ACARA DAY SPECIAL

The Acara from Maraqua
By Dragonstorm_75

Its slippery, slimy, green, and drenched
Tentacles crawling, slithering to prey.
Around its victim they harshly clenched,
Far beneath the fishing quay.

The Maraquan Acara, reclusive as always,
With golden, wide eyes and a sinister smile.
It traverses through the watery ways,
With its rarity the hapless it does beguile.

Swimming around the ruins of old,
Six tentacles splayed as it cut through the ocean.
A fallen palace it does behold,
And strangely enough, the pet does hasten.

For within there hides a slug-like beast,
The nightmare of our slippery friend.
The Acara is worried, to say the least,
So it swims away, lest the beast it offend.

Few the Maraquan pet does fear,
Should it respect, you may find a friend most loyal.
But your friendship better be sincere,
Lest bad things do come... this is my counsel.

Spellbound
By Precious_katuch14

From the town of White River she hails,
An Acara, Mipsy is her name.
She waves a wand and calls out spells,
Indeed, sorcery is her game.
From a lowly apprentice she has risen,
Now a skilled sorceress who knows fame.

It all started with Rohane's invitation
To travel the world and seek adventure.
Mipsy's spirit, so free and wild,
Could not resist exploring's allure!
It didn't take long for her to decide
And jump up with a definite, excited 'Sure!'

Bearogs flee when her wand is aglow,
Undead mummies shrink away from its light.
Always there no matter what goes wrong,
Mipsy sticks around for any fight.
Shouting her incantations to the sky above,
Hoping that they can help set things right.

Together she and Velm harness the power,
Back to back, an unstoppable pair.
Stepping aside, she lets Talinia aim and shoot
With deadly accuracy astounding and rare.
Always lurking behind Rohane's sword
(To the element of surprise, none can compare!)

And through it all, Mipsy's smile shines,
No matter how many times she falls.
Though (sadly) not known for her strength,
This sorceress continues to stand tall.
When friends are in need and villains abound,
Mipsy will truly answer that distress call!

The Shadow Acara Bandit
By Soaringeagle25

Dappled shadows splash the floor
Of the forest that towers tall.
Wind whispers through the branches;
A nearby Crokabek calls.

Creeping by the darkened trunks,
An Acara makes his silent way.
Garbed in dun and velvet vert,
The shrub that cloaks him sways.

A raven mask guards his face,
Hiding his little-known identity.
With sable fur and icy blue eyes,
He peers from behind a tree.

His gaze falls upon the dusty road,
Which travellers tread, wary.
For his infamy is well-known
By those who much riches carry.

Patient ever, the affluent he stalks,
Those unfortunate to stumble past.
He ambushes without a warning
The rich who carry a wealth vast.

Roberta's Claim to Fame
By Reina_punk

The niece of King Hagan, a diplomat?
That may make sense to you,
But my natural power and intuition
gave me a different point of view.

I yearned to learn of spellcasting,
and alchemy as well!
My mentor, Seradar the sorcerer,
had these secrets to tell!

Together we rode upon Solarin,
to investigate dark clouds in Meridell.
Encountering the Darkest Faerie,
we understood this was her spell!

From Meridell to Faerieland,
we discovered Fyora's Rod,
which dispelled dark engulfing clouds,
and the Dark Faerie Sisters -- outlawed!

From Faerieland to Altador,
we awakened sealed heroes!
Jerdana's Orb was the secret key
to imprison our main foe!

The Darkest Faerie defeated at last,
she definitely won't be missed.
No diplomatic decisions for me,
I knew I'd become a sorceress!

Lucy, Acara Nurse of Meepit Oaks Sanitorium
By Rosabellk

I write this letter from my cell
In which I'm cruelly locked;
In it I just wish to tell
My story; don't be shocked.
It's really quite a ghastly tale.
Now listen, I'll recite
Just how I ended in this jail
And how began this blight.

My name is Lucy; I'm a nurse
At stately Meepit Oaks.
(Or rather, 'was,' for since this curse
The past seems like a joke.)
I cared for patients, dressed their wounds,
And chased away their fears.
Along with Doctor Valus, spooned
Them food and brought them cheer.

Valus, Miles, and I had
A life of relative ease.
Although surrounded by the mad,
We felt mostly at peace.
But all that changed within a day
When that smooth-talking Krawk
Brought his potion to allay
Our patients' ills and stock.

He claimed his name was Alexander.
His skin was scaly, blue.
It seemed that he would always gander,
With yellow eyes, at you.
He said his brew would aid our jobs;
A doctor, claimed to be.
But really, he just came to rob
Us of our sanity.

We gave the potion to out inmates.
We simply had no clue
About the doom that'd soon await
Due to that trickster's brew.
Our patients turned to awful beasts;
They killed Valus and Miles.
Me, for some reason, they at least
Left here to rot a while.

And so I'm here, stuck in a cell
Which I once used to tend.
I feel as hollow as a shell.
I wait now for the end.
My only company, a flower
That Krawk gave to me.
I only hope it has the power
To set my spirit free.

Acara Acrobat
By Concertogreat_8 and Phoenix_through_fire

Fine silvery lines cross-criss,
A network over an empty abyss.
Wingless flight across night's tent,
An Acara graceful, Fyora-sent.

Frosty snowflakes fall from silent sky,
A silent warning, a whispered lie.
A serenade, soft, dipping to a swoon,
Acara Acrobat salutes the moon.

Clad in white, she shines bright,
A dangerous apparition in the night.
One pointed toe touches the shining line,
Silver in moonlight, only ordinary twine.

It waits, silent, still, let it stare,
The Acara Acrobat is unaware.
Reflections on a silver lake,
The future was never difficult to take.

Dancing across foreign lands,
Arms outstretched, shadow on sands.
Away into the night she flies,
A figure spun of dreams and lies.

The Maraquan Captain
By Buurin

Neopians are rejoicing from both far and near
For the Yooyuball tournament is finally here!
Who will win riches and everlasting fame
In this fast-paced and fiercely played game?

Although everyone hopes that they will win
Only one team can manage to rise above the din.
And everyone has a favorite team,
Mine is Maraqua -- see what I mean?

The Maraquan team has the very best players;
Even if they lose, they don't listen to nay-sayers,
For every year they try all their might
To win first place, but it's such a fight.

There's a Koi as the goalie who does a great job,
And add a Skeith, Aisha, and Techo into the mob.
But one member of the team stands out the most,
The captain, Elon, is the one we all toast.

Elon's an Acara, his nickname is "The Black Hole,"
Because he'll never let the other team score a goal.
Sometimes he won't pass the ball, tries to be a star,
But that's not the way to get very far.

He scores goal after goal, his teammates sit back,
Letting their captain pick up all the slack,
But that's not the way the game should be played
Even if goal after goal is made.

Maybe next year Team Maraqua will get it together,
If they get their teamwork to be better than ever.
Work together, pass Yooyu, show that you're strong;
"Black Hole" captain will never steer you wrong.

A Gentler Heart Never Existed
By Nut862

Look out on a sunny day in springtime,
When fields harbour Babaas capering round,
When grasses and buds are in their prime,
And new flowers burst fresh from the ground;
See the Acara reposing there,
Her cheeks aglow with rosy summer sun,
With delicate blossoms twined in her hair,
She carries out work that is never done.

Her work is to care for the world's Petpets,
Giving them the love that the land cannot,
From morning's first light till when the sun sets,
She speaks with each one that comes to her spot.
Young creatures that have newly left their home,
Leaving behind the holes their mothers dug,
Unsure and not knowing whither to roam,
Are welcomed into Fauna's arms with a hug.

Fauna's charms could tame the meanest Wadjet,
Her soft words silence any Kadoatie.
There has never been any creature yet
That scorned gentle Fauna's inner beauty.
In her words they hear the love in her heart;
They know there is nobody she'd condemn.
They know that although one day they'll part,
When they return she'll always welcome them.

The Price of Loyalty
By Anjie

Where victory is up for bid,
Where vile deals are done.
Allegiance offered for a price,
She's loyal, though, to none.
Is it easy, Ylana?
To keep the thoughts at bay?
The part you play is meaningless,
And just for those who pay.

Where bravest creatures fear to walk,
Where heroes dare not tread.
She ventures to the darkest lands,
Without a trace of dread.
Not for glory nor for joy,
For victory or fun.
Ylana fights for those who pay,
No more than hired gun.

Finding those who others seek,
She quickly hunts her prey.
Commissioned by an evil mind,
To keep 'problems' at bay.
It matters not what's right or wrong,
Which side deserves to win.
If moral contrasts haunt her mind,
She keeps them deep within.

No mercy deep in cobalt gaze,
The job her only care.
Without the shine of golden coins,
She wouldn't be 'round there.
The common good? She could care less,
No kindness in her thought.
But none expect it, not from her,
When loyalty is bought.

All About the Acara
By Indulgences

Acaras are aquatic pets
Whose thick, dense fur and wide-set eyes
Are useful to their nighttime swims
In oceans under moonlit skies.

They breathe quite easy, floating thus,
Atop the surface or below.
The seas and oceans of the world
Are rich in charm, Acaras know!

They first appeared one April day
In Neopets' first public year.
Once labelled "Tigrens," they've evolved
Into the pets we hold so dear!

Around 8 million do exist.
They're pets and heroes, villains too.
One famed Acara we all know
Is titled Princess Fernypoo!

There's also one Masila femme
Whose Thieves Guild exploits made us quake.
There's Mipsy, skilled as sorcerer,
Whose foes are slaughtered in her wake.

There's Vira, once a pretty lass,
Who viewed herself with such love
That she was tainted by a curse
From some dark faerie high above.

They're champions, martyrs, soldiers, saints.
They're wizened scholars, silly fools.
Acaras are a lively bunch!
They're quite immune to ridicule!
So honour them today, my friends!
Acara Day comes once a year.
Go get them trained for free, and then
We'll celebrate with such fine cheer!
