All About Aisling

Greetings! I'm Aisling and this is my narcissistic part of the Neopian world! I'm an adult player and married. Sadly, he doesn't play anymore. :( My page includes stuff about my neo-life as well as a few real life tidbits. I'm a chatty and draik obsessed avatar collector by day, and a pet loving, Batik-egg making, Harry Potter nut by night. For all the info, check out the links at the top of the page.

Many years ago, around 2001 to be precise, I created my first account on Neopets. Being rather young and naive, I named the account after my then boyfriend. Since then, I've self iced that account simply because I was no longer dating the guy and I wanted a fresh start. I had such a start on my previously previous main account. However, it was frozen by TNT for something I have no idea how to even begin to do. I know, everyone claims there freezing as being "accidentally", but anyway.... I then created Vampiricalmind. I briefly used it as my main, but I realized it wasn't a strong enough representation of "me". I then switched it to my side and created my still used main, Blackroseofwisdom.

The very first pet I ever created was Superman7489. Sadly, he is currently stuck in the pound_release mess. I'm hoping to one day bring him back to one of my accounts and turn him into a draik to honor him as the oldest pet I've ever owned.

Current Draik Family

Since I got back into Neopets with the creation of Blackroseofwisdom, I've been fascinated and absolutely obsessed with draiks. Thanks to my darling husband I created my first draik, Cylisaen.Since that very first draik, I've created Verasyn, Talyse, and Lahrri. Lahrri and Cylisaen was hand painted. Verasyn and Talyse were painted with FFQs. When my hubby decided to take a long-term hiatus, he sent me Doriwen to take care of as part of my family. In late 2010, I was bored and decided to splurge. At the time, on of the lab rats I'd found in the pound was named Caeiah. I absolutely adored the name, so I decided to keep her. I bought a Faerie Draik Morphing Potion as a way to 'splurge', and welcomed her to my home. My long term goal is to own a draik army and have four draiks on all five of my accounts. One day, Neopia, one day.

Future Draik Plans
I'm completely OBSESSED with draiks, and have decided that my main goal on Neopets is to create an army of them. 20 unique, individual draiks for my own manipulation and control. What could be better? why, the occasional matching meepit petpet, of course! Below are the future draiks I'd love to eventually own.

I think I've always been interested in collecting avatars. I've never been able to get into Battling or playing games over and over. I love the challenge of having to work towards something in order to achieve it. I also love how many there are. There is an avatar for every mood and event you could possibly be involved in. I absolutely LOVE collecting them! My absolute favorite avatar is the avatar collector one:

I need 24 OBTAINABLE avatars to finish off my list!

This list was generated by Jellyneo's Avatar Checklist Tool!

I love how Neopians have various ways to earn a living. Of course when a Neopian is just stating out, they often think that the only way yo earn NP is by playing games. Of course, that's not true. I haven't 'just played games' for a serious income in years. I earn NP in three main ways. I restock, bet in the Food Club (which can't happen until Krawk Island comes back :( ), and invest in the Stock Market.

Restocking is a skill that anyone with a fast connection can learn. If you don't know how to restock, I suggest checking out a guide here, here, or here. It takes practice and patience to successfully join the Cult of the F5. I tend to restock in four main shops. I prefer Collectable Coins, Collectable Sea Shells, Kayla's Potion Shop, and Spooky Food.

Playing the food club can be quite... risky. I often prefer following someone's bets rather than making my own. First things first, in order to place bets in the Food Club, you should understand how it works. There are several guides that are great at explaining how the FC works. If you're not up to making your own bets, you can follow a guide here, here, here, here, here, or here. Betting is currently on hold until the Krawk Island Plot/Event resurfaces the food club :(.

The most risk-free method of earning NP for me is the Stock Market. It requires a lot of patience. I can normally make 200k to almost 1 mil in a month, depending on how my stocks run. You can find a good guide here, here, or here .

If you ever want to try to find me around Neopia, chances are I'll be chatting in my guild or on the neoboards. Being such an avid avatar collector, I often lurk on the Avatar Chat. Sometimes I might even be caught silently lending an item or two. You just never know ;).

I might also be on the Help Chat answering as many questions as I can. Occasionally I also search for faerie quests items that people are looking for.

Once every month or two, I can also be found on the Pound Chat. I zap pets I find in the pound and then once I get several zapped into nice colors, I adopt them all out. If you'd like more information regarding my zapping/pounding status, please check out my UFA Pet Page.

I'm also fairly obsessed with Neocash. Every not and then you can find me lurking on the NC board.

Hello :) I'm Aisling. I'm 25 and married to my high school sweetheart! My husband and I actually met in kindergarten. We then started dating our senior year. After two years of dating, he proposed December 24, 2006. We then got married September 3, 2009. We waited until I got out of college to get married. Technically we eloped. After planning a wedding for almost two years, we ran into some problems, panicked, and eloped on the 3rd. All of our families think we were married on September 19, 2009 instead. So, shhh :p.

I graduated from high school in 2005, with an emphasis in science. I attended MBC and graduated in 2009 with a BA in Asian Studies. My freshman year I changed from Chemistry to Asian studies... go figure, lol.

I'm currently a happy homemaker. I stay at home while my husband works. While he's at his job, I do laundry, clean the house, raise our two pups, cook, bake, and almost anything else that needs to be done. I, like all of you, have different interests. So, with a happy heart, I Welcome you to MY World
Entertainment

Some of my favorite movies include Calendar Girls, Pirates of the Caribbean (all), Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, The Little Mermaid, Zombieland, RENT, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, My Fair Lady, Shrek, Harry Potter (1-5... 6 and 7 can go burn) Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Grease, and Chocolat. TV wise, I love Ghost Hunters, Paranormal State, Destination Truth, American Dad, Futurama, and Family Guy. I love a wide array of musical artists as well; anything from country to techno.

I absolutely love reading. I always have. I grew up reading Highlights magazine and Nancy Drew mysteries. Now I love anything by Stephen King or related to Harry Potter. From Stephen King, I'm quite fond of his Dark Tower series, as well as, Firestarter, The Eyes of the Dragon, Gerald's Game, Rose Madder, Desperation, The Talisman and Black House. I also love The Long Walk which was written under Stephen King's pen name, Richard Bachman. I'm absolutely obsessed with Harry Potter. I'm a completely 100% Slytherin and proud. Hands down, Severus Snape is the best character since someone gave human personification to sliced bread.

I was a relatively quiet and shy child growing up... somewhere along the line, my father made the mistake of telling me that I wasn't allowed to pierce anything buy my ears, and as long as it was in my ears, he didn't care. Somehow I ended up with seven piercings on each ear. Three cartilage on both ears, and then four going up the lobe. I'm planning on getting either my tragus or forward helix done eventually :D

I also have a tattoo. It's Harry Potter themed.I actually took a few different concepts and had my friend weave them into one piece. There's a wand, two faeries, a golden snitch, and a reference to Snape. Somewhere in the last book, it's revealed that Severus's patronus is a doe... blah blah blah, basically, Dumbles asks Severus if he's really loved Lily basically all his life..... and Severus replies, "Always".

My lil sis created this:

The final product:

Please ignore the redness.. The picture is right after it was finished.

My hubby also has a Harry Potter themed tattoo :D

Pets

I think I have the most spoiled pets, ever. I have two cats and two dogs. Link was Dave's cat before we started dating, and in 2005, we found Autumn. In March 2009, Dave and I decided to get Ace and Diamond.

Link is a long haired black cat. He's about seven years old. He'd rather sit on your lap and be petted all day long than anything else. He's set in his ways and hates change. He loves going outside on a leash to lounge on the back porch whenever he can. He's originally Dave's cat, but I adopted him.

Autumn was found on Dave's aunt's farm. He was a lost little kitten with a cold sitting outside in a puddle during a rain storm. I saved him and Dave and I have raised him since then. He's currently four years old, and the spawn of Sloth. He's an evil, spoiled cat. He has to get his way, and if he doesn't he'll attack you. He hates getting kissed, and will yowl like you're trying to kill him if you try to do so. However, he has his moments and can be as cute as can be.

Our dogs think they're human. They're very spoiled, love attention, and tend to give kisses to everyone they meet. They are two of the best pits in the world. They're pit/shar pei mixed, two years old, and easily 60-70lbs.

Ace is an absolute doll baby. He's sweet and very gentle. He's very laid back and doesn't have a "mean" bone in his body. When he was a pup he used to sleep around my head on my pillow. Now he normally sleeps on Dave's feet or between us. He likes to be covered up when he's cold, and normally has to have a pillow.

Diamond is a little smaller than Ace, but her attitude is five times bigger. She think she's the dominant of the two, and often picks on Ace. She is also stubborn and hard headed. She does have a heart of gold though, and can be just as sweet when she wants to be. She likes to sit on a kitchen chair and when we have company over, she has to be part of the conversation.

Check out my newest eggs!

In early 2010, I decided to pick up a batik style of art design (based on Pysanky) as a hobby. Pysanky is Ukrainian egg art. It's the process of using a wax- resist method to apply designs onto an egg. Traditionally, the eggs are created and given away at Easter. I like a more modern flare to my eggs. I've even made them into Christmas ornaments! I got into Batik egg art after seeing the art of Pysanky shown on an episode of Unwrapped on the Food Network. It was the Easter special that they play every year, I think. So, I talked to my hubby, and decided to give it ago! You can find starter kits fairly cheap. I have an L-shaped desk, and half of is it dedicated to my egg work area.

I've been practicing for over a year now, and there's been a huge difference in my work. At first my lines were sloppy, my colors were bleeding, and it looked like a child's artwork. Now my lines are getting straighter, my colors are getting a little better, and I'm not so embarrassed about it. Believe me, I have no artistic abilities, but I somehow manage to make some pretty awesome eggs!

Materials

I start by emptying out an egg.

I use a pencil and an egg lathe to draw on lines. The lathe is new :D Before I had it, I was using cardboard circle cut outs and rubber bands to measure out my lines.. The lathe is sooo awesome!

Once I get the egg divided up with the pencil, it's time to start applying the wax. On a clean, emptied, white egg, anything that gets waxed over will stay white. I use a candle to melt the spaghetti bee's wax in a kiska. This is my three kiskas, heavy, medium, and fine, and my bag of bee's wax.

Once the white parts are covered in wax, I dye it a second color. The colors have to be built up, from lightest to darkest. Once the white is done, I typically use yellow, gold, pumpkin, or orange, depending on what I want. The dye order typically goes: White, Yellow, Gold, Light Green, Light Blue, Turquoise, Orange, Brown (if you want it lighter), Brick (if you want it lighter), Pink, Bright Red (Scarlet), Red, Brown (if you want it darker), Brick (if you want it darker), Dark Red, and the final color would be Black, Purple, Royal Blue, or Dark Green.

Once I've waxed and dyed all the colors I want, I use my candle to gently heat up part of the egg, and wipe the wax off. The dye stays. All of the wax is removed, and I let the egg rest overnight before I triple dip it into polyurethane to act as a protective varnish. It slightly strengthens the eggshell and makes it super shiny.
