Welcome, guest, devoted Krawk Island crew member! ^^size=5>

If I am bad at one or two of the games, should I still play them?
What if I am bad at all three games?
Why should we believe what you say?

Contrary to common sense: no.

To understand why, you must first understand the economic concept of Absolute Advantagecolor=green>.

Imagine with me three fictional Krawk Islanders:
Mr. MSN is good at MSN, but is bad at YYB and SS.
Ms. SS is good at SS, but is bad at MSN and YYB.
Sassy is good at YYB, but is bad at SS and MSN.

Their average scores are as follows:

Because Sassy has the best scores in YYB, she has what is known as an Absolute Advantagecolor=green> in YYB. Mr. MSN has an absolute advantage in MSN, and Ms. SS has an absolute advantage in SS.

Suppose, hypothetically, each KI member can only play three games in one day. If all members choose to play one game each of MSN, SS and YYB, their totals will be:

However, if all members choose to play three games of the game at which they are good, their totals will be:

WE CAN MAXIMIZE OUR SCORES IF ALL MEMBERS STICK TO THEIR STRENGTHS!!

What if I am bad at all three games?face="impact">size=5>color=red>

To understand what to do in this situation, you must first understand the economic concept of Comparative Advantagecolor green>.

Imagine with me two fictional Krawk Islanders:
Sassy is good at YYB, but is pretty bad at SS.
KI Fan is bad at YYB and SS.

Their average scores are as follows:

Because Sassy has the best scores in YYB and SS, she has an Absolute Advantage in both YYB and SS. Does this mean that Sassy should play both YYB and SS and that KI Fan should not play at all? No! :) Suppose, hypothetically, one YYB game is the same length as one SS game.

Because Sassy can choose to either earn 10 YYB points or 300 SS points, 1 YYB point costs her 30 SS points (300 SS points / 10 YYB points = 30). Conversely, 1 SS point costs 0.03 YYB points (10 YYB points / 300 SS points = 0.03).

Because KI Fan can choose to either earn 5 YYB points or 250 SS points, 1 YYB point costs him/her 50 SS points (250 SS points/ 5 YYB points = 50). Conversely, 1 SS point costs 0.02 YYB points (5 YYB points / 250 SS points = 0.02).

Sassy can produce 1 YYB point more cheaply than can KI Fan! KI fan can produce 1 SS point more cheaply than can Sassy! Sassy has a Comparative Advantagecolor=green> in YYB, and KI Fan has a comparative advantage in SS!

IF YOU ARE NOT VERY GOOD AT ANY OF THE GAMES, PLAY THE GAME THAT MOST OTHERS HAVE TROUBLE PLAYING (most likely – slushie slinger). IF YOU ARE NOT GOOD AT ANY GAMES, THAN YOU CAN PRODUCE SS POINTS MORE CHEAPLY THAN KI MEMBERS THAT ARE GOOD AT ONE OR MORE GAMES!! =D

Why should we believe what you say?face="impact">size=5>color=red>

How smart of you to ask! ;D

The principles of Absolutecolor=green> and Comparative Advantagecolor=green> are chiefly used in the discipline of economics to describe how countries benefit from international trade. The concepts are quite familiar to me; I am an economics major! At this point, I have taken five economics classes - including Principles of Macroeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomics, and International Economic Development. I have excelled in these classes and taken their lessons to heart (well enough to apply them to neopets!). I am also a high-ranking KILLer that cares deeply about team Krawk Island and crew!
