I'm not rich, but not poor
I'm quite well, but my back is sore

My shop is clean, but not fancy
My Pets have toys, but not candy

They aren't starved, but neither too full
Their coats aren't shiny, but not dull

Their home is cozy, but not humongous
Their food is old, but grows no fungus

Their clothes are washed, but easily stained
Their Petpets are hyper, but well tamed

One of them fights, the others just watch
She has been beaten, but gains experience

I call myself average, not an expert or newbie
I don't live in poverty, and don't look 'groovy'

But there is one thing that all Neopians share

The Grarrl.
Oh! The Grarrl.
What a wondrous pet it is.
With strength that reduces tree to lumber,
With teeth as sharp as knives.
With a roar as loud as thunder,
It makes a Skeith seem nice.

The hunger.

The greatest weakness of a Grarrl.
The hunger needs to be satisfied.
But hardly anything can fill,
The stomach that really appeals,
To the food the owner wields.

The horror.
Oh! The horror.
When the stomach is appeased,
The danger that comes to these,
Poor Neopets who shall fall,
Under the power of the Grarrl.

The battle.
Oh! The battle.
Not many can survive,
A well-trained Grarrl with a strong tail spike.
How it roars as it's ready to smite,
With anger born at the start of it's life.

The winner.
Oh! The winner.
How it surprises us so.
The Grarrl that is armed to the teeth,
Has lost to a Level Two.
Who is this powerful fighter?

I'd really love a trophy
But I can't win a contest
I'm desperate for a trophy
But I never am the best.

It's too late to win Usurper,
Theme Parks, Neopets V2
And I'm not good enough at games
To win Better Than You

My favourite game is Meerca Chase
Scored 703 but, oh dear!
The highest scored is 3000!!
So I am nowhere near!

I only want a trophy
It's not too much to ask
I went to try a Brain Tree quest
But couldn't do his task

I tried Kauvara's Potion game
It blew up in my face
I came close with Fyora's Quest
But I didn't get a place

My friends all win the Mystery Pic
But I don't have a clue
I can't draw so that's Pictures out
And Beauty Contest too

Then I had a bright idea
If I can think of lines that rhyme
I'll send this little poem in
I might win one this time.

My head drops wearily down to sleep
My pets are in bed and I'm counting out sheep
And as my eyes droop
And my thoughts waft away
My vision contorts in the oddest of ways
Clearly, an omelette comes into my view
A painful reminder of Better than You
The Omelette Defender game plays in my mind
As I scurry around for defenses to find
A Grarrl stealthily pounds down Tyrannian sand
And I see that a spray can is still in my hand
I dart toward the launcher - but is it too late?
Has this Neopet monster delivered my fate?
I get it in time and the Grarrl moans and flees
Skeiths comes to this blend
Of eggs and some cheese
The catapult easily banishes all
And with a few moments I see many fall
My score flashes on and I cry out with glee
That evil old wolf isn't better than me!
I try to submit and I hear a large crash
My browser's locked up by some
Game made from Flash
I weep and I sob with great "oh no's" and "why's"
And slowly, it all stops...I open my eyes
As real as the victory surely did seem
The wonder and horror had all been a dream
I blink twice with shock
And then try to remember...
