Once I had an album,
And it was very small.
I got it for my stamps,
And thought to get them all.

At first I found them cheaply
(My purse was unaffected),
But after several hundred,
My pride was aptly tempered.

Soon the pockets deepened,
And the numbers added fell,
From stamps to coconuts,
Charming charms and shells.

I feared I would be ruined
By this grasping hobby;
What started out as fun
Has left me quite unhappy.

My funds were run quite dry,
At last I stopped the spree.
I don't know about you,
But that's enough for me.

It could've been different.

But your refusal to interfere
took everything away.

The Faeries Are Back

'The faeries are back,'
writes the reporter
of the Neopian Times
as she stands and waits
for her audience with the
faerie queen herself,
and she imagines gold
praises awaiting her at
home and a new desk
by the window too.

'The faeries are back,'
reads the old Kyrii,
and he folds his paws
and takes off his
glasses for a moment
to think about how
in his day
the faeries stayed put
right where they were
supposed to be.

'The faeries are back,'
says the tour guide
with a flashy smile
that accompanies all his lies
to the ignorant tourist
who is so knowledgeable
about some things
but doesn't have a clue
about others.

'The faeries are back,'
shouts the little Zafara girl
to no one who is
listening and no one
who will care
but the garden
in the sunshine
and the butterflies.

'The faeries are back,'
breathes the world
with a sigh of relief
that things are no longer
upside-down
backward topsy-
turvy crazy weird,
now that the faeries
are back where they
ought to be.

Seems less boring, too.

Might have all ceased to be,
Save for the hard work
Of good Moss Tullerby!
