Morph An Existing Pet.
Using one of the morphing potions listed below, you can change any pet of yours into an elephante. They restock in Kauvara's Magic Shop, however it is often easier to get them through the auction house and trading post. This is especially useful if you are attached to a certain name.
Another way to transform an existing pet into an Elephante is through the use of a transmogrification potion. These potions will change your pets into mutants and can also be purchased through the auction house and trading post. If you are extremely lucky, Dr Sloth may give you one in a random event and if you are even luckier, you could win one from the Neocola Machine.
Receive A Fountain Faerie Quest.
Even though receiving a quest from the fountain faerie can't change a pets species, if you complete it you will be able to paint your pet any colour except for 8-bit, Ice, Magma, MSP, Robot, Royal, Sponge, Quiguki and Usuki.
The item she asks for could be relatively cheap (20-50k), extremely pricey (500k+) or anywhere in between.
Receiving a quest from the fountain faerie is extremely rare and very random. It's not unusual for people to go for more than 5 years without one. However that doesn't mean a new account can't receive one. As I said, they are completely random.
Many pets in need of good homes are simply overlooked in the pound. Your Elephante could be waiting for you right behind that door so take a look.
Alternatively you could search Neopia's long list of privately run adoption agencies. A good place to start your search is Soroptimist Directory. If you have never applied to adopt a pet before then there are a few things you should know. An application guide should be sufficient help.
