Found: A Friend

Many before have asked my name
And I will always reply with the same answer:
Does it matter?
For does it really?

Year after year, I have wandered
This Neopia, and still I have not found
What I am looking for,
And in vain I have searched.

Know I not what I search for,
Day and night,
But my, oh my, I wish
I could find it!

Days slip past like water
Between my fingers
And life seems pointless,
Something will change, however.

There, in front of me,
I see the thing that
I have been searching for:
A Petpet -- a friend.

Niptor

Glassy eyes and dainty claws,
Niptor scrambles up the vine.
Glinting scales like shattered shells
One by one adorn his spine.

Petpetpets brush his glossy cheeks
As he scales each tree with ease.
Flowers burst and, as he climbs,
Lose their petals to the breeze.

Every vine within his grip
Trembles like a tightrope wire.
To and fro he waves his tail
And continues higher and higher.

Birds of every size and shape
Whiz like rockets past his nose.
Here they live and build their nests
Where the golden apple grows.

Past the lush bromeliads
Where the sprightly blossoms dance,
Niptor tightly grips the trees,
Casting down one furtive glance.

Suddenly his vision blurs
And the vertigo sets in.
Little Niptor, way up high,
feels a pinch of fear within.

Clinging tightly to the bark
As the tree creakily sways,
Niptor shuts his glassy eyes,
Wishing all his fear away.

Suddenly a blinding light
Cascades from above the leaves,
And a faerie fair descends
From the sultry canopies.

Into her sun-toasted arms
Leaps the trembling dinosaur.
As she holds him close he says,
"I won't climb trees anymore!"

The Life of an Oscillabot

Far away at the Virtupets Space Station,
A creature so small wallows,
Dreaming of the day,
It would come out of the shadows.

Left in the Robo-Petpet Shop,
Where it would stay to rot,
A broken robot would be in the corner thinking,
'Who would want such a bot?'

But as the day passes,
So does a mad old lady,
Another Petpet won't hurt,
It might even be handy!

Mrs. Williams has left the bot,
Along with other Petpets,
To stay home with a Petpetsitter,
The Oscillabot would go mad, it bets!

But soon the bot would be thrown in the garage,
Getting fixed, tweaked, and improved,
The Oscillabot thinks to itself happily,
'I guess my life isn't so doomed!'

All Those Petpets

The Angelpuss is dancing today,
The Babaa hides under a bed,
The Candychan is not exploring,
He's talking to a Cadro instead.

What's the Snuffly doing over there?
Is he searching the ground for food?
The Pinklet plays a game of cards,
Today, everyone is in a good mood.

The Piraket tries to steal a coin,
Because it's shining so brightly,
But the Minitheus is careful
And holds the coin quite tightly.

A Jinjah runs into the room,
He is amazed by the large crowd
That came together here today
To sing and dance and laugh out loud.

Petpet Appreciation Day
Is what we call this special day,
When the Petpets come together
By a very large buffet.

The Snuffly has now found the food,
The Snorkle ate the cake already,
'At least,' the Snuffly thinks to himself,
'There's lots more food for me here already.'

And so the Petpets celebrate
On this special occasion today,
Laughter greets those who arrive
From everywhere, who made the way.

A legend, most do say.
About the chaos that takes place
On Petpets' special day.

Such celebrations always held,
And hectic things unfold.
For nothing's ever quite as mad,
As parties Petpets hold!

From lights do Puppyblews all swing,
The Meepits run amok!
Streamers hang from party hats,
Worn by each Altachuck!

Warfs shall cook a hefty feast,
A cake of towering height,
Iced with tiny Petpet shapes,
Consumed with great delight.

Plates and forks shall not be used,
For small beasts just don't care.
Kadoaties are the worst, it seems,
They never want to share.

A dance held by the Flightning Bugs,
(Though no one will join in.)
Petpet stores are tricky, see,
For chaos dwells within!

Snowickles chase Kookith groups,
The Snoogies shy away.
Never has a sight been seen,
Like scenes on Petpets' day!

Maraqua Celebrates Petpet Appreciation Day

Pink, red, and white stripes framed by green wings,
A scaled body whips through clean, blue oceans.
Caught up in song, the Candychan's voice rings
Out, his soul caught up in such emotions.

For on this most blissful of days, he seeks
To celebrate with all of his brothers.
"Petpet Appreciation Day!" they shriek
In a great joy, their happiness smothers.

All of the Maraquan Petpets gather,
Making their underwater home shimmer.
They make Maraqua brighter or, rather,
In their light, the world has gotten dimmer.

For swimming side by side their best friends, they
Recognise, this is the best place to stay.

Filamen floats, dreaming,
his tender light softly gleaming,
Yellow radiance gently streaming
As the sun lowers, day slowly dying.
The Filamen's favourite time of year
is early summer, when twilight lingers
a long while in the darkening skies,
and the Filamen shines, a perfect
small sun, and fills the drowsy
Air with his little light. He

The Under-Appreciated Rock

It sits and it stares.
It won't ruin the carpet
Or chew on the stairs.

Neither scurry nor flurry
Will disturb a night's sleep.
You don't need to feed it,
(Quite easy to keep!)

Patient and quiet,
It won't bite the guests
Or bark and scrape at the door
When you're trying to rest.

It's quite useful, also,
As a decorative paperweight --
Just paint it a new colour
To make it ornate.

The Perfect Petpet for Spring

I've had the most dreadful of winters,
It has strained all of my mental powers.
I've been trying to find a good Petpet,
But none seem to last more than hours.

My Cirrus joined the circus.
My Floud floated away.
My Babaa started counting things,
And goes on night and day.
My Snowbunny was eaten by the Polarchuck,
And the Feepit pulled the Drugal bald:
*pluck* *pluck* *pluck* *pluck* *pluck*

I thought I'd be safe with a Hopso,
Yet in one hop it bid me "so long"...
But now that sweet spring is approaching,
I can see where my thinking was wrong.

I've had it with these fluffy pets,
Weak from their heads to their toes!
I'm getting an Abominable Snowball,
For nothing can happen to those!
