This story was inspired by conflicts I have had in my own personally life. Thankfully, everything turned out alright. But I did begin this story, when everything wasn't. I felt I needed to keep it the way I first intended the story to be. This is a story of Ver and the death of a loved one.
This is from my memory, a memory story. I remember when I first met Verdepeke. I remember the day clearly.

It was a bright and sunny day, August sixteenth a few years ago. It seems so long now. She wasn't the most confident Lenny in Neopia. Instead of running off, she preferred to hide herself. She still doesn't seem to have confidence, but hopefully, someday she'll learn. She'll grow, her wings will expand and she'll blossom into the most beautiful Faerie Lenny ever. She'll shine. But for now, she needs to learn to shine.

She was a tad cranky; she didn't want to be among the other Neopets. I remember watching Verdepeke fluff her feathers and settle down on a small bench.

I was watching her from a distance; she didn't notice me that day. She probably never even knew I was there. That day, Verdepeke met the person, him, that changed her life forever. She didn't know it, no one knew it then. The two were complete opposites in everything. Ver was extremely quiet while he, he couldn't keep his mouth closed. The two slowly became good friends, inseparable. Two neopets were never as close as they were. Friends, even me, we were all jealous. Extremely jealous at the great friendship those two shared.

I never became that close with Verdepeke.

It wasn't because I didn't want to. She was just another drop in the waterfall of life. She touched my life for a moment; I never thought I'd see her again.

While I was off in my own life, Verdepeke emerged her own life around him. Whatever she did, whenever she did anything, she always thought of him. Would he like this? What would he think? Her mind flooded with visions of him and only him.

She wasn't with her other friends as much. She lost contact with the world. But she enjoyed it, she loved her life. It was wonderful, amazing. The sun was with her always whenever he was near.

When they were apart, she felt the world crash around her. Things never seemed as interesting or as fun. The colours ran out of herself. She needed to be with him. It was as if she was addicted. Addicted to him, and only he could curb her addiction.

Then, only a month ago, I found Verdepeke again. She was collapsed on the ground, crying, crying. I didn't know what was going on. I didn't understand anything.

But it didn't take long until I did. He was gone, gone from Verdepeke's life forever.

He had always told Verdepeke that he'll always be with her forever. He wouldn't let anything happen to himself. He wouldn't ever leave her. But he did. He broke his promise with her.

His life, his views, any trace of him was gone. He had disappeared not only from Verdepeke's life, but everyone's life. He was gone.

That was when she met me. She looked at me, tears in her eyes. Life had seemed to leech out of her.

Tilting her head, "Who are you?"

I paused, "Who am I? I'm called Hanna.

I know you really don't know me but, when I saw you Ver, it kind of reminded me of my life. In a little way, my life with my him. Everything always seemed perfect, but I was afraid of things, things that were going on. I was confused; things confused me, everything confused me. I guess it influenced my story as well. I kind of threw myself in my art."

She looked at me, her eyes puzzled, "I don't understand."

I stopped. I looked at her and took her hand, "I feel like I understand. I understand your confusion."

After a moment, Verdepeke began to speak again, "I guess I need to talk to someone. About anything. I, I don't understand what you're talking about. But I want to talk to you."

Squeezing her hand, I looked up into the clouds. "I've been told that you've lost him. I've also been told to help take care of you and make sure you'll alright.

I'm thrilled with this opportunity to be with someone who's so much like me, to talk to someone who mirrors me.

So that's why I'm here. I'm here to be your friend.

I looked at Ver. "Can I hear a little more about you? Now, who Ver I've been told about?"

Verdepeke blushed, "Umm, I don't think I'm that interesting. I, uh, I enjoy to polka I guess. I don't think I can dance very well. But the polka's so odd that everyone looks like they don't really know what they're doing...

I also enjoy music, any music. It doesn't have to be polka music. But maybe it's because I'm a Lenny. I enjoy songs. I don't really sing songs though; I just like listening to them."

What do you enjoy doing with your friends?

Ver looked down, "Well, er, I don't really think I have that many close friends anymore. But I enjoy just being with them. We can do anything."

I poked a petpet I carried in my inventory. "Well don't worry. I'm your friend now aren't I? I'm sure you'll make a lot of friends. I even have a little guy who can become your friend this instant. His name is Verplat, kind of like Darblat. He's a Palmplat and he's for you. Be careful though, he may like to bite."

I thought about my entire family, all wonderful neopets... even Applepie. "You're going to find some amazing neopians in the future. They're all sweet and nice.

Litning446
There's Litning. She's real sweet. She's the oldest and is probably what you may call a 'big sister.' If you need any help, she'll be there. She's smart too since she has read a ton of books. She's like you in a way. She's a dreamer. Litning was the first ever pet I found in the pound (as a yellow gelert). Her name probably isn't what one sees as the best, but she's been with me ever since I first made my account. I truly adore her.

Applepiebunny
Then there's Applepie. She's the weird one, crazy, hyper, nothing can describe her. She adores haunted and creepy things. Her favorite neopian is Esophagor. You also need to watch out for her. She enjoys playing tricks. But, she's still a cute little, guitar playing, loving cy. Hmm, all you have to do is give her a clover and she's yours forever. I created Applepie on cybunny day a long, long time ago. Her name was inspired by a guy friend, Andy. Who always seem to stick Apple pies into our conversations. Contrary to the name, Applepie isn't the biggest fan of the little dessert.

Clemenia
Oh Clem. I'm sure you'll love Clem. He's amazing. He has the mind of a child. Clem loves almost everything: Ice Lollys, Bouncy Balls, Games. He's a little wacko though. Hmm, he's deathly afraid of Usuls, especially red ones. And well, he thinks he's a Zafara. He can't talk very well. But he's the cutest and overall fun Cybunny. No one can resist his laugh. I created Clem on cybunny day a long while ago as well.

Paefhier
Paef is another one of the more sensible guys. He's the guy to go to if you ever need to talk. He really seems to understand problems. But he is a little jumpy and nervous. It's probably because of constant teasing and attacks from other Neopians when he was younger since he's always been painted halloween. He's normally with Ericka. A long time ago, I was on the Neolodge Forum and someone made a board about pounding him. I was first to respond so I was able to adopt him.

ErickaDishoin
Ericka was a surprise. It was back when I was pound surfing for a pet with a wonderful name to Cybunny trans, I found Ericka. True, she's not really an amazingly special pet. Her name is average, her stats normal, and her paint cheap. But for some reason I really liked her. She's blind, albino, and lives in her own little world. She also wishes to make very good friends. A little quiet and odd, she has her own story to tell.

Appleuse
My little Appleuse is someone else who was in sadness. It's probably due to the fact that she's painted grey. But she found happiness. Her little petpet, Merry the Carmariller, is one of the happiest petpets in all of Neopia. And Merry's amazing at cheering people up. Appleuse enjoys spending her time alone, however, so you may not be able to see her much.

Applejax814
Applejax was the birdie pet that I wanted to use your design for. But I found out it didn't work. He design is still in process and her current picture was what I submitted for Grey Day a long time ago. Applejax is a little curious. She doesn't have an anthro or human form yet either. She's just a really pretty birdie.

Eirizin
Another oddball, Eirizin , is in my family. On January 1st of last year, I finally saved up for a Cybunny Trans and I went to search for the perfect pet to morph. It was Eirizin, he was the perfect pet. He was a little grundo at the time but his name fit a Mutant Cybunny. He's outspoken and ends up arguing with Applepie a lot. He adores Usukis and collects them. His favorite is the Faerie Queen Usuki. But besides being odd, he's sweet and helpful when needed.

Cern
Cern was adopted from a user who wanted to paint her boyrfriend's grarrl royal. I had a royal paintbrush lying around, so I adopted her boyrfiends grarrl, painted him and then we traded. Cern's both very smart and very not-so-smart. She tends to overreact but understands people.

Catourina
One of my twins, Catourina was very recently painted. That's one of the reasons why she doesn't have any art yet. She was created cybunny day last year and was painted royal exactly a year later. She's a twin of Cyways. But she's opposite of him in many ways. She's very regal and proper and clearheaded and alert. Many neopians who need advice may come to her.

Cyways
The other twin, Cyways was also very recently painted. He was, like Catourina, created on cybunny day of last year and painted exactly one year later. He is a twin of Catourina. Instead of clearheaded, Cyways gets confused and dizzy easily. He normally does not understand what's going on. But the two help balance each other and together, they're just right.

Chevreuse
Anther recently painted pet, Chevreuse , is modeled after Chevreuse from the Three Musketeers. She was painted on the First of May when I was able to transfer her (in her red usul form) to the same account as Aramise. Being one of the only Usuls, she enjoys scaring Clem. A little selfish, she'll still be a great friend to find.

Aramise
Finally, Aramise , is modeled after Aramis from the Three Musketeers. He enjoys hopping off to adventures, imagining himself fighting evil and saving the world. He's a little put off by Eirizin, however, do to Eirizin's wish to put him in a life size Usuki box. He's brave and willing to fight for any girl when she needs help.

You may have noticed that I have a few more spaces who I did not list as a character. This is because they are not in their final form or that I'm just enjoying zapping them. But regardless, all these fine Neopians can become great friends for both you, Ver, and anyone else."

I stood up, still holding onto Ver's hand. "Come on, I just don't want to talk about them to you. I want you to go and meet them."

Ver slowly stood, "Meet them? Your family? But, I really don't..."

I turned towards her, "And why not? You're part of our family now. Come on, they're all dying to meet you as well."

Tugging on her hand, we ran towards my home. Ver was going to have many new, wonderful friends and I couldn't wait to show her. I wanted to show her that life could go on. I wanted to show her fun again. That's when Ver became a part of my own Neopet life. She began a new journey, with us.

She'll never forget about him, though. And she shouldn't. But she needed to learn to let go.
