GRUNDO DAY SPECIAL

To Whom It May Concern
by kneogirl1012

Let me tell you a story, a story quite sad
It begins getting worse and it ends really bad.
I’ll begin by assuring you the whole thing will rhyme
Well—the most I can promise is some of the time:

They were all like my children
All twelve-hundred and six
Then more orange, white, and purple got thrown in the mix
And I’m not really sure how those Grundos appeared
I just know that they did, and it was I they feared.
We were on Virtupets Station, way up in the sky
When I was called ‘tyrant’ and never asked why.
They wanted their freedom, said they were just slaves
to a tyrannical madman who liked making waves.
My Grundos accused me of horrible crimes—
Conspiring to Plot with Meepits four times!
Kidnapping them from Doran, their home planet,
If I didn’t win Gormball I threatened to ban it.
Forcing them to learn spelling on pain of starvation,
Was a crime that had won me a standing ovation.
(although I acquiesce that may have been a tad strict,
considering I didn’t feed them much to begin with.)
But I strove and I strove to show them all that I cared,
So I opened my heart to the closest and shared
my secret love for robots that cause mass destruction,
and how I desperately longed to be Neopia’s sovereign.
All I got for my efforts was a crummy T-shirt—
I Club Dr. Sloth?
That was a low blow, right there.
A low blow.
They know how to spell, I KNOW they know.

Well I guess it’s a wrap if I’ve given up rhyming,
I just hope my tangents didn’t screw up the timing.
But it all seems in order, and the story’s near end—
The Grundos got freedom and I got a friend.
…No, wait, that’s a lie,
I didn’t get jack.
Except for perhaps getting stabbed in the back.

Sincerely, your buddy, Dr. Frank Sloth—you lout!
And if you ever forget it you better watch out.

Earthling Blues
by rowdyqueen

My Grundo has no fighter's strength,
Nor a trophy winning face.
Yet every night he counts the stars
And yearns for outer space.

He hasn't read that many books,
In games he gets annoyed.
His biggest dream is to return
To the black and starry void.

His telescopes and sky maps
Are all he needs for fun.
He stargazes till night is through,
And never sees the sun.

But wait until he hears
Of our Neopian vacation.
We'll take the next shuttle to
Virtupets Space Station.

He's just a humble alien,
But there's no need to pretend.
I would move to outer space
For my galactic friend.

Spider Grundo
by binky1260

In a dark and dreary obscure cave,
Spider Grundo dwells,
A product of the evil Sloth,
Or so the legend tells.

So chilling is this creature,
A mere Grundo at the start,
That the bravest of all Neopets
Has fear struck in her heart.

Toiling at experiments,
Nefarious and cruel,
The Doctor used the Grundo
To cement his evil rule.

And so the hapless Grundo’s fate
Was sadly sealed that day;
Forced to consume a potion,
He transformed without delay.

But the Doctor’s plan was foiled
When he realized he had neither
The means nor the methods needed
To control the fearsome creature.

So Spider Grundo deftly escaped
To a cave unknown;
Perhaps someday you’ll meet him
If you roam too far from home.

Virtupets Vacation: A Grundo Anew
by _brainchild_

I venture up to Virtupets
For my longest vacation yet.
A worthy journey it will be
Despite the travel time for me.

As I walk through metal doors,
I see festivites galore!
Yet I'm most attracted to
Creating a Grundo anew.

They come in more colors than four—
Seven of them are in store.
Which will be the chosen hue?
Plasma White or Stellar Blue?

I select a Solar Red
Pal who comes completely fed.
Yet my friend still wants to taste
The wonders of Grundo's Café!

He chows on Constellation Soup,
Then gobbles other nameless goop.
Then he happily requests
To own a cool space-themed Petpet!

The many Robots shall entice!
The Neotrak is very nice,
Yet my buddy wants a Wain,
A Petpet anything but plain!

As the day comes to an end,
I reminisce with my red friend
About the day of endless fun,
Despondent that the time is done.

Space Adoption Agency
by digests

With the cold, metallic slam of a door
two beady red eyes welled up with tears once more.
Extended were his ear stalks, devouring each word
"Grundos cannot be free! That thought is absurb!"

Listening intently, the Grundo grew tense
waiting for the decision to be made in suspense.
His ears perked forward as he excitedly heard,
"We have to retreat, sir! There's no time for another word!"

His master's paniced voice, seething with dread,
brought peaceful relief to the small Grundo's head.
His fingers twidling, his eyes glistening with glee;
once and for all, Grundos were free!

In a frenzy and flurry, he witnessed his master
fleeing the Space Station to avoid certain disaster.
The Grundo ripped off his uniform with holes in the cloth,
thus ending the reign of the putrid Dr. Sloth.

With their green-skinned master forced to retreat
an army of Grundos stood on their feet.
Balancing swiftly, they began to persue
a life in Neopia, a world they never knew.

Despite their rich history, much to their dismay,
some Grundos are homleless on Grundo Day.
Allow their struggles and lonliness to end,
and consider welcoming home a new friend!

Space Grundo Shirt
by indulgences

I gigglesnorted when I saw
This marvelous blue suit.
I love its little golden badge.
My love is absolute!

I've always been a sci-fi fan,
And Star Trek was my fave,
So when I saw this Grundo set,
I had to cheer and rave!

It comes with a Toy Gun as well.
This ray gun takes the cake.
It pulses with electric glow,
And makes you double take!

The Shoes and Wig complete the look.
They're pretty standard things.
The Shirt is what's important here.
It makes me whoop and sing!

It's Grundo Day, so buy your pet
An outfit they will love!
Perhaps they'll want this Space outfit.
It's such a cut above!

Sad Little Grundo
by papersnakes

Sad little Grundo, why do you cry?
Because every day I’m here, watching them go by.

Sad little Grundo, why do frown?
Because life is so monotonous, and I’m feeling very down.

Sad little Grundo, why are you blue?
Because there are so many people, but my friends are few.

Sad little Grundo, why do you mourn?
Because I just feel so worn.

Sad little Grundo, be sad no more.
As you lie there on the cloudy floor,
For friends you have, this I know.
Every day they come, but you see them only go.
They come every day, for just a while,
But they always leave with a smile.
Sorry worry not, little Grundo, and be sad no more,
For many friends you have, of this I am sure.

The Monstrous Spider Grundo!
by dr_tomoe

Deep in the Haunted Woods
is a creature of fright
who shows up all the time
in the glistening moonlight.

An experiment by Sloth
who escaped from his cage
A former Grunto scientist
of an unknown age.

He was betrayed by his master
but made his escape
but is still cursed by
his arachnid fate.

While he was a victim
he is by no means nice
an encounter with the Spider Grundo
will fill your veins with ice.

For those who have found
his mysterious hole
find themselves tormented
before devoured whole!

At least that's the rumor
and those rumors don't ebb
As no one who has found him
has escaped from his web.
