Shyann and I am the creator of
Chrysalis, a site opened on
July 24th, 2012. Here at Chrysalis you will find premade fonts, font requests, and tools to help create your very own fonts!
When a caterpillar is fully grown it forms a chrysalis around itself. Within the chrysalis, growth and differentiation occur, and then a butterfly emerges. The process of making a font is similar. The caterpillar represents the
idea or inspiration for a font, the chrysalis represents the
process of actually creating the font, and the butterfly is the
final product.
Updates
May 23
- Requests are now closed. If you have already submitted one, no worries, I am still working on it! Just not accepting any more. :)
May 19
- Two days after promised, but better late than never! Requests are now open. Send them in while you can, since I'll be closing them again if life starts getting too busy for me.
May 12
- Five new text fonts.
- One new picture font.
- One new font template for NC traders!
- I will be opening requests on Thursday or Friday this week. I would open them now but this week is going to be quite busy for me, so I think it's best to just wait. Please do not send them in until you see the open sign up!
- Also, I thought I should post a little heads up: I will be going through and cleaning up some older fonts that I don't feel are as nice. I may revamp them or they may just be gone for good. This will probably happen the same day that I open requests.

Rules
Do not claim my fonts as your own.
Do not redistribute my fonts.
I'd prefer that you did not get my fonts rated, but if you do, please state that you are not the creator.
You may edit my fonts to your heart's desire, but please remember, editing a font does not make it yours, no matter how different it looks.
Please Note: Fonts with a
beside them require a neoboard pen. If you do not have a neoboard pen they will not work for you, sorry. Some fonts, however, do have a non-neoboard pen version in addition to the original. They tend to be slightly simpler to conserve room, although they are of almost identical style.
Also Note: I use Alt-255 spaces in most of my picture fonts, which do not copy and paste. If you try to use a font and find that there are a lot of asterisks (
*), you will need to replace them with the spaces yourself. To do so, simply hold alt on your keyboard and type '255' on your number pad, then release alt.

Text Fonts
You will find that most fonts in this section contain lyrics from songs. Others are inspired by movies, TV shows, cartoons that I enjoy, and sometimes the avatar that they match.
If you dislike the text please feel free to change it to represent something you love or something that inspires you.
Picture Fonts
Here you will find both
block fonts (picture fonts made out of block symbols) and
symbol fonts (picture fonts made up of various symbols).
Feel free to edit these fonts, though block fonts can prove difficult to edit and I would not advise changing them too much.
Requests
Having a problem finding exactly what you want? Well then, how about requesting your very own personalized font?
All the normal rules still apply. That means no claiming, redistributing, etc. Please keep this in mind.
Please, before sending in a request check that requests are open and that my waiting list is not full. If my requests are closed or my waiting list is full I will disregard any neomail regarding requests, sorry.

As long as requests are open and the waiting list is not full, you can request a font by sending in the following form to
annsunshinex3 with a neomailed titled:
Chrysalis: Request.
Be sure to fill in the form
completely and include as many details as possible. This will ensure that the final product is precisely what you are looking for!
To ensure that requesters are 100% satisfied with their final font I typically make at least two different options to choose from. If you are still unsatisfied with the font(s) made, please do not be shy about giving
constructive feedback and I will redo your request.
Please note that I will not redo requests for anyone who cannot show politeness and kindness. Rudeness will not be tolerated.
Pick-up
Please, only take a font if it was made for you. These fonts are not a part of the premades and were made specifically for the people who requested them.
Also keep in mind that I do not keep the coding for these fonts, and you will have to find a way in which to store the codes yourself (notepad is helpful).

Not matching an avatar:
There are times when you just want to be creative with your own colors, instead of matching an avatar. At those times there is one particular avatar that is adorable and doesn't clash with any colors! No, I am not talking about the hideous default avatar. I am talking about the default Kau avatar!
It's perfect for those times when you either can't or don't want to match an avatar! Get creative with your own colors.
Making your neohtml 'easy to read':
I understand that some people like to use fancier fonts and bright colors for their neoHTML, and by all means, your font should express you and should make you happy! However, when your neoHTML is difficult to read, a lot of people may simply skip over your posts and ignore you which isn't very much fun.
I suggest using more simplistic/basic font faces and darker, easy to see colors for your neoHTML. Font faces such as tahoma and verdana are easy to read and are my number one go-to font faces when it comes to neoHTML. Georgia and meiryo are also easy to read and work well as neoHTML. As for colors, I would suggest using black or gray. I would not advise going any lighter than #888888 when using gray, however. Dark colors such as navy blues, dark greens or dark purples are also perfectly acceptable to use if you're looking to match with your avatar.
Getting rid of your 'siggy line':
You know that dashed line that automatically appears below your neoHTML? Well, it's really easy to get rid of, and it certainly looks a lot better without it! In preferences, simply add an open square bracket [ to the end of your neoHTML box, and a closing square bracket ] to the beginning of your Neosignature box. Save your font and, voila! You won't see that annoying siggy line anymore.
Off-centering fonts:
Using white text takes up so much room. Pasteable spaces are easy to use and conserve a lot more space. Just copy and paste theme wherever you want them!

Saving room:
There are many ways in which you can save room when making a font. They're usually just small, little things, but they really can help out a lot!
1) If you are using black in your font, instead of using the full c=#000000 color code, just use c=0.
2) You do not need a full code for your neoHTML. By using [sup]NeoHTML[/sup] or [sub]NeoHTML[/sub] instead of [fontf=verdanac=#777777s=1]neoHTML[/font] you save a lot of room, though you cannot change the font color or face.
3) If your font is size 2, do not include the size code (s=2). The default font size is already 2.
4) Some colors have their own names that are shorter than the hex code. You can explore this idea more by viewing this page.
Really low font ratings:
I know that this isn't really a tip or trick for creating your own font, but I wanted to include it anyways.
When it comes to font making, you should make a font that makes YOU happy. You are the one who has to see it every time you post after all. So, if you love your font, that is all that matters.
Getting your font rated is fun, but always keep in mind that when you ask for a person's opinion it may not match up exactly with yours. You may think your font deserves a 90% or higher rating and they may think that it's only worth a 53% rating. That's fine. Whether or not you agree with their rating, you should thank them and move on. Arguing with the rater or making a snide comment in return will not change their opinion or make you feel any better. It's really just best to say thank you and leave the board.
