Going away for a week. Will reply to all mails when i return form my jaunt.

Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Daggre's font page. Hopefully by the time you've read through you'll be a font expert!

Please note this is NOT a premade/customs font page. This page is designed so you can learn how to make your own fonts for the neoboards. As the old Chinese proverb goes

Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime

Anyway. I hope this guide helps, if you have any concerns or want to feedback on my page you can do so via the 'contact me' link on the left =)!

getting started

Please note although I have mainly used colours such as 'red' you can use hex codes, an excellent chart is here Enjoy!

Getting started. This section will explain the basics of creating a neoboards font.

If you go to boards-preferences or alternatively click here . then you will find something like the below.

Ignore the rest of the page for now. We are focusing on the box saying enter your neoHTML here This is where you can make your font more exciting!

First of all here is a list of the very basic tags you can use

neoHTML- Makes your font bold
neoHTML- Makes your font italic
neoHTML- Makes your font underline

There I made my font bold AND italic, using both tags. Note how neoHTML goes in between the tags. If it doesn't the font won't work.

Colour, size and style

Please note although I have mainly used colours such as 'red' you can use hex codes, an excellent chart is here Enjoy!

Here we'll focus on changing the colour, size and style of our neoboards font.

Here is a list of the more interesting tags

[fontc=COLOUR]neoHTML- This changes your font colour, you can replace COLOUR with any colour you like.
[fonts=SIZE]neoHTML- This changes your font size. You can chose any size from 1 (small) to 4 (large).
[fontf=FONT NAME HERE]neoHTML- This changes your font face.
Here is a list of fonts which work on all browsers-the ones in bold I advise against using:
papyrus
chiller
impact
cursive
garamond
verdana
modern
fantasy
roman
terminal
georgia

You can also combine the face, colour and size into one tag:

^^ There I made a size 2, red cursive font.

Please note, you cannot make your font white, this is against the rules and the #ffffff code doesn't work anyway. However you can put it too use in the siggys section.

Positioning

This section is very brief.

There is only one position tag which you can use on your neoHTML and that is center (note you must use that spelling). This is a very simple tag to apply. Here it is

neoHTML

That's all. Congratulations, you've learnt how to make your own font.

Checkpoint

Now you've grasped font making, why not see what you can come up with? Here's a base which you can mess around with:

Take out bits you don't want, and keep the bits you do. Next stop, siggys!

Siggys

- First off, lets just check you know what a siggy (short for signature) is. A siggy is the bit surrounding your neoHTML, common things too see in a siggy are:

-Links to BC entries, petpages, shops, guilds etc
-Names, for instance my siggy simply says Daggre, because that's what like to be called
-Funny quotes
-Avatar related, if you used the spardel avvie, then you may expect somebody's siggy to say spardel.

Have a better understanding? Before making a siggy you should consider the message you wish to get across, so you want to advertise your shop, tell people your name, or use a quote, phase or sentence to help people gain a better understanding of your personality?

When making a siggy/font avoid, very bright colours which are hard to read, please don't include religious references or anything that is against the neopets rules

My siggy (and font for that matter) is very basic.

As you can see all my siggy is, is a little star and my name. Don't worry about how I positioned/created it yet, we'll come to that now.

Okay so here are your basic siggy codes:

[sup]neoHTML[/sup]- Makes your font superscript
[sub]neoHTML[/sub]- Makes your font subscript
[br]- New line
[p]- New paragraph (equivalent of pressing enter twice on keyboard)

Okay, so NOW we get to use the second box

You see anything you type in that box appears underneath your neoHTML. You can apply styles to your siggy too there are two ways of doing this, you can either type in your style (font, colour, bold etc) into the siggy box as you do for your neo HTML and type your signiture inbetween the tags like so:

OR you can put the opening tags of your signature style code into the neoHTML space if you have a very long siggy and don't have room, here's an example:

Note how I moved the center tag? I moved it too the siggy box which centered both the neoHTML and the siggy.

You've probably noticed the dashed link which appears under your neo HTML and beofore your signature, hang on I hear you say, how come all the cool Hcers don't have one of those? I quite agree, the line is ugly and unnecessary, thankfully the solution to get rid of it is very simple. All you need to do is put a [ at the end of all your neoHTML box coding and a ] right at the front of your siggy box. Here's a quick example. Please note these must go in the correct place else your coding will go funny. And nobody wants to look uncool on the HC (the coolest board around) do they?

Another thing to note is that you can insert a siggy before your neoHTML too. This can make your font a lot more interesting! This too can be styled.

See ^^ something exciting, I don't suggest you use that for your siggy as most people will assume you are a n00b, but you can apply the styles to other text. Here's a base to work from

neoHTML

Siggy

There's just one last thing I wish to teach you, and that's an invisible font, this can be used for two things.

- Making a 'highlight here for a surprise' siggy
- Moving a signature to the right of the post.

This is very simple, instead of using the [fontc=#ffffff] or [fontc=white] You use

[fontc=#fffffe]

Here are two examples of how it can be used. On the second I highlighted my text so you could see how I pushed my name over.

Please only use this for signatures. Nobody wants to highlight all your posts and people will just ignore you!

WOW, that was a lot of information, however you are now a font EXPERT. please don't hesitate to use the contact me link on the left of the page, so you can ask questions/ give me feedback. Thanks for reading.
