Creating Pets
How do I get a Draik?
Draiks can be obtained from three ways: a Morphing Potion, a Transmogrification Potion, and a Draik Egg. Transmogrification Potions (or 'Transmogs') are received through rare events as a gift from Sloth, and will turn your pet into a Mutant Draik. Morphing Potions (or 'MP's') are purchased from the Magic Shop, but are extremely rare and hard to get. Draik Eggs (or 'DE's') stock infrequently in Merifoods. However, while a Morphing Potion will change an existing pet, a Draik Egg requires you to create a new pet, with an untaken name and a random gender. All three of these items can be purchased from the Trading Post, Auctions. Draiks cannot be created through Create-A-Pet at any time of year.
For more information, please visit E's page
How do I get a Krawk?
Krawks can be obtained, like Draiks, from only three ways: Krawk petpets, Krawk Transmogrification Potions, and Krawk Morphing Potions. The item 'Krawk' is a rarity 99 petpet that stocks seldomly in Tyrannian Petpets. It must be taken to the Fungus Cave to be turned into a full sized Krawk, which requires an untaken name. It will also receive a random gender. Krawk Transmogrification Potions (or 'Transmogs') ar received through rare events as a gift from Sloth, and will turn your pet into a Mutant Krawk. Morphing Potions (or 'MP's') are purchased from the Magic Shop, but are extremely rare and hard to get. Both Transmogrification Potions and Morphing Potions can be used on existing pets. Krawks cannot be created through Create-A-Pet at any time of year.
For more information, please visit Rift's page
How do I get a Poogle?
Poogles can be obtained from three ways: a Magical Poogle Toy, a Poogle Morphing Potion, or through creation. Magical Poogle toys are rare plushies that can be purchased rarely from the Plushie Palace; if your pet plays with it, it will change into the designated species. It is a one-time use item. Morphing Potions (or 'MP's') are purchased from the Magic Shop, but are extremely rare and hard to get, and will change one of your existing pets into a Poogle. Poogles are also released in limited numbers every year on September 19th, on the Create-A-Pet page.
For more information, please visit ---------.
How do I get a Lutari?
Lutaris can only be obtained from two ways: the Secret Laboratory Map, or from Lutari Island on your cell phone. The Secret Laboratory Map (or 'Lab') is a collection of 9 separate map pieces that can be found at random around the site. All nine pieces must be compiled to have access to the lab once a day. However, the outcome is completely random: apart from changing your pets species, it will also change its color, gender, and statistics. The other option for a Lutari is paying to download Neopets on your cellphone. Although you can create Lutaris at any time through your phone, it must be paid for with real money and is not supported by all carriers.
For more information, please visit My Lutari Article in the Neopian Times.
What does 'Limited Edition' mean?
The term 'Limited Edition' ( or 'LE') means that a pet is not available for creation at any time during the day. Some, like the Tonu, can be created once a day (only while the Omelette in Tyrannia is gone) while others can only be created on his or her designated day*. Check the Neopian Calendar to determine the specific day of each pet. Any LE pet can be obtained through various Transmogrification Potions and Morphing Potions. The final way is through the purchase of a Myserious Swirly Potion: if given, it will change your pet into a random LE species while leaving the color unaltered.
*Note: Draiks and Krawks cannot be created on their assigned day.
For more information about Limited Edition pets, please visit --------.
For more information about Mysterious Swirly Potions, please visit -------.
What does 'Restricted' mean?
A 'Restricted' pet is one, like the Limited Edition, that is not available for creation at any time during the day. However, unlike the LE's, Restricted Pets have never been creatable through Create-A-Pet. The only two pets that are currently Restricted are the Grundo and the Krawk. Krawks have never been, and will never be, available for Creation. However, Grundos are available at any time of the year at the Space Station. In addition to being available in the four basic colors, Grundos can also be adopted in Brown, White, and Purple.

Painting Your Pet
How do I paint my pet?
You can change your pets color in a number of ways. Most obviously, through the use of a Paint Brush. If you happen to find or purchase one, you can take it to the Rainbow Pool* in the middle of Neopia Central to use it. There are also Morphing Potions, which change both pet color and species, and Transmogrification Potions, which turn your pet into a Mutant of that species. If you are lucky enough to receive a Faerie Quest from the rare Fountain Faerie, she may grant you access to her magical pool, in which you can paint one pet any color of your choice (excluding MSPP, and Royal.) If you're a little more daring, there are a few 'chance' ways of painting your pet. The Secret Laboratory Map will change your pets color through a lucky zap, though the result is totally random and not guaranteed. A Turnip Tonic, the cheaper alternative for the brave, is a relatively cheap item that will change your pet into any Basic color (Red, Yellow, Blue, Green.) This is a nice option for pet owners using a Transmogrification Potion to create their pet. The final way of chance is through a Flask of Rainbow Fountain Water. Obtained when fishing with a very high level, this colorful liquid will change your pet into ANY color at random.
*Note: the Rainbow Pool is not updated. Paint at your own risk!
For a list of current pet colors, please visit Shieboo's page.
For more information about Flasks of Rainbow Fountain Water, please visit Bae's page.
Where can I get a Paint Brush?
Paint Brushes can be obtained from a number of ways. At any point, they can be purchased from the Auctions, Trading Post or Shop Wizard. They can also be found at random around the site, or won from the Neocola or Nerkmid Machines, the various site "Wheels," and scratchcards. They cost anywhere from 10,000-6,000,000 Neopoints.
For more information about Paint Brushes, please visit -------.
What does a Plushie Paint Brush do?
Look pretty :) Plushie Paint Brushes serve absolutely no purpose in regards to painting a pet. Please be careful when looking at Trades to make sure you are buying a Paint Brush, and not the Plushie. Remember: if it seems like it is too good to be true, it probably is!
Can I use a Retired Paint Brush?
It depends. If a Paint Brush, such as the Faerie Paint Brush, is retired, it simply means it is no longer available as a prize. It is perfectly acceptable to use as a Paint Brush. The exception lies in the two colors Glass and Stone. These were once available as colors but no longer exist on the site. Although the colors are no longer available, the Paint Brushes still remain, so do not be fooled. You cannot use a Glass or Stone Paint Brush on your pet.
Pet Care
Help! My pet turned a color!
There are three instances in which your pet can change colors through random events. The most common (though extremely rare) is Boochi. He is a Baby Bruce sporting a ray gun that can randomly turn your active Neopet into a baby. This is a very rare occurance—some people will never see Boochi in years on the site. (I personally have seen him once, but my active pet was a Lutari, so she was consequentially missed.) Does the thought of this scare you? Equip a Krawk, Lutari, or Baby pet as your active. If your pet turned Blue or Red, it is because it was upset during a special Random Event. Be sure to keep your pet happy by assuring it is well fed and 'delighted!' by playing with toys or visiting the Merry Go Round and Beach You can check and see how happy your pet is by clicking on the Stats page, accessed by clicking on the name of your Ative Pet.
My pet is sad/dying! What do I do?
Remember, your pet cannot die under any circumstances. However, there are a number of negative Random Events that could occur from your pet being unhappy. Visit the Beach or Merry Go Round, play with toys, make sure it stays well fed, or give it a Petpet. Even though they are virtual, they still need attention! You can visit the Giant Omelette or Soup Kitchen for free food if you are short on cash.
My pet is sick and I can't afford the medicine!
Medicine can be purchased from the Shop Wizard, Trading Post or Auctions; if you are lucky, you may be able to restock your own from the Pharmacy. If the medicine is cheap, it is probably worth your time to purchase the cure yourself. If it seems out of your price range however, why not visit the Healing Springs every half hour. Eventually, your pet will be cured.
My pet has no Hit Points! What happened?
Most likely, it was a random event that you missed. However, the Snowager, Battledome Fights, and the different Wheels can also lower Hit Points, or HP. Buying a cheap Healing Potion or visiting the Healing Springs should put your pet in fighting shape. If the Healing Springs doesn't give you what you want, and you have at least 1HP left, head to the Battledome and fight the Inflatable Balthazar. He can't hurt you, and when you win a Battledome fight, you are automatically returned to full health.
Exploring Neopia
When does the Snowager sleep?
The Snowager is found in the Ice Caves on Terror Mountain, and is asleep from 6-7am NST, 2-3pm NST, and 10-11pm NST. Between these three times during the day, your time zone should have to suit you. In visiting the Snowager, you're taking a chance—you could win plushies, toys, or maybe even an avatar: but you could also receive an icy blast! Beware.
For more information about the Snowager, visit Eleveno's page.
How come I can't get to Lutari Island?
Lutari Island (which can be seen from the Explore map on the back side of the world) is currently unavailable from Neopets the website, clouded by a thick mist. As of current, the only way to access Lutari Island (and create a Lutari) is through your mobile phone for a fee. Although Neopets has stated Lutari Island may eventually open up for Neopets computer users, the timeframe is unclear.
For more information about Lutari Island, visit Maniverus's page.
Why doesn't the Rainbow Fountain work!
The Rainbow Fountain, located on the right side of Faerieland, is a special part of the site that can only be activated by completing a Fountain Faerie Quest (or 'FFQ'). Not to be confused with the Water Faerie, the Fountain Faerie asks for a r94-r96 item that you have an unlimited amount of time to purchase and return to her. If you find the item she asks for, you then are able to paint one of your pets virtually any color you desire. If you are lucky enough to get a Quest, don't cancel it if them item seems expensive! Play games, work hard and save. When you compare the price of a 500,000 dollar item to a 5,000,000 dollar Paint Brush, your efforts will be well worth it. It is worth noting that there is absolutely no way to increase your chances of receiving a FFQ. Some (myself included) have been playing over 6 years and never had one, while others have had 4 or 5 in a matter of years. Entirely dependant on luck.
For more information about the Fountain Faerie, please visit Colored_buzz's page.
What is the point of the Plushie Grundo?
The short answer: absolutely nothing. The Discarded Magical Blue Grundo Plushie Of Prosperity (or TDMBGPOP for Neopians on the go) is the small blue dot towards the left of Faerieland that says such enlightening things as "…." and if you're lucky, "0_o". There is absolutely nothing to be gained from visiting, so try not to get too wrapped up in its mystery. Neopets has mentioned in an Editorial that it was part of a Sloth plot that was eventually unfinished and dropped, so it will probably never hold significant impotance. A few offsite links have determined that visiting the Plushie Grundo before visiting the Healing Springs increases your chance of getting healed from a particular disease. Why not give it a try!
*As of February 2008, Neopets has re-opened and began the Return of Sloth plot. At this point, the Grundo plays no role; but who is to say what is to come!
What is the Fungus Cave?
The Fungus Cave is the location you visit in order to create your very own Krawk. You must own a Krawk petpet for it to work. You cannot obtain a Krawk from visiting the cave. However, if you own a Krawk, you can receive the "Ghost Krawk" avatar by visiting.
You can visit the Fungus Cave here.
What is the Draik Nest?
The Draik Nest is the location you visit in order to hatch your very own Draik. You must own a Draik Egg for it to work. You cannot obtain a Draik Egg from the nest. However, if you own a Draik, you can receive the "Draik- Hatched" avatar by visiting.
You can visit it here.
Where is the Hidden Tower?
The Hidden Tower can be found to the left of Faerie City, a small link hidden in the clouds. It is not a typical Neopian shop; you cannot Restock there, and there is an infinite number of each item (though some are retired occasionally.) However, you must be over four months to visit the shop. Purchase any one item, and there is an avatar in store for you! You can visit the Hidden Tower here.
Using Shops
What is Restocking?
Restocking is a way of earning money that is equal parts art, science, and luck It involves purchasing items from the various shops around Neopia, and then selling them for market value in your Shop, Trades, or Auctions. It involves lots of time, patience and skill. Not only do you need to know what items are profitable where, but your 'haggle,' or the number you enter to purchase the item, can make the difference between a purchase and a miss. There are no guides to teach you what items are profitable—that is up to you to figure out on your own. Many boards (including the Help Chat) have a running board titled the "Restock Help and Chat!" that is available to answer questions within reason. Be prepared to spend a lot of time learning, loosing money and making mistakes….but the outcome is all worth it :)
For more information about Restocking, please visit Restocker's page.
Help! How much is _____ worth?
If you have an item that doesn't show up on the Shop Wiz, be persistent and keep refreshing at first. Remember that it only shows a small portion of the items for sale at any given time. If you have refreshed 10+ times or checked the Super Shop Wiz (or 'SSW') and are confident it isn't there, be sure to search through the Auctions and Trading Post. If an item is unmarked, put it into your trades and be patient. Check daily, and see if other item owners have begun to price their items. You may also consider searching for your items in other people's galleries (an option available with the Shop Wizard) and Neomail them to ask a rough estimate about what they paid. You could also consult the Trades and Auctions board to ask fellow players what they think.
When I went to a shop, the item was gone!
Remember that you are not the only one browsing the site. There can be as many as 50,000 or 60,000 players browsing at any given time. If you went to purchase an item, especially if it was desirable or for a good deal, it was probably obtained by a faster player. Remember to move faster next time!
For more information about shops, please visit QuadTails's page.
How do I create a shop?
It is impossible to earn money in Neopia without operating a shop of you very own. Head to the second link (its shaped like a house) on the yellow menu bar in the Shops area. From there, follow the instructions to open your own shop for a small fee. You can click on 'edit shop' to change thing such as your shopkeeper, font, and background. It is possible to add items from your inventory to your shop individually, or by using the 'Quick Stock' feature in the Your Items list. Have fun! The sky is the limit.
Help! No one will buy from my shop!
This could be for a number of reasons. First, make sure that your item is competitively priced compared to the rest of Neopia. You need to make sure your item is one of the lowest priced or you will never get it sold. Also, make sure your shop is tasteful and easy to navigate. If you have lots of glaringly bright links, obnoxious images and loud music, people are less likely to hang around long. Less is best!
Playing Games
What games make the most money?
There is no specific way to gauge this. This depends on your particular game talents and how much time and patience you are willing to devote to earning Neopoints. For all games, the maximum amount of Neopoints you can earn in a day is 3,000. (1,000 maximum per play, 3x daily.) Visit the question below, "Where are good game guides?" for a link to dozens of effective game guides.
What games give me avatars?
Earning a game avatar takes a lot of talent and patience. Some people find certain games infinitely easier than others. Keep in mind it can take days or a matter of weeks of practice to earn just one!
For more information about games with avatars, please visit DonSleibhe's page.

When do they award trophies?
Trophies on the High Score Table are handed out every day at around 11:50pm, NST. On the first day of the month, these scores are reset. If you think you are talented enough to try for a trophy, be sure to open a new window after the score has been reset on the first of the month. If your open game window starts before the reset, and ends after it has been done, it will not count.
For information about earning easy trophies, please visit Garmfire's guide.
Help! My game score is being reviewed!
If you are exceptionally good at a game, a score that comes in drastically above the others may be considered for 'review.' This simply means that it is run through a series of tests and evaluated to make sure that you were not using any cheating devices or shady behavior to obtain the score that you did. This is often the case if you are trying for a particular trophy. If you earned your score honestly with your own abilities, don't worry. Neopets will contact you, and award your Neopoints if it is deemed 'earned honestly.'
Earning Neopoints
Where can I get my Freebies?
Your freebies can be redeemed here, once every month. Not only does it give you 2,000 Neopoints, but each of your pets picks up a random free snack! Don't forget to visit.
Why is everything so expensive!
When thinking about the cost of items, keep in mind basic economics: supply is driven by demand. If there is a lot of an item, or if the item is not desireable, the demand is low. Subsequently, the price is low. However, if an item is sought after or if there is a short supply, demand is high. Now this certainly doesn't always apply. The prices of items on this site can occasionally seem excessive. But on the whole, Neopets users determine the appropriate price of an item to purchase. So although you may think something is too expensive, for others this does not seem too unreasonable. Keep earning and working hard, and you should have your goal accomplished in no time!
How can I earn Neopoints fast?
There are many ways to earn Neopoints. Please see the sections about Restocking, Auctions, or Games if you are looking for specific guides in each dicipline.
Jobs
Where can I get a Job Coupon?
Job Coupons can be found all around the site in Random Events, though if you want one right away you'll have to check the Shop Wizard, Auctions or Trading Post. You may also be lucky enough to win a Brightvale Job Coupon from the Wheel of Knowledge in Brightvale. A list of all of the coupons can be found in the Employment Agency, located in Faerie City. Be forewarned: Job Coupons are very expensive and rarely worth the money. Most of them are unbuyable, meaning they cost more than 100,000 Neopoints. Unless you have money to waste and like a game of chance, I would not advocate using Job Coupons as a way of earning Neopoints.
How do I get a job?
To get a 'Basic Job,' or job that doesn't require a Job Coupon, head to the Faerieland Employment Agency and refresh at every :10 after the hour. (12:00, 12:10, 12:20, etc.) When the page loads, click on the job you would like to complete, purchase the items, then return them to the Agency within the allotted amount of time.
