May 15th 09 ••• Hello! C: I'm working on the article for this right now, and until then this will just be a random page floating around. I hope to get everything up before AC IV starts up, but I can only hope.

about this page

Reporter Fire Princess here, giving you the latest multi-colored scoop on Neopia's cheeriest team. As the title says, I'm here in the great city of Altador to find out if the 'Winners Curse' will effect Roo Island. Will RI take a nosedive to the bottom of the charts, falling below their usual standard of not straying from the top four teams?

Joyce:

Me: "Okay, Joyce. I'm Fire Princess, could I ask you a few questions about Roo Island?"

Joyce: "Sure, go ahead. I will try my best to answer them."

Me: "What do you think about Roo Island, as a team? Do you think they're dedicated to playing?"

Joyce: "I've been with Roo island since ACI, following ACII and ACIII. I would give RI a 4/5 star ratings as a team. We played exceptionally well last year. We were very organized and had a handful of dedicated players. We went into the cup and do what we can to bring the cup back, many people are thinking the pirates are favorites to lift last year's cup, but we did it. I guess its because we have such marathons boards, score keepers, challengers between our own teammates like the MOBBING system we had. Max Or Burst. By that we did it as a team, we avoid defeats with the likes of KI and SH. However, sometimes when people can't play much on their team, theres always another handful of players will do the extra mile to 'cover up' for the adsent of another particular player. I think without team work and good relationship within their own players, sheer hardwork is not enough. You need to be BOND as a team. Passion for playing for them. This is why i think that ROO island played well as a team. Reports have shown that i was the top RI player ( contributor ) but i dare not say i was the one that lift the cup for Roo island, because by judging from our finalist, the pirates have way more top players than us with more wins and goals scored than me, but i guess with our more dedicate players doing the extra mile than theirs, we came up better with more all-stars than them. Its the team that makes the player, not the player that makes the team. I thank Roo Island for the team work we had, the team was there, friends and all. We're more than just a team. 4 out of 5 stars because there is always room for improvement."

Me: "In Y8 (Aka: AC I), Roo Island won the 'Most Sportsmanlike Team' award, and it doesn't seem like much has changed in the seasons after. I'd like to see it stay that way, personally. Do you think they will make it to the top four in Altador Cup IV?"

Joyce: "I agree. We're still contenders for the most sportsmanlike team award without a doubt. I believe to uphold this award, the true roos will still weight sportsmanship above the cup itself. Reputation is much more important, Why i say this? There was once during a important 2 day match, Meridell and then Lost desert, we were being disturbed by other fans where by we click a neo link and we will post auto messages at other people board to wreck others up or to put down other teams. But that did not stop us from winning and letting our guards down, after the matches, we went on to other teams to apologise and was cleared up in the air after explaination was given. The other teams players also knew we would not do this kind of stuffs and thats were our reputation for sportslike team award came about. This year's contenders are much stronger than last year, i mean the teams are always improving. Lets take a look at the facts. Kredulor had just came back in ACIII but they had lots of quality in them with lots of decent players. They also recieve the most improved team award last year when RI won the cup. Kredulor also beat RI on the latter of Round robin. I would say Kredulor have a better chance to go top tier than Roo island this year as they are bound to improve great lenghts. Krawk Island have been contenders for all 3 years. No doubt they will be there on top tier too. Left 2 spots for the take. We have Lost Desert Shenkuu and Meridell. These 3 teams are always inconsistent. However they can do harm to opponents as they have all beat Roo island during round robins when RI took their cup. I would say if RI wants to get to top tier this season, it would be harder than last year because average teams are rising and Kredulor are the underdogs with great depth in their squad. If RI can keep up with LD SH and MD , then yes they do have a shot for top tier. If not, they do not."

Me: "I remember lots of bashing...It gets heated in these kinds of situations, sadly, and teams start to put down opposing teams. What about in AC V, do you think we will have improved from our presumed lower-rank? What about the 'Winners Curse'? Do you think it can be explained by merely freeloaders that join the team that won the previous cup?"

Joyce: "Bashing if you look at the positive side, its a 'must not have' in AC. It brings out the joy of most fans, however, RI have the least bashers compare to top tier teams. Even if so, some players from other teams that are not on RI, act as if they are playing for RI and smear our team's image. However some or rather most was caught red handed and unable to tarnish our team's image. On this side, you will not see the other side, like a RI'er tarnishing another team's name. ACV..hmm, All-stars can be all-stars, after getting all-stars every extra game they play is a bonus, however those freeloaders or people below rank 15, ( consider average if you are above ) should play more to contribute if they want to see their team constantly improving. If not done so, no one can really move the team if the weakers one are not playing.
Winner curse is a hot topic everywhere. Yes the final results does have a pattern but this is actually a reversed reversing psychology. Winner curse if it exist, it has got nothing to do with free loaders joining the winning team. I guess the main problem for the winning team is that, top elite players will not prefer to stay as they always want to move on to other clubs to lift the trophy at different places. This will outshine those who are heavily involved in the competition. By doing that, players leaving, those with outstanding number of wins and goals scored, slushing and making noise. We are left with those we are not 'strong' and with new players joining, the team bonding isn't strong enough. Since tnt said that freeloaders does not hurt the team and number of players does not matter over whichever team with more players have advantage over lesser team players. If this stands, means that the team's scores will be calculated by average...the total goals over the number of players. Lets say, top players left RI, new one replace. If the new players are not up to the standard as the top ones, the team will bound to fall, unless the lesser ones from last year, stood up and play well. Average as a team is important. No winner curse at all. This is my stand. :P"

Me: "Your theory makes sense, I admit. Do you think they deserved their AC III win?"

Joyce: "It should make sense if what tnt said was true that freeloaders doesn't hurt and team players are not a factor of advantage and disadvantage.
We're more organized. We were all committed. We have team work. We have support groups cheering one another to motivate others to do well. MOBBING. Challengers. We have difficulties but didn't managed to tied us down. We overcame it, we DESERVE IT. Much more our lilo striker had awards every single year...and we have a outstanding heavily recommended defender. A top striker and a top defender makes the team a better team."

Me: "*Nods* What do you think of King Roo? ;)"

Joyce: "Okay. Its the influenza of the team deja vu of winner getting 7th place. Nonsense. well not that its coincidence either. Lets see my analysis.
Teams that will be above RI this year honestly. In no particular order
KI / SH / LD / KD / MD / DC / MI. Or rather you can say they are in order too. Thats Joyce's prediction."

Me: "Okay, that'll wrap it up! Thanks for letting me interview you. :)"

Con:

Me: "Okay, Con. I'm Fire Princess, could I ask you a few questions about Roo Island?"

Con: " Hello Fire Princess, I would be more than glad to answer your questions about Roo Island."

Me: "Good. *Nods* Now, what do you think about Roo Island, as a team? Do you think they're dedicated to playing?"

Con: "I think Roo Island is a very friendly team dedicated to there cause. With them winning the Cup last year. I think they might get some players that are not dedicated to play and hurt Roo Island greatly. If I wasn't a pirate on the inside I would most likely join Roo Island they have great players and chat group!"

Me: "I do agree about the players who won't be dedicated to play, yes. Do you think they will make it to the top four in Altador Cup IV?"

Con: "Fire Princess, I think that it will be tough for Roo Island to get into the top 4, with the free loaders that will bring down the average, but I know there are some determined Roo Islanders that are willing to turn up the notch to perform in the top 4. I think Roo Island will rank about 5th or 6th this Altador Cup."

Me: "Mm, that's the average rank for RI on most of the Cup predictions. What about in AC V? Do you think the team will be training harder?"

Con: "If Roo Island performs lower than 8th place, free loaders will move to the winning team, and Roo Island should be able to pull out a top 3 victory in AC V."

Me: "Do you think they deserved their AC III win?"

Con: "I think Roo Island and Krawk Island deserved the cup equally, if you went to both chat boards the totals were close and everyone was putting in all they could. Roo Island is a good dedicated team and won the cup."

Me: "What do you think of King Roo? ;)"

Con: "King Roo, I have no comment on him."

Me: "Ookay. Since you already answered the last question I had for you (What place Roo Island could get this year), do you have any comments on RI or anything you'd like to say? :)"

Con: "I wish Roo Island a good season, it will be a tough one. If every member gives a 110% they might pull off a top 4 spot. I think it is nearly impossible from them to win 2 cups in a row. I think Krawk Island will have a very good season and has a chance of winning there first cup."

Me: "Thanks! Good luck to KI, fight hard and stay on top!"

Fuu:

Me: "Okay, Fuu. I'm Fire Princess, could I ask you a few questions about Roo Island?"

Fuu: "certainly."

Me: "Excellent. What do you think about Roo Island, as a team? Do you think they're dedicated to playing?"

Fuu: "Oh yes, definitely."

Me: "Do you think they will make it to the top four in Altador Cup IV?"

Fuu: "I would certainly hope so."

Me: "What about in AC V?"

Fuu: "If there IS an AC V, I would feel more comfortable answering that question after AC IV has concluded."

Me: "Okay, fair enough. Do you think they deserved their AC III win?"

Fuu: "Oh, yes. Most definitely. :D"

Me: "What do you think of King Roo? :o"

Fuu: "I have not talked to him much, but he is an interesting fellow. "

Me: "You should set up an appointment. He's very interesting, and you might get to play some Dice-A-Roo. Anyway, Last question. Due to the previous winners of the Altador Cup not getting above five (Placement-wise) during the year after their win, what place do you think RI will get? (Be honest!)"

Fuu: "To be honest I do not know. I do hope they do well but nothing is for certain. I do not believe that what other champions did the year after winning reflects much on what the Rooligans will necessarily do."

Me: "Anything else you'd like to say? (I know, I said that question was the last one. I lied.)"

Fuu: "I think I saw Count Von Roo practicing his nighttime slushie slinging..."

Water:

Me: "Okay, Water. I'm Fire Princess, could I ask you a few questions about Roo Island?"

Water: "Hello Fire Princess! Yes, I am ready to answer your questions"

Me: "Okay then, here we go! What do you think about Roo Island, as a team? Do you think they're dedicated to playing?"

Water: "First of all, I am an old player of Roo Island. I do believe that they players are dedicated to play their hearts off for this cup too. I am open to any surprises that may occur, as there are some really loyal and dedicated players! I believe they are a tough team, but I am migrating to another team for this year. Good luck to every team!"

Me: "Hmmm, okay. Do you think they will make it to the top four in Altador Cup IV?"

Water: "That depends on how much each player plays, but I believe with a little bit of hard work, they can re-do it! Of course the other teams are stronger too, this year. This will be a tough season of Altador Cup, but as I said; I am open to surprises. And that is the fun part of the Cup really!"

Me: "What about in AC V?"

Water: "Isn't it too early to discuss about the 5th Cup? I say we wait and see how this one goes."

Me: "I suppose so. Do you think they deserved their AC III win?"

Water: "Of course they did! We all worked hard, since I said I was playing with them and we really deserved it. After being held back the last two years, I doubt it's anything else other than determination that led us to the top. No rigged things or anything, it's pure help from every team mate! Once you are in a team, you must play for it. And that's what we did last year!"

Me: "I agree! Only two more questions. (This one's just for fun.) What do you think of King Roo?"

Water: "King Roo is a really awesome Blumaroo. With his fancy robe and scepter, he is the most suitable King for such an island! Give him my greetings next time you see him. Although I have never been able to beat his awesome dice, he is still a great ruler of the island!"

Me: "I'll be sure to. ;) Last question. Due to the previous winners of the Altador Cup not getting above five (Placement-wise) during the year after their win, what place do you think RI will get? (Be honest!)"

Water: "I have no idea! As I already said surprises are bound to happen. But to be clear, I don't believe that AC is rigged, so Roo Island has surely equal chances of winning."

Me: "Hmm, okay! Anything else you'd like to say?"

Water: "Just a tip to everyone out there, to play their hearts off! Give it all for their teams! And never lose the team-friendly spirit, that's the most important part. Good luck to everyone, see you in the finals ;)"

Me: "Thanks for letting me interview you, Mr. Water! :D See you in June..."

Water: "You are welcome Fire Princess, gla to have helped :) See you during ACIV!"

Yaz:

Me: "Okay, Yaz. I'm Fire Princess, could I ask you a few questions about Roo Island?"

Yaz: "Why, sure! :o"

Me: "What do you think about Roo Island, as a team? Do you think they're dedicated to playing?"

Yaz: "I think that Roo Island has a super strong core of pwnful players. When I was on RI, I kind of wondered if they slept. x)"

Me: "Why thank you. :D Do you think they will make it to the top four in Altador Cup IV?"

Yaz: "That's a very tough question. Following a winning year, I think it would be difficult for RI to make it, but I also believe that if anyone would be the first team to do it, it would be RI. You could say I am undecided. ;P"

Me: "What about in AC V?"

Yaz: "Aaah, now by AC V, I think the victory euphoria will have worn off and that RI will be right back in the fold as a major contender. The top four could be likely."

Me: "Hmm, interesting. Do you think they deserved their AC III win?"

Yaz: "Very much so. There are some people on that team that have deserved the cup several times over. The same might be said for many teams, but I think it was just the year for the Roos; it was seen straight from the beginning."

Me: "This is just for fun...What do you think of King Roo? :o"

Yaz: "I think that King Roo is a spiffy gent who has fun in mind. That's what should always be in mind, if you ask me."

Me: "Bwahahaha, I'm sure his majesty appreciates your comment. :D Last question. Due to the previous winners of the Altador Cup not getting above five (Placement-wise) during the year after their win, what place do you think RI will get? (Be honest!)"

Yaz: "Hmm.. I would have to say that being Roos, I'm thinking they will get fifth. Top four would be a great achievement, but I'm thinking top of the second bracket is a good guess."

Me: "That's what a lot of people predict they'll get...Anything else you'd like to say?"

Yaz: "Positive thinking is a great weapon, and don't let others thinking you will do worse make you think you will do worse. Kreludor's life story. x)"

Me: "Words of wisdom. :o That pretty much wraps it up, thanks!"

Thanks everyone for letting me interview them! :)
