MUTANT DAY SPECIAL
A Stand for the Mutant
By Cocoa_nut12
Give pause, my friends, and think today
Of words you often hear or say;
Say you a mutant holds no pride,
Yet plucks a willful sense to hide
From those who chase to mock him and his plight,
Familiar smile forced to veil pain that's inside.
Brand of beauty forged by society
May not necessarily be
What nature gives easily to all: I declare,
Friends! We've been fooled -- yet fools we've been;
Bound not by ignorance, but by our stubborn pride;
Give to each one your goodwill and restore it again.
Perhaps, my friends -- to think, to know
That something else inside him grows,
A dream to start, a will to fight,
For knowledge built in joy and pain;
Causes not his shame to grow in dark solitude,
But hopes to shine as sunlight through the rain.
There will always be injustice, true;
But think, my friend -- aren't you strange, too?

On Mutant Day They Gather
By Yurble10101
On Mutant Day they gather,
The unwanted, lonely ones
Hiding from the cruel, cold world
Never wanted; always shunned.
Universally misunderstood,
Hated, teased, and glared at
By vain and shallow Neopets
Who act no better than lowly rats.
On Mutant Day they gather,
The unwanted, lonely ones
Hiding from the cruel, cold world
Never wanted; always shunned.
Confused and sad the mutants are,
Trapped in everlasting woe,
Taunted, pushed, and bullied
Wherever they happen to go.
On Mutant Day they gather,
The unwanted, lonely ones
Hiding from the cruel, cold world
Never wanted; always shunned.
Crying in a forest I found a mutant pet,
I took her home and cared for her
And raised her to be glad
That being mutant doesn't mean
You have to be so sad.
On Mutant Day they gather,
The unwanted, lonely ones
Hiding from the cruel, cold world
Never wanted; always shunned.
But hopefully this world will change
And mutants far and near
Will come together and share their love
And no longer live in fear.

The Mutant Draik
By Scenette
Twisted, peculiar, repulsive.
A Draik once beautiful is seething with rage,
Stomping with anger as her flesh mutates.
No longer do her wings flutter gently by --
No, now they're torn and they're battered.
Her eyes are full of evil, and rotten are her insides.
The dreaded potion, the terrible transformation,
It's pretty grisly when you get down to look at it.
Scales on the floor, a feather here and there,
And overall, the result is quite hideous;
But one day, we'll learn to
Love the ghastly appearance.
Stepping out into the burning sunlight,
The Draik recoils back to shadows, shrieking.
Darting to and fro, Neopets stand in terror,
But she means no harm, at least not to them.
To them she's strange and she's dangerous.
A small tear escapes from her eye --
She's not beautiful to them now; she's ugly,
But who said the outside was all that matters?
Her kindness and her heart remain unchanged,
It's only her appearance
That is noticeably deranged...
Loving, caring, misunderstood.

Mutant Friendship
By Concertogreat_8
It's odd, I really didn't know, that day.
Should I have seen they wouldn't let him play?
It's odd, I didn't see, and didn't even look,
I wasn't paying attention, it never really took.
The hugs and warmth extended to all,
The party full of laughs and cheers a ball.
Or so I thought; I guess it wasn't all like that.
I guess maybe I didn't notice till it went splat.
I didn't realise only faerie pets spoke to me,
A royal, some Maraquans, a spotted, possibly.
I wasn't paying attention to my own colour-paint;
To me my wings meant little, faerie's not so great.
I see now, I see now much too late,
How it feels for your own face to hate.
It's odd, I confess, to remember how I was,
And not understand his look of pain, of loss.
When I saw him in the corner, I know, knew
Exactly how he felt and wished he'd grew,
Prettiness like roses coming from the ground.
If he only knew beauty's worth pence for pound.
I walked up to him, then, and I know I would,
Would where no one else ever could.
His tears weren't ugly when I saw them,
They were beautifully shining like some gem.
I took his hand and whispered in his ear,
"Trust me, there's no need to fear."
Perhaps they, perhaps they were shocked.
Shocked to see him, his emotions locked
Away for so long, and now open and raw,
Only because a paw was extended in friendship
To a mutant Skeith.

Albert the Mutant Kacheek
By Anjie
Eerie glow from pallid sky,
Obsidian, the clouds drift by.
So quickly ended is this pause,
Esophagor soon parts his jaws.
For Albert hearing angry roar,
He fears it means another chore.
The weary Kacheek drags his feet,
Seeking yet another treat.
Some morsel that the beast demands,
For Albert bows to his commands.
Esophagor brings grief and strife,
When he rules over your own life.
This poor Kacheek, oh long ago,
Was not the enslaved soul we know.
His garden was his greatest joy,
A hobby one walk would destroy.
Kacheek of spotted hue did find,
Himself in rather tragic bind!
Esophagor caught him fast,
And robbed him of his carefree past.
Kacheek now mutant, and enslaved,
Deprived of freedom he so craved.
Now he bows to monster's word,
Whenever hungry roar is heard.
He brings him back disgusting treats,
Which beast with gluttony soon eats.
Each time he hopes he'll be released,
But so far torment has not ceased.
From Albert's life, a lesson, good,
To never linger in the wood.
