The Pteri’s Plight

Pteris are well known to be clever and astute,
well-read, well-bred and well-adjusted,
and capable of extravagant commutes.

They’re superiorly literate
and all who’ve met them know it
for even the obscure Black Pteri
quotes memorable Poe-ts.

Pteris are crowned kings of the humourous arena
(their pranks and wicked sense of humour 
frankly tyrannize Tyrannia).

But perhaps the greatest prank 
in the tomes of Neopian lore
has been made at THEIR expense
and about this, they’re quite sore:

Pteris are quite proud of their oft-distinguished species
but they’re pterribly ptraumatised
by what the linguists call the Curse of the Silent P!

Yes, the real plight of Pteris
is a vexing phonemic rule
(which Mrs. Owens would have taught y’all
if there were a Neoschool).

Today, a Pteri Protest is conspicuously announced!
About this matter they are serious –
they will not stand for their very name to go on mispronounced.

And for those who think it antiquary,
exaggerated, or quite trivial:
imagine Psloth, Queen Pfyora or the pfaeries
putting up with such unpalatable drivel!

The Desert Patrolman

A Pteri of the desert,
A watchman amid the dunes.
Always on the alert
For monsters and goons.

The Desert Patrolman,
Adorned and ready to fight.
Armed with a plan
And Lost Desert's might.

He soars into the skies,
Through the dry desert air.
Then with keen eyes,
Dives as close as he dares.

The Desert Patrolman knows
The path of his flight.
His wings bring him close
To an enemy in sight.

As though that wasn't enough,
This Pteri has one more trick.
For battles that are rough,
When it's defense he seeks.

He raises his wings high
Before things get worse.
And with a shout and a sigh,
He cries, "Wall of Force!"

A magic barrier is born,
For the Patrolman's protection.
To keep safe a Pteri scorned,
To help him endure this tribulation.

All Aboard for Pteri Day

Never you mind the one
Who goes down for maintenance.
(Just doing their job).

Black Pteri

Over stretches of land
And find treasure too.

Injured Pteri Outfit

This poor Pteri had an accident in the Battledome
He lost a fight in the Frost Arena with the Snowager
The damage inflicted with the sword was quite major
Now he has been told to rest and recover in his Neohome

He is still wearing his green hospital gown
Both of his feet are wrapped up in gauze
His head is also bandaged right at the crown
After only a few tentative steps he needs to pause

To adjust the crutch tucked under his wing
To ensure it doesn’t fall out of its sling

He must take his temperature, while he is on the mend
At the beginning of the day and also at the very end
To make sure he stays healthy and well
He’s also been instructed to apply a healing aloe gel

Perhaps the only good thing to come from the Snowager’s blast
Is that now his Neofriends can sign cheerful messages on his cast

During his long recuperation, he plots a comeback
Training with Captain Threelegs in the skills he lacks
He also wants to buy a healer like a Jade Scorchstone
Next time he fights The Snowager’s mind will be blown!

7 Notable Pteris

The Black Pteri means something ominous is to come,
His foreshadowing omens striking trepidation wherever he goes,
Yet his dark presence is not completely fearsome,
For those who dare challenge him in the Battledome.

Down for Maintenance Pteri is the real scary one,
Everyone hopes he does not appear,
For when he does there’s no more fun,
Because ‘Neopets is temporarily offline.’

Mrs. Owens, a tight beaked, strict and somewhat fussy Red Pteri,
A language and grammar teacher who tolerates no nonsense,
“It’s YOUR tree, not YOU’RE tree,
Remember, I before E, except after C!”

Clutch Billaban crosses his wings, standing tall,
A tough goalie for Roo Island’s Yooyuball team,
This green Pteri is speedy and impressive with the ball,
Hitting fast and strong with a very loud squall.

Gali Yoj is a wizard and keeper of lore in Sunny City,
A Yellow Pteri who’s well versed in the Kayannin script,
She can also read ancient writings and translate them simply,
To help heroes destroy powers escaping the valley.

Gif’n with his best friend Milo,
Invented the game of Tyrannian Mini Golf,
It started with a round stone and a Symol hole,
Now a well known game that tests the player’s control.

The Golden Pteri represents good luck and fortune,
Coming randomly to bring Neopians good news,
I hope you get to see him sometime soon,
Be it morning, evening or noon!

To Be a Pteri

A flighted sprite in the daytime sky.
The clouds playfully billow, wave 
And leisurely roll as they’re passing by. 

Twirling gracefully in the breeze,
Not a care in the world.
Feathers dancing however they please,

A lovely, preppy look.

Is quite consumed with books.

The Shirt is tailored, crisp and white.
It has a crimson tie.

With an elastic waist.
The colour matches with the tie,

The Wig is such a gorgeous thing,

It has some straps that can be held

They’re made of shiny leather stuff.

with your beguiling eyes
I’m tempted
to give you
all that you desire.

You enchant me
with your syrupy voice
it’s like swimming
in a sea
of lollipops
and rainbows.

You reach out
with your miniature claws
so soft and supple
they evoke in me
a protective stance.

You seem
to grow up so fast
I will miss the spasms
of your yelps, cries and laughs

You hit your opponents fiercely
and defend yourself impressively
moments I truly adore
times when you rock my world.

I wish I can encase you
in a Buckminster ball
to shield you
from the cares of this world.

I wish I can tell you
what pitfalls to avoid
and the roads
you need not take at all.

but, alas,
I can only be your guide
you still have to choose,
to decide.

It is inevitable
to spread your wings and fly
I’ll cheer you on
as you soar to new heights.

But for now
let the world wait
the time will come
for your turn at fate.

Where the Little Blue Pteri Calls Home
