Guild Names
Alot of you may think that it's a waste of time to read tips about choosing a guild name, but in many instances the name may very well be the most important aspect of your guild! I mean, Think about it! when your advertising on the guild chat board, what is the first thing that people see? the name! when I see a name that isn't interesting or unique I by-pass that entire ad and keep looking! So... When choosing a name try to keep it short! nothing like: My fantastical guild of mayhem and madness! lol! thats WAY too long! try fitting that onto a banner! hehe! I usally try to keep between 5 - 12 letters with some exceptions! Now, the most important rule of all when choosing a name for you guild is to match it with your guild! for example, lets say that you have a cutesy girl guild, you wouldn't name it Billy's Wild Wild West Show! NO! thats just weird! lol! so think about what type of guild you'll be making, then find a name that matches it!
Guild Layouts
oh! this is an important one! a key factor when making a guild! Many people won't join a guild if it has a bad, or un-unique layout! (is un-unique a word? Oh well.) If you can make GOOD, UNIQUE layouts then go for it! but many of you can't, so I would suggest choosing a nice pre-made layout. I know, I know... Everyone says that you can't get members with a pre-made layout! I personally don't think that this is true! If you have good content, nice members, and you advertise your butt off! (pardon my french) then you SHOULD get some members! And use good colors! I usually stick with dark fonts and light backgrounds! and while you should have learned how to match colors in kindergarted, many of you just don't get it! not all colors go together! to be safe! make, or find a layout and pull some of the more dominant colors from your layout and use those as your main colors in the guild! simple!
Fonts
again, this one doesn't seem important but trust me, in the long run it IS! I hate it when I visit a guild and they have used some awful, fancy font with curlycues all over the place, or they have used a good font but made it so tiny that you can't read a word of it! stick to simple fonts: tahoma, arial, verdana... and make sure that your background is lighter than your text or else you'll get a major migrane! one more thing! Never, Ever, EVER! TyPe LiKe ThIs!!! I hate it when people decide that it's interesting or CUTE if you type like a maniac! it's not! in fact, it's quite hard to read! and while some words are okay shortened: plz, ppl, lol... That doesn't mean that all words are! when you type lik dis... it just makes you look ignorant! (no offense)
