Regret Of An Impulse
by __miasmummy__

It happens every so often,
Where you get hit with "must have-itis,"
The impulse becomes too much
And you feel you just can't fight this.

Whether it be a shiny new wearable,
Super-expensive but cool,
Or a brand new colour for your 'pet
That will turn them into a ghoul.

In that moment you pull out those savings,
Feeling the rush of a brand new buy,
Then those feelings of doubt slowly creep in
And you start to think, "But, why?"

The 'pet you just painted isn't a ghoul,
Her character is scared of the dark,
Spooky noises creep her out
And she likes to play at the park.

And that simply wonderful new foreground
That you just couldn't resist
Looks terrible with every custom you try
As you angrily shake your fist.

Never again you tell yourself.
Impulses are not for me;
I will fight the urge no matter what!
Oh my, is that a new Petpet?!?

The Picky Eater
by Heartsnothaters

I'm such a picky eater,
It drives my owner nuts,
I prefer White Chocolate every day,
No ifs, ands, or buts!

I don't eat apples from that Gnorbu Bart,
They look unsafe and yucky,
But if you give me berries to eat
I'll consider myself lucky.

There's a reason "Gross Foods" are called that.
Have you tried the Maggot Stew?
Just the sight of it made me sick once,
It cost me a visit to the Springs or two!

I must say, Neggs are awfully great,
But I'll only eat them plain.
Give me one that's purple or icy
And watch me go insane.

I won't eat omelettes that are not whole,
The same thing goes with jelly.
Don't think of feeding me anything
That has the word "dung" or "smelly."

So, there you have it, my personal list
Of what I'll eat and won't.
If you're thinking of sending my owner the latter,
For goodness' sake, please don't!

Disturbing Gelatin: Aptly Named
by flufflepuff

The wobbling mound of purple, it reeks
Of many things that were left out for weeks,
But that's not the reason for being perturbed:
For one thing, its long tongue
Sticks out, like it seeks.

The thick bar of red, aside from its size,
Accompanies two large, fierce, glaring eyes
That can't help but cause you
To feel so disturbed --
Your appetite takes flight, says its goodbyes.

It stands still,
But shakes and continues to stare
At those who refuse to look at its hair --
So bushy one might think it's made of paint.
It's only sought after because it is rare.

Brave ones step forward
And brace themselves for
A rancid experience they can't ignore.
Consuming the jelly, they start to feel faint
From tastes that are better left unexplored.

The Fateful Game Of Scorchy Slots
by Limo8

One fateful day, on Neopets I came;
I was ready for a dreary day to blame.
I went to my dailies, hope unprepared,
I wanted to get some goodies, however scared!

I set my sights first on restocking!
I realized, through my efforts, I was king;
Getting treasures one after the next,
Hoping that this wouldn't have me hexed!

I then agreed to forgo the igloo,
Treats and treasures had me askew.
As soon as I saw some treasures galore,
In my shop I went to store!

The next fateful thing took me by surprise.
I went to play my old friend, I would rise;
Scorchy Slots, oh what a fearful game,
However, it was not a day to feel loss and shame!

I spun it quite a few and got my bearings;
I spun again and... Jackpot, of all things!
I was out of breath, speechless as could be...
Is this really what I see?!?

The Jackpot was finally mine,
Leaving my old dreams far behind.
The trophy was finally in my sight;
What a fateful day and delightful night!

Sleep, Little Mini Monster, Sleep.
by Dortho

At the Spooky Food Eating Contest,
There you arrived,
Eating more than the rest,
Others felt deprived.

An unexpected dinner guest in its first year
Had many in shock and fleeing in fear.
It was just a youngin' who probably got lost,
More accustomed to living around frost.

It took much exploring
(And, due to curses, some snoring),
Through tedious catacombs
That were a bit boring,
To find you, little one, and get you back home,
At a hidden place where you're safe to roam.

You're back home now, little monster so sweet.
Your family stopped weeping
And stomping their feet.
Your bed at home was still prepared,
No more need to be scared,
As they tucked you in tight
And kissed you good night.
