Something terrible is about to happen! 
I keep trying to communicate. 
But with the Advent Calender going on, 
All anyone’s done is celebrate! 

My glasses may be cracked,
but the visions are clear! 
An Aisha lost in space, 
And other endless nightmares!

Please listen to my pleas, 
And do not get complacent. 
Something big is coming! 
Ogrin Day’s not that important!

Captain Jethro Rourke the Ogrin Explains His Soft Side

My lads have picked a frequently asked question from my pile of fan mail for me to answer now that I'm in my eighties.
Yes, I, Captain Jethro Rourke, have loyal fans of my own,
For my history and working so hard to the bone.

The frequently asked question will get answered today on Ogrin Day!
Yup... arr... hip, hip, hooray!
The question is: How did I get a soft side for being so well-known in the past as an angry, mean, and pessimistic sailor,
Well, good question, and I'll answer that now to cease all the wailers.

Before I answer the question, I'll give everyone some background information about me,
I once trusted and befriended a pirate who made a promise to me as follows: "If we find it, I vow to share the buried treasure with thee."
And so I helped the pirate who I befriended and we found the buried treasure only to find out that he betrayed me and left me stranded on a deserted island,
From then on I trusted no one and became horrid and...

Refused to help anyone who needed help,
Because I'll be in for a big disappointment at the end and feel as if I'm tangled in Maraquan sea kelp.
Then, the year 2020 came,
And one Neopian brought light into my life and made me realize that my resentment and perspective if I keep all that up will soil my name.

Granny Hopbobbin, thank you for helping me out of the dark and bringing the light to me,
You wouldn't take no for an answer when you wanted to employ me for the Charity Corner and you almost gave me a time-out and counted to three.
Your optimism overcame my pessimism
I was trapped inside my bubble for the longest time and you freed me from my prism.

The charitable donations from the kind Neopians made it possible to help get relief supplies for Dacardia,
All that kindness from seeing you host that charitable event overwhelmed me so much that it gave me Tachycardia.
You employed me to bring relief supplies to Dacardia and wouldn't take no for an answer so I did what you wanted me to and then
I saw how happy I made the Dacardians feel and that made me have a change of heart,
It was a warm, fuzzy feeling, something I never wanted to part.

From then on, I wanted to help everyone,
After the bringing of relief supplies to Dacardia had been done.
So there you have it,
That's how I got my soft side I'd admit.

I see her and just want to move!

Maraquan Ogrins, lobsters fair,
Are perfect to swim anywhere!
A pair of Royal Ogrins stuns---
They're prettier than anyone.

So, if you seek a furry friend,
The Ogrin pleases to no end.

C'était pour une occasion importante
Pas qu'il ne s'en vante
Mais il ne pouvait pas rater
C'était sa destinée

Le rendait un peu morose
Ce n'était pas à la hauteur
De ses illusions de grandeur

C'est qu'il voulait fêter la fête des Aisha
Elle avait eu lieu il n'y a pas longtemps de ça
Pour rendre les Aisha heureux
De Neopia Central à milles lieux

Il écrit sur leurs antennes
Pour voir où ça le mène
Et sur leur collier
Peut-être que ça allait lever

Il pris tellement de temps
Pour rejoindre tous ces gens
Que c'était rendu la fête des Ogrin

The Two Heroes of the Advent Calendar

This past month, two unlikely friends 
Made festivities memorable, 
(If a bit alarming). 
Let me tell you about them. 

The Christmas Aisha, 
So joyful, so lovely, 
Every Month of Celebrating 
Reina sends us gifts daily. 

As a kid, she decided
That when she grew up, 
She'd run the Advent Calendar 
And spread cheer and joy. 

Her grandma always knew she could. 

And so did her friend, Orion. 
(His Tarot cards told him 
One day, long ago. 
Like they'd tell him later, 
Of futures untold.)

The nervous Ogrin 
Has been losing sleep lately
With visions that plague him
Of impending danger. 

He tripped on a lyre of immense, weird magic
That when played, shares his tragic
Nightmares with Neopia
(And thankfully calls on Queen Fyora.)

But in all this chaos 
I hope, at some point, 
The two friends sit down
To celebrate and rejoice. 

I can picture them now, 
Reina and Orion,
Worrying together 
Over plots on the horizon. 

"Happy Ogrin day, though," she'd say, with a smile, 
Like Orion knew she would.
(It was in the cards.) 
"Thanks," he'd reply. "Happy Aisha Day, too." 

"How funny is it," Reina would say,
"That our respective days 
Are but a week away."

But Orion would know this one simple truth: 

It was destiny, not chance, 
It was written in the stars
(It was spelt out in the cards)
For Reina and Orion 
To be good friends-- the kind that last.

The Obelisk Ogrin

Beyond the caves
The Order of the Red Erisim meets

The meeting comes to order
As Alshemar rises
The wizard will nod, and discussion begins

Above all wizards
Young or old
Alshemar reigns supreme, his knowledge unparalleled

"Our time comes soon,"
He gravely says
Surely discussing the fight for the Obelisk

"All of the factions
may bring their best,
but we have knowledge they cannot comprehend."

He has trained for years
With magic unknown
To any average Neopian on the street

And it is with this wisdom
He leads the Order
To fight for the Obelisk once every new moon

Once the strategy is set
All wizards in agreement,
He retires to his chamber for the night

But the Master Wizard
Cannot truly rest
Until the Obelisk's power is finally his.

Ode to an Ogrin

Ogrins get a ton of hate,
They barely get love even on their own date
But my Ogrin is so cute, 
With his weird little mane 
And his zebra-like stripes that shine all the same

I used to have one
But I zapped him away 
I miss him right now, here on this day 
His bug-like antennae fill me with delight 
I don’t know how others don’t pity his plight  

And now everyone talks of Orion’s cute face
How nerdy and dishevelled he looks on a case
And I almost get mad
At this complimentary trend
When I was pressured into zapping my friend

So today I’ll look up Ogrin Morphing Potion prices 
Wondering which of my many vices
I’ll have to give up to acquire my old Pet, 
I assume my bank account will face a new threat,
But only this can assuage my regret 

To no one’s surprise but my own, 
The price of this potion does not require a loan
As no one else wants an Ogrin to hold,
The tale of his greatness has been left untold, 
And every acquired Orgin Morphing Potion must be resold 

Today is the day, I will have him once more 
My little Ogrin friend, though we were parted before 
He’ll rejoin my adventure and we can explore
There’s only one question left before me...
What colour should my new little Ogrin now be?

Ogrin Ode

Ogrin-liker number one!
That’s me! I think they’re really fun!
I genuinely cannot see
how folks don’t love the lil' goatee
that makes them look like a certain Loggins, 
or the way their fuzzy noggins
are capped with a big tall mohawk
that any punk rocker would rock!
Their scruffy paws give mighty kicks,
that’s why I think they’re mighty sick!
Striped or Spotted, Speckled or Stealthy, 
I love to see them full and healthy. 

I never thought an Ogrin was a Pet that I’d adore,
But a new friend isn’t always someone you are looking for! 

Though crowd favourites they may not be,
they’ll always be pretty cool to me.
They stand with their heads high, proud and tall, 
and the pluckiest lopsided grins of them all!
Look with an open mind and eyes
at an Ogrin, and you might find, to your surprise,
you want to give these groovy creatures a spin- 
why not open your heart and let one in?

An Ode to Orion

Though the Month of Giving brims so bright,
Not all have welcomed the joyous delight
For as merry as Reina’s advent be, 
One Ogrin foresees peril so dastardly.

Orion, a name cosmic and true 
What does your fortune tell? 
Did a visit to the Island Mystic portend 
A darkening cloud to swell? 

Or perhaps a greater evil still 
Has captured your calamitous mind
Did the darkest faerie herself emerge
To speak in riddle and rhyme? 

Perhaps a harbinger of doom met you, 
In the swirling depths of a dream 
Or Dr. Sloth struck down from space,
To muddle your yuletide gleam

My dear Ogrin, you doth dismay 
As Reina grants wishes so merry 
Are your fears grand, dooming our land
Or as simple as squishing a berry? 

What sparked this panic and peril,
To foretell a future so bleak? 
Only in time, may our troubled minds find
The truth in Orion’s speech

Reina the Red-Nosed Aisha

And Adee and Inah.
Taelia and Tarla,
And Donny and Hannah.
But do you recall,
The most famous Neopian of all?

Reina the Red-Nosed Aisha,
Had an awesome Advent Calendar.

All of the other Neopians,
Gawked and grovelled at her feet,
Begging for rare items,
Like a Seasonal Attack Pea treat.

Then one snowy winter day,
Orion came to say,
“Please, Reina, we must prepare;
Stop the gifts, there’s no time to spare!”

But Reina the Christmas Aisha,
Continued giving gifts to all.
Not heeding the Ogrin’s warning,
On Neopia, what will befall?...

My ogrin, my light

I recommend you talk to them if you kindly could.

Shy when meeting someone new, 
They’ll find it hard to speak,
But once you get to know an Ogrin,
They’ll have you there all week!

So, if you meet an Ogrin, and come up rather bored,
Then you should try to hear one out, you just might strike a chord.

Whether talking about the world outside, 
Or the hikes they love to take,
The Ogrin is a true friend,

My Unexpected Best Friend

At first it was the grin
That spread across my face -
It was my first reaction
Seeing the Ogrin race.
My first Ogrin impression,
Admittedly, was poor.
I didn't understand it;
Did not see the allure.
I wondered why they looked that way
And how they came to be -
The fur in bits, what giggle-fits!
Green like a Christmas tree!

As time went by, I noticed -
The Ogrin kept its cool.
It climbed up mountains all these years
To drink from a clean pool.
The Ogrin's grin persists, I say,
And much to my surprise,
I found a new curiosity
For Ogrins in my eyes.
The patient sort - the kind and meek,
Ogrins are underrated.
I tell you, once, I saw this beast -
On thin ice - and it skated!

Its hooves, so swift and graceful
As it climbs the mountainside,
With nature ever-temperate -
On its back, we take a ride
In pacing slow but sure we climbed,
The Ogrin's hooves would clop,
It climbed so high we touched the sky -
I thought we both would drop!
Yet at the peak, we made it both
Alive, happy, untethered.
I knew then on that Ogrin would be
My best friend forever.

Hannah’s Quest
