Scaredy Kougra

As a Kougra painted Halloween
I am mysterious to most
while others consider me
to be as ghastly as a ghost
But even my shadowy exterior,
wide brown wings and claws
cannot hide my deepest secret
and most frightening flaw
I'm quite the scaredy Kougra
the Haunted Woods scares me so
most especially on Halloween
(which is today as you may know)
I hear Count von Roo is around
when I usually find him asleep
I'd never want to meet him
My precious level I wish to keep!
Especially on Halloween
I hear eerie howling around the Woods
I wonder what that is about?
Did Hubrid Nox viciously attack again?
"HELP ME", I internally shout.
Even for a Halloween Kougra like me
something remained a dark mystery
until a Ghost Koi passed me
and all suddenly became clear
On Halloween, the Haunted Woods
is no place to be feared!
"The Brain Tree has bags,
and Esophagor does too!"
Now I (the "scaredy Kougra")
have something spooky and festive
to look forward to

Trick-or-Treating

Journeying from land to land
visiting places to approach Neopians
because I want those goodie bags!
Trick or treating is like a sport
no matter what mode of transport
My pants have turned into tattered shorts
It is Halloween, a very special night
so others seeking same bags
are everywhere in plain sight
Save a trick-or-treat bag for me!
The moon is a pale yellow
and I feel a sudden chill
my arms feel so heavy
but I keep smiling still
Halloween lasts just a night…
even if I felt a Meepit bite
As I return home, I try to decide
which obtained bag I’ll first open
to see what’s inside.

Intelligent plant
I would describe the Brain Tree
He wants to know more

What exactly is
the Esophagor? Do tell!
It’s always hungry.

Edna the witch is
possibly not the smartest
and might need your aid. 

We know Eliv Thade
can be intimidating
if one cannot spell. 

These are just a few
of the Haunted Woods’ finest
and strangest townsfolk. 

Whether you plan to
spend your Halloween with them
or not, they are there.

A Game of Deadly Dice

Count Von Roo is always taking a snooze
So if you want to play a game, you know what to do

Go to the lair where he dwells
Wait until the clock strikes twelve

He will wake from his slumber 
Just to make you wonder

Do you want to play a game?
If he wins, don’t be ashamed

Gain levels, or lose - no way to know
Close your eyes, roll the dice, and - whoa!

You’ve won an avatar! 
Aren’t you glad you’ve come this far?

Now be on your way, The Count needs his rest
On Halloween you can put him to the test!

Fuzzles on Halloween

It is All Hallows Eve
and all are ready to attend
wicked costume parties
and trick or treat with friends
But evil Fuzzles everywhere
have something sinister in mind
though they may appear to
be oh-so cuddly and kind
By a hollowed tree in Neovia
the beings secretly convene
unafraid of trick or treaters
who might hear their scheme.
The Blue Evil Fuzzle leader
ends the meeting with a “BOO!” 
Its minions cackle then scatter
they know exactly what to do. 
As Neopians in every land
enjoy the events that night
the evil Fuzzles intend to
ruin them by giving a fright
Several of them started hiding in
trick or treat bags taken home
So they come with unknowing pets
however far they may roam
Other Fuzzles may opt to torment
some loyal petpets instead
 seeing a toy evilly smirk at you
can mess with anyone’s head.  
So please beware of Fuzzles
however cute they may appear
Like Meepits, lags and Sneezles
they are to be somewhat feared!

Esophagor’s Lament

Tonight’s the night when many
stop by and roam our spooky site
but not to help complete quests
For most, it’s “candy night”!
pets run from place to place
seeking bags with mystery treats
as I myself start feeling hungry
Neopian, I badly want to eat!”
They see me yet ignore my calls
Pets simply want good freebies. 
Halloween’s not mainly about helping 
but sweets and the heebie-jeebies. 
Although I guess I understand
why pets opt to trick or treat
Halloween is only once a year
so I refuse to admit defeat.

Carving Pumpkins – A Halloween Shape Poem

Halloween
                                                                           with pumpkins
                                                                              harvested from
                                                                                 the vine, ready
                                                                                    at longest last
                                                                                   to be carved.
                                                                   Study the pumpkin carefully.
                                                      Learn well its shape, its contours, its colours.
                                       Each pumpkin has a personality all its own, like each Neopet.
                           Perhaps your pumpkin wants to greet trick-or-treaters with a cheerful grin.
                  With happy eyes                                wide open and                                 its mouth smiling.
              Then again, perhaps                          your pumpkin is of                           a different sort, a scary
            sort that will cackle high                with eyes nearly crossed                   and mouth open wide, as
       if it is shrieking at passers-by.        Then again, perhaps you find           that your pumpkin is feeling ill
        and it just cannot help but to have seeds and guts coming out of its mouth. Dear me, what a scary            
             sight that would be! Hopefully your pumpkin is not feeling poorly on the night that it is meant
                 to be lit up and shine brightly. It would be better to get all of those seeds and guts out of
                  the way before                     the big night,                     so if your                  pumpkin feels ill, 
                      take good care                   of the poor                        little guy                   and give him
                         a careful hug.                                                                                            Not too tight!
                            You do not want                                                                                  to break him!
                                Once you have gotten                                                 to know your pumpkin 
                                    and have carefully carved his face, you are ready to put a small candle 
                                         in his center and set him outside on the porch of your Neohome.
                                              Light the candle with care on All Hallows’ Eve and wait for 
                                                    the parade of costumed Neopets to appear for candy.

A Moltaran Halloween

the Woods is the place to go
but another land has
just as many fun and
exhilarating thrills to show.

Moltara is said to not
be for "the faint of heart"
(If you visit the Caves
there's a note to
warn you from the start)
The Magma Pool can be cool
if you know how it works
til then, you can explore
and see what dangers lurk
Lampwyck's Lights Fantastic
lends lamps to ghost story-tell
Not convincingly creepy enough?
They give rusty, dim ones
that Lampwyck could not sell.
Igneot's Cavern can be eerie
The answers he gives are endless
Ask Igneot an offensive question
and you may end up friendless.
In Moltara on this day (or night)
cave gliding is more dangerous
Some imps try to ensure you fail
How? That's what's mysterious.

Most pets love to visit
the Haunted Woods on 
Halloween, as do I
Though I would rather
melt from magma than
get hit again with
ANOTHER DARN PIE!

From the Brain Tree on Halloween

An intelligent old tree,
others claim that I am.
In my head: much info crammed
I could always need an extra brain
so go on my quests arcane
Not many have the clever mind
and others may be too unkind
to care about a talking tree
as cerebral as I may be
It's not frightening to aid
on Halloween, no way!
I will not let you go unpaid
If fear gets in the way
tomorrow is another day
So if in the Haunted Woods
you just happen to be
just stop by the brain
attached to an aging tree!
