plot
the life of the party
For countless moons since their ancestors became the first Clan cats of the area, RowanClan has always thrived and prospered in their forest, filling their bellies each newleaf on the plentiful prey. That is, until now.
The once-rushing rivers have been reduced to mere trickles, the vegetation browned, and in turn, their fresh-kill dwindling to nonexistence. RowanClan is starving and weak as their previously lush territory plummets to the status of a wasteland. Cornered with no other options left to them, they relocate in the attempt to survive.
For days and days they journey, only to be met by they same situation they had left: scenery completely devoid of life. Just as they are ready to give up, their surroundings change abruptly. As they step over an imaginary borderline, everything is lush and green, and prey is running fat and plentiful. RowanClan is quick to take advantage and settle in this oasis, able to feast on the abundant prey.
As their strength waxes, though, strange details of their surroundings begin to come to their attention: the way the tall sweeping branches of the trees seem to block out much of the sun's light and warmth, bathing the territory in eternal twilight; the way that, even on a clear night, not a single star can be seen in the sky; the way that no matter how the medicine cat tries, StarClan seems unable hear or respond to his words. And, of course, the Ghosts. Slightly translucent cats that flicker on the edges of their vision and whisper in their ears.
Torn between the need to feed the Clan and the fear of their mysterious new "home", may cats fall under the Ghosts' spell, the malevolent spirits spurring their anxieties and tugging at their loyalties. Soon, squabbles break out among Clanmates and whispers of mutiny spread throughout the Clan. As cats begin to fight amongst themselves, they realize one more important detail: as their Clanmates die, their spirits appear among the Ghosts' ranks. The previous Clan members wish their old Clanmates no harm, and finally inform RowanClan of the truth: This "oasis" they moved into is actually territory of the Dark Forest, and the Ghosts are the spirits of the cats banished from StarClan. Should every RowanClan cat die here, they would be trapped in the Dark Forest, wandering alone and exiled.
Can RowanClan pull themselves together fast enough to escape the Dark Forest, or will they be confined in there forever as Ghosts?
rules
our version of the warrior code
Q: What do you call a guild without rules?A: Chaos.
Nobody likes them, but in order to avoid anarchy and destruction, we must include them. Sorry guys! Please read through these before filling out the application.
general rules
001. The rule of thumb - be kind to every member, including the newbies!002. No chatspeak or leetspeak. The occasional "lol" is okay, but sRsLy n0 1 c4n undrst4nd u wh3n u t4lK lYk d1$.
003. Spam will result in an automatic suspension. Continuous spam even after your suspension will result in a ban. Enough said.
004. There is no council application. We select our members through their behavior on the boards and dedication to the guild, so don't get in any trouble! Begging will only get you down lower on the list.
005. Try to get on at least four days a week. Members who are inactive for two weeks will be automatically deleted. If you are going to be gone for a long period of time, please inform a council member or announce it on the boards so we don't throw you in the trash.
006. Save the drama for your llama. No fights on the boards please. If you must, do it over Neomail. If it gets out of hand, contact a council member to settle it down.
role play rules
001. Absolutely no chatspeak in character! We do understand the occasional typo and grammar mistake, but we know you know better than to use "u" rather than "you". Please capitalize and punctuate in role play as well.002. Since we are a literate - advanced role play guild, you should know that one-liners are a big no-no. So just to make sure, seven sentences at the least per role play post. Any posts underneath this minimum will be deleted. But remember, quality is better than quantity!
003. Zip, zero, nada, zilch powerplaying, god-modeling, or auto-attacking! If you're not sure what these are, please don't be shy to ask on the boards or Neomail a council member.
004. Keep to PG-13. Birthing scenes are okay, but don't go overboard on the details. Same with battle scenes - no one wants to read about your cat tearing out some rogue's guts and squishing its eyeballs in his teeth. No baby-making scenes whatsoever.
character rules
001. Please give your characters realistic names that the cats actually know about. No man-made objects, mythical creatures, gems, etc. Bad examples would be Fairybell and Sapphireengine. What kind of a name is Sapphireengine?002. No green fur or purple eyes or star-and-moon-shaped markings. No matter how much you love them, you can't have them. Sorry.
003. Keep your character's age and rank reasonable. No warriors that are 10 moons old or queens that are still apprentices.
004. Moon, star, and Silverpelt are sacred to the Clan and may not be used in names.
005. You may have as many characters as you desire, but don't go overboard, or else the council will have to tell you to start role playing the cats that have been collecting dust in your attic.
006. Queens may have a maximum of five kits per litter. The role players of the parents may role play one kit each, but all other kits must be "adopted" by other members. The parents may decide what the litter's fur colors are, but they must be approved by the council. Names will be decided by the kit's role player, but they must be approved by the parents.

A cold haze had settled over the forest as Nightwing stared out across its bleak silence. Leaf-bare had come swift and hard, but while the others could only complain about the lack of prey and incidents of greencough, the she-cat could see something to be appreciated in the frost-bitten world. The /silence/. The silence was a beautiful thing.
The stillness that grasped the forest in those early hours was like death, a beautiful glittering death, as the sun rose and melted the overcast sky, setting the fresh sheen of white frost to sparkling.
The others would think her stupid, of course, if she told them about the sight. They had other things to care about, like hunting. She snorted. /Hunting the prey that isn't there?/ In her opinion, time was better spent enjoying what they could. If the rumors were true…if they were really trapped in this forsaken forest, wasn't it wise to appreciate the little they had? /But they think it's nonsense./
Her ears pricked suddenly as she began to make out a hissing of voices. Was the dawn patrol returning already? They'd only just set out! Nightwing rose to her paws and padded towards the entrance of the camp to greet them, stiffening in alarm as she sensed the tension that snapped from the cats.
What happened?" she whispered urgently, afraid to wake the sleeping clan. Her eyes flickered worriedly over the faces of her snow-encrusted clanmates as she waited for an answer.

003. Make a character and start role playing! Isn't that the entire point of the guild?
