closely and you will see, 
A gargoyle looking back at thee. 
Scanning the perimeter and castle.
Archaic, drowsy, and fragile. 

A living breathing gargoyle named Yiko, 
Posesses a breath like a volcano. 
A daring Draik with a keen eye, 
Glances over each passerby. 

Protecting the castle is their duty, 
At times, mistaken for a sleeping beauty. 
Do not be fooled, Yiko sees and hears it all, 
Nothing will get passed their fireballs.

One of the few living gargoyles in Meridell, 
Protecting the land from invasions and the Citadel. 
Stern and stoic, their gaze fixates, 
Yiko is one helpful Grey Draik. 

Meridell contains a large Draik populous, 
Watching them soaring above the land is marvelous. 
Yiko is a very rare Draik, 
One of the last living grey gargoyles to appreciate.

The Grey Plumpy

Of all the grey Petpets that are as grey as they can be,
there’re none that are as miserable as the Grey Plumpy,
For, while Plumpies are grouchy and equally as fussy,
The grey ones strike a chord that plucks at all your sympathy.

Down droop the small grey wings that usually are perked up high,
The little halo glows much less, the eyes convey a sigh,
the little mouth is ready to release a little cry
that alerts all ears listening to please come and comply

with Plumpy’s little request of some bacon on its plate,
For it is empty as can be, a sorrow that’s most great,
and so grey Plumpy dolefully will curl up and await
for providence to provide food that will its hunger sate.

But, while the grey Plumpy might seem to suffer from neglect,
And utilizes woeful looks to tremendous effect,
It's often fed quite well, which it sometimes tends to forget
So don’t feel too bad when you’re observing Plumpy’s affect.

The Bottled Grey Faerie

The Bottled Grey Faerie, my recent prize
A soft glow like storm clouds on the rise-
She stands with a strength I recognize
Her aura exudes like the thundering skies.

What a unique Faerie, I wonder what’s wrong?
Grey Faeries weren’t usually that headstrong
Perhaps she hasn’t been in there that long,
Or maybe deep in her heart is a brave song.

Before I knew it, she broke out!
All I caught as she flew away was her pout
and an angry grumble and a hasty shout
And I wonder what that was all about.

I would have set her free anyway,
But she seemed to have other plans today.
The Bottled Grey Faerie does not play-
Joke’s on you, if you thought she’d stay.

Just because she’s grey does not mean she’s weak!
Why’d you’d be surprised; I did not misspeak.
Grey Faeries do not need your critique
You should not assume that they are all meek.

Some stick around, so your pet is blessed
To make sure they can fight their best!
But some want to leave, that they will attest-
Now she’s off to bother you with a quest!

The Spring Rainbow

To celebrate Spring Ms. Usul had a task,
To paint a big rainbow with the help of her class.
Though Trist, the Grey Poogle, felt too shy to say,
Rainbows were colourful with no shades of grey.

All the kids 'cept Trist happily took part,
Painting with colours straight from their hearts.
Ms. Usul asked Trist if something was wrong,
And she admitted, quite simply, that she didn't belong.

"Why would you think that? That's certainly not true.
You are just as important as the rest of this crew."
"But I'm Grey," she said, a wet look in her eyes,
"Rainbows are not! They colour the sky!"

It was an oversight that Ms Usul could not ignore.
And she paused for a moment to scan 'cross the floor.
The children were laughing or humming a song.
Disrupting this moment would certainly be wrong.

"But," She started as a thought hit her brain,
"You can't have a rainbow without any rain."
"Like the stones of the wall will stronghold a fort,
Rainbows need grey clouds to give them support!"

Trist thought for a moment, then gave a sweet smile,
The one Grey Pets show only once in a while.
She picked up a brush, and with the help of her friends,
They painted a rainbow with grey clouds at both ends.

Tales of a Grey Kadoatie

This Grey Kadoatie could use a friend greatly,
Someone to talk to when it's raining,

Abandoned by their previous owner,

Today is really not my day,
Everything just makes me feel grey.
Neopia is my safe space,
But today I just feel out of place.

The sun has forgotten to shine—
Ruining all the wonderful plans of mine.
Rainy weather makes me feel cold,
And I am worried I am growing old.

Like Baelia, I feel my light has gone out,
I do not know how that came about.
Any bright colours just make me sad—
Gone is all the joy I ever had.

I wish I could paint the grey away,
But nothing is working, to my dismay.
Maybe my affliction is because of a void,
That has left me feeling utterly destroyed.

Perhaps this is how Kari and King Skarl feel,
Nothing they do seems to help them heal.
Many lands have now been grey for so long,
Fighting a curse that feels too strong.

Will we always be lost in the dark—
