Shop Till You Drop By Really_chilly

I peek into the auctions
To view what's up for bidding
I step inside the clothing store
To see what Uni's knitting

I eat a piece of chocolate
From a tray that's in that store
I add Count Von Roo to my collection
It only costs 654!!

I buy a loaf of bread
For my hungry young Lupess
I get a yummy Smoothie
'Cause they're better than the rest

I pick up a Dung Table
For that person I don't like
I stop into the Toy Shop
To buy a new blue bike

I walk into my NeoHome
Awaiting every smile
But all my crying pets do is say,
"You didn't buy us the Nile!"

Dr_Death's Lament By Karma_leafbarer

I sit at the desk
and twiddle my thumbs,
waiting until
the next of them comes.

I watch them cry,
and I hear them moan,
and say they can no longer
give their pet a home.

Frightened and hurt,
it's given to me,
no longer their problem
to oversee.

Though I'm doing my job,
my conscience feels black,
as I struggle to drag
the stricken pet to the back.

He struggles and fights
as he's dragged across the floor,
till he's placed in a cage
with a slam of the door.

He peers through the bars
with large glistening eyes,
my pity for him
has become hard to disguise.

I want to assure him
that someone will come
to take him away
from this horrible slum.

I want to believe
that he won't have to stay
and hope to see him adopted
by the end of the day.

But day after day,
people still pass him by,
as he lies and he waits
with hope in his eyes.

And, why do you ask,
is he ignored by them all?
Because his pelt is not painted.
his level is small.

His health, while he stayed here,
went on the rocks,
and he's sporting a case
of raging NeoPox.

And nobody wants
to give a "sad sack" a home,
all they want is a pet
that does well in the 'dome.

I suffer in silence
as I attend to my work.
The pink Uni's the hero,
while I play the jerk.

They hate me and fear me
and all shy away,
they think I'm "the bad man"
that takes pets away.

Yet they don't see the bad
when they come through my door,
carrying a pet
they don't want anymore.

"Find him a home,
you'll do that, right?"
They ask and then turn
and walk off in the night.

I don't like what I do,
but what choice have I?
When an owner leaves
their pet to die?

They call me Dr_Death,
the killer of dreams,
but now that you know me,
am i still what I seem?

What Is It About Poogle Racing?
By Mynameiskar

What is it about Poogle Racing?
That makes my mind excited,
while my heart is racing.
Is it feeding the Poogle?
Or placing your bet?
Or hoping
that your dreams will be met?
Is it watching them dash,
almost flying away?
Or, when losing,
trying again another day?
Is it their soft, fine fur?
Their round little tummy?
The pointy little ears,
that look like a bunny's?
Is it the last moments of the race,
when your adrenaline is racing?
Or the first moments of the race,
when you're shouting and pacing?
If you ask some about Poogle Racing,
they might say, "Boo!"
But for me, never seeing a race,
just wouldn't do.

There Is A Hope By Truesamgirl

When I first joined Neopets
I thought it would be neat
To get to have my very own pet
Without leaving my seat.

I figured it'd be easy
Just fun, no work, all play
That thought burst with a single glance
When I looked at prices one day.

With 750 points
I could not afford a lot
I had to live from the Money Tree
And the Soup Kitchen, with it's soup pot.

My Neopets weren't hungry
But Neopoints were few
I thought I might abandon
A Neopet or two.

But with one last hope I submitted a poem
And wished that I would win
For if I did not win this contest
A pet would lose it's grin.

I checked the poems every day
Barely making starvation
And then one very lucky day
I checked into the station.

And my poem was there, I jumped for joy
I came in third with a poem
I now can buy food and toys
And I live in my Main Street home.

I hope that this gets posted
And inspires the poor ones out there
That there is hope and you may get lucky
Though not all in life is fair.

So all the poor, who have not given up
I know that you've got a chance
And this may sound funny,
But when you get lucky
Feel free to get up and dance.

I Am Balthazar By Neopian_ultra_riches

Silently, cautiously I creep
through the forests of Neopia
anxiously awaiting
my prized possessions
of bottled Faeries,
as I creep up
with my trusty net in one hand
and a jar in the other.
Using stealth as my ally
I tip toe up to a nearby tree
seeing a group
of Earth Faeries sleeping
I hide in the bushes.
With a gleam in my eye
I leap upon the unsuspecting Faeries
roaring and soaring with pride.
I leap about here and there,
picking on the slow and the weak,
I quickly pick
the dazed Earth Faeries
up with my net
and then shove them in jars.
As the lucky ones scurry
I bellow out a massive roar!
As the forest shakes with fear
I stampede away
and out of sight.
