PTERI DAY SPECIAL

Sweetest Pteri Of Them All
by Indulgences

My faerie Pteri is so sweet!
His name is Peekaboo.
He's shy, as his name does suggest,
Though he's of brilliant hue!

He's unconverted, and this makes
It hard to customize
His lovely, graceful Pteri self.
We have to compromise!

I put a background on his self.
He shudders at my rings.
No bracelets either; neck chains, too.
He doesn't want a thing!

I add a foreground, roses fall.
They decorate his face.
He tolerates my girly bent.
I give him an embrace!

My faerie Pteri's lovely and
I love his faerie looks!
I love his unconverted self,
A love that can't be shook!

Shhhh! It's The Pteri Librarian
by Sugarypixiestix2

From opening to closing she's there,
every day sitting in her desk chair.
Treating the library like her home
by taking fine care of every tome.

No book is ever on the wrong shelf,
since she checks them all herself.
If you can't find a certain subject,
she'll help you without disrespect.

Her library is kept calm and quiet;
no patron has ever started a riot.
The Pteri Librarian is very stern
when a patron causes her concern.

Through her glasses she sees all,
so be sure to not run down a hall.
She will catch you with kind ease,
and you'll slow down to appease.

Books, to her, are to be cherished;
she'd never let a book be perished.
To other librarians she's an idol,
viewing her as a scholarly tidal.

For The Down For Maintenance Pteri (Since He'll Show Up Anyway)
by Comawhite333

Down For Maintenance Pteri,
Why do you haunt me so
When I'm bored or have free time
With nowhere else to go?

You show up, as if knowing
I don't want to be interrupted,
With a remorseless gaze
As my play time is disrupted.

That's not very nice,
But then you really don't care.
Your rude interference
Causes nothing but despair.

Like, when you had to show up
When I was playing Meepit Juice Break,
But I'm sure those nine hours spent playing
I could easily retake

After all, you seem to think
I have no kind of life --
Showing up whenever you want,
Causing mischief and strife.

With all of that said,
The minute I see any Pteri colored red
I'm closing my window
(No pun intended)
Until you are far, far away,
And Neopia has mended.

But, while I'm here,
I might as well celebrate you today.
I'm sure you'll show up eventually
To hog the spotlight, anyway.

Christmas Pteri, Plain And Bright
by Flufflepuff

Most Christmas-painted Neopets
Are dazzling, and stand
Out from much plainer colors.
They're dignified and grand.

Not so the Christmas Pteri, for
Her style's quiet grace.
She's mostly unadorned, save for
The marks upon her face

And chest of crimson red. She sports
Her vibrant subtlety
With pride and glides into the sky;
So beautiful is she.

With downy feathers, feathers soft and warm
To keep out fearsome chills,
She climbs until she finds a cloud,
Conceals herself, is still.

Alas, her coloration bright
Displays, for all to see,
The spots of red of which she's proud,
So visible is she!

Despite the fact that she lacks skill
In games like hide-and-seek,
The Pteri proves her worth through song.
She climbs the highest peak

Of Terror Mountain, unafraid.
From there, she chirps and tweets,
Pouring forth her crystal voice,
A melody so sweet.

It echoes her appearance, soft
And delicate, yet strong.
Everyone stops to gaze at her
And hear her gentle song.

They marvel at her voice and her
Plumage, neat and pure.
She smiles and keeps going, glad,
Though she's seen as demure.

The Black Pteri
by Treeword

When one doth glance upon this beast
And it seems all his wrath released,
One would naught assume his cry
Of rage is but a saddened sigh.

For, this fiend which caws into the night
Is fear-inducing upon first sight.
Heavy talons sharp, ever afoot,
Snapping beak and black as soot.

He perches on the edge of hate,
For none do know his certain fate.
Bound he be to fight till death,
Until this Pteri has no breath.

Unseen shackles bind him there,
Where those of valor do dare,
Scorn and taunt him to feud,
Of which his soul cannot elude.

His mind doth wonder evermore,
To the sun, the ocean, and the shore,
When he can, upon the fateful day,
Spread his wings and fly away.

Zirpi The Pteri, The Great Knowledged One
by Shadowsephira

Zirpi the Great, the magnificent teller,
I ask you a question, so sing me this song:
I have found an omelette
Of greatest proportion;
In rugged Tyrannia it sits there on stone.
I call to you, Zirpi,
Please give me your wisdom --
Open your beak and tell me your song.

So Zirpi the Pteri, the great knowledged one,
Opens his beak and sings this great song
About an omelette that sits on the stone:

"Kawlet, my dear friend, you silly Shoyru.
You've discovered an omelette... oh, bless you,
Young or elderly, it can be eaten by all;
Does matter not the kind, just don't eat it raw.
For sick you shall be if uncooked you go,
But cook it thorough
And a tasty treat you shall know."

Now Zirpi has spoken
And all 'pets are quite thrilled.
A new food has been found
And their tummies are filled.
All thanks to Zirpi and the silly Shoyru.

Feathers Of Fortune
by Lilahne_aluoki

Pteri, in Neopia, are harbingers --
It's true!
Of unexpected Random Events, that mostly
You shall rue.
Although, it really depends on the Pteri's
Feathers' hue.
So what color, exactly, was the one that
Flustered you?

The Black Pteri is scary as the shadows
All around.
In the Battledome, be wary, if you're bound to
The ground.
His caw is a dismal, heart-rending,
Screeching sound
Only meant to confuse you; to trouble
And confound.

On the other hand, the Golden Pteri is
A joy!
If your 'pet's also a Pteri, then his boon you
Might enjoy!
Although the heavy weight of raining Neopoints
Might annoy,
He's known to give out just enough to buy a
Brand-new toy!

Down For Maintenance Pteri is red as an
Angry flush.
He tends to appear the most when you are in
A rush.
He can bring the Neoboards to a
Stifling hush.
Perhaps he'd be more bearable as a
Delightful plush...

But you say the Pteri you saw was a
Soupy green?
With purple legs, a royal crown, and faded,
Torn-up jeans?
I'm not sure what kind of fortune that could
Possibly mean...
Unless there's Rainbow Water again in your
Pteri's canteen!

Fibonacci Pteri
by Kittykatgirl444

Fly
High
Pteri,
In the sky.
Soaring on the winds,
Wings spread wide,
Having
Much
Joy.

But
Quickly
Turn and see
The sun as it fades,
Sinking beyond the horizon,
Summoning the night.
Now the moon
is your
guide.

Lead on!
I'll follow
My prize Neopet
Wherever he may choose to go.
He is trying to decide on a paint brush color.
Perhaps island, faerie, or snow?
Maybe Darigan.
He'll travel
To see.

First,
To the
Mountain, a
Paradise of snow.
My Pteri doesn't like the cold.
Ice is not for him.
Just like this,
More lands.
No.

None
Seem
To fit.
Suddenly,
He tries Krawk Island.
Yes! Pirate!
Now this
Is
Right.

The Down For Maintenance Pteri
by Dortho

There is a red Pteri many don't like to see.
When he visits, it's fine by me.
I see him as a sign
That things are getting fixed,
For many, when they see him,
Their emotions are mixed.

Playing a game
Or trying to get a message sent,
The site goes down, and many want to vent.
Please remember it's not the Pteri's fault,
Set those hard feelings aside
And lock them in a vault.

That Pteri doesn't like it any more than you do,
If you're hoping to restock at the Igloo
Or trying to get that awesome score
To the High Score Table.
Rest assured, he would allow it if he was able.

It's his job to be the bearer of bad news;
I'll bet he often doesn't even have a clue,
As to why the site is down for maintenance;
Just remember to keep your patience!

Patience is a virtue, after all.
The site being down won't be your downfall.
It'll likely make the site safer for all to enjoy --
For you and me, and every girl and boy.

If this Pteri visits you, please don't frown!
It just means, for then, the site is down.
Always for the better, and not for the worst.
With much love, the site isn't cursed.

He's just protecting you
And the rest of us, too.
When you see him, it's best to say
A polite "Thank You"
And wish him a happy day!

A Pteri's Game
by Kristykimmy

Gif'n sat upon his friend,
The day so long and boring.
He sought his ear to bend,
But Milo was snoring.

“Wake up, wake up, friend of mine!”
The Pteri did squawk.
The Chomby blinked in the sunshine,
At opening his eyes he balked.

“Why do you wake me from my naps?”
Milo sleepily demanded.
“The boredom my energy saps.”
“Let me sleep or be quite candid!”

“Do look there!” the Pteri said,
As into the distance he pointed.
Not too far Milo's eyes were led
And he was disappointed.

“You wake me to see a Petpet
Digging a deep hole.
If that can cause you to fret,
I suggest you have words with the Symol!”

“I had a great idea looking at the pet,"
The excited Gif'n cried,
“And to you I bet,
You'll not think I have lied!”

Milo sat up to listen,
Moved by his friend's glee,
He saw Gif'n's eyes did glisten
Like sunlight on the sea.

“We need small balls and a stick,”
The Pteri did tell,
“And if we do this quite quick,
We shall not have to wait a long spell.”

So, the the items they quickly gathered
And came back to the spot
Where Milo would have rathered
To have napped a lot.

Gif'n put the ball down
And hit it with the stick,
The ball rolled across the ground
And caught in the grass thick.

Milo took his turn --
Avoiding the grass,
From Gif'n he did learn
that obstacles were en masse.

And so, in turns they took,
bringing their balls closer,
The Symol did stop to look,
Seeing their spirits bolstered.

Down the hole Gif'n's ball went,
And with a cheerful cry,
Milo said he was glad he forwent
His nap under the sunny sky.

Others had seen their play
And wanted to join in.
The friends were glad to say
A new round could begin!
