Want to take on a job?

If you would like to help out and do a job too while gaining respect in the guild, as well as a much easier chance to get onto council, neomail Claire. (: The jobs can be seen, described, and listed here.

The List

-Head Masters {Filled.}
{Claire} {Shu}
1-2 people.
Must be on daily. Be friendly, personable, and likable. Welcome new members and roleplay often. Pretty much overseeing and doing little bits of all of the jobs.

-Updating
{Liz} {Meli}
3-5 people.
You get to update the front page and once every 1-2 weeks you'll send me a brief summary of the roleplay and guild updates to be put onto the webbie. You'll be the first one asked if a new article for the newspaper is needed.

-Graphics
{Catsitta} {Katie} {Meli} {Skyy}
3-8 people.
Making StreamClan layouts, logos, banners, icons, lookups, whatnot.

-Member Welcoming Committee
{Liz} {Jenna}
1-3 people.
You must enable your guild updates to know when a new member has joined. Then you will neomail them with a friendly message introducing yourself and inviting them to join an activity or roleplay. You must also tell them what to do before they begin: read the warrior code, plot, land page, and updates. Then make his character page and send it to frankie_says, then come to the board for fun. You must be organized with the other people doing this. You have to be on daily or often enough to send each new member a new, friendly message.

-Communications
{Liz} {Katie} {Ty}
1-3 people.
Be very friendly and personable. Go on the guild boards and find friends, allies, enemies, and people who might be of good help to the guild. Like advertising but not always for new members.

-Activity Committee
{Shu} {Liz} {Jenna} {Katie} {Ty} {Catsitta}
3-5 people.
Create and update activities (it would be wise if one of the group made an activities page and then conversed with the rest on all of the updates) while deciding the winners.

-Advertising
{Shu} {Ty} {Catsitta} {Meli} {Lunar}
Everyone will but we need 3-8 active daily advertisers. Advertise! Instructions will come eventually.

Advertising Instructions

Instructions for Advertising::
The Basics:
Advertising isn't how it used to be. You can't just slap a copy and paste thing on the board, leave, and hope that they join. If that happens then you're a horrible advertiser and if they join they're an illiterate annoyance.
First of all, you have to remember these things: Have a decent advertisement ready at hand. It must say StreamClan and have the link to the portal/webbie and say that we are a private literate warriors roleplay guild. Applications are required. Say your name and seem very friendly, too
-You must also remember to read the first posts of the guildless before you do anything. If they don't say they want a warriors guild don't post and leave. If they like roleplaying but they don't list warriors, ask them politely if they would be interested in a warriors roleplay guild. If they're jerks and they want you to leave then leave; don't give StreamClan a bad name. If they say, "post moo if you read this," post moo at the bottom of the advertisement. Don't bother them. Never keep asking them if they saw or like StreamClan. Once, if they haven't replied to you after you've posted, you may say, "So what do you think of SC? ^^". A lot of times they will want you to write a summary on your own about the guild. It doesn't take long and just tell them good stuff that makes us look like the best guild out there. It's good to mention that we're 4 years old and that we have open council.
-Save a document on your computer with all of the advertisements you would need to use.
-Go onto the guild boards and right click every guildless board on the first into a tab. Maybe second page too if it's a slow day but otherwise no further.

The Advertisement:
If you actually know a thing or two about SC then you probably know where the advertisements are. If you don't, go find them. They are examples of what most decent advertisements look like. This is what an advertisement usually looks like:
|StreamClan*holly*;;
{ http://www.neopets.com/~ruscello_sc }
{ http://www.neopets.com/~StreamClan_ }
| literate x 13 members x open council x private /
Maybe all one can do is hope to end up with the right regrets.
They're easy to make and remember to use unique symbols to make yours stand out.
However, there will be times when you will have to write a summary instead. This is a good example of one:
Hey, I'm Claire! The leader of good ol' SC. :3 We're one clan, traditional warriors with a unique roleplay and 12 erudite members. We're pretty active, but not too active that you'd get lost. We have activities and exciting drama in the roleplays, plus our own plot. We have 2 open council, 4 open sub council, fun members, and we're 4 years old! Any questions? ;3
However, you cannot copy this one. Make your own and don't be lazy about it.
/REMEMBER/ to look back at the guildless's first post. They will most likely be expecting a secret word in the ad to know that you read what they are looking for in a guild. If you forget or post this warriors guild on a person's board who doesn't want a warriors guild, then you just lost a member.

Process of Elimination:
So now you have your advertisement and your guildless boards in your tabs bar. What now? Get your desired advertisement in your ctrl-c {copy} and click on the first tab of your boards. Scan the first vital posts of the guildless {but look out for those important details!} and then post your advertisement on their board after adding in whatever they desired {your name, "moo", etc}.
Click on your next tab and do the same thing.
HOWEVER, if you come across a board when the guildless seems illiterate and a complete noob, DO NOT POST. That only spells trouble. Just delete the tab and go on your way.
Once you're done posting on all of the good boards, go back to the first one, refresh, and see if they have replied to SC yet or have even made their decision.

Someone is Interested:
If you're lucky enough for someone to catch the bait then it's time to put on your happy face. But don't get too eager. Be even more friendly and nice but don't be like bouncing off the walls, it could actually scare them away. Make them feel welcome. Answer all their questions. If you've been with SC for this long you should be able to answer them clearly without fail. Do not be like, "Oh, I'm not sure. That's up to Claire, our leader." That will drive your guildless away if the average member does not even know about their own guild. If you honestly don't know about StreamClan, go do your research now.
On your advertising word document that you have to save your advertisements, you should also have "If they're interested" responses. If the guildless says, "I like Stream Clan (:
you respond to them with something along the lines of,
Thanks a lot for considering! =D We're really active, but after several days of massive roleplay, we have a couple days of just slow chat. xDD I don't know why, it's just the way we are. We also don't have 12 members, people join on more than one account. (=
Do you have any questions, concerns, critique, comments? |3
You CANNOT copy, paste, and use this response. Don't be lazy and make your own.
Now that you have done your ad, the guildless likes SC, and you've done your response, all you can do now is wait. It also helps to strike up a friendly small-talk conversation with the guildless and some other advertisers on the board.

Other Advertisers on the Board:
Do not start fights with anyone. There are some mean people out their and only if they called you out may you NEOMAIL them with a response. NEVER EVER fight on the guildless board. You would make a mockery out of StreamClan and you would lose the guildless!!
Instead, be friendly with everyone. Form friendships and be kind. Never act like StreamClan is superior to other guilds. Never say something controversial. You're the representative of StreamClan. If you slip up you make yourself and the guild look bad.

The Guildless is Dormant:
If the guildless isn't responding they probably lost their internet connection or something like that. Wait for around 40 minutes {nothing less ever, they could be coming back soon}. If they don't respond after 40ish minutes neomail them with something like,
Hi, I'm Claire. I saw your board and that you might be interested in a warriors guild. StreamClan is 3 years old, a literate+, active, fun, warriors roleplay guild. We have 13 active members and a roleplay more than once a day. ^^ Would you like to hear more?
If they do respond then you must have another response like,
We're traditional warriors, one clan, but our clan has different customs than others (ex.: if a cat wishes good luck to another, they'll find these pretty white, smooth stones and give them to the other cat). Like I said before, we are 3 years old, pretty old for a guild, right? We are very established. Unfortunately, after all that time we've become in need for new council members. If you would like to apply to be on council or sub council, I would most encourage you. ^^ We have guild activities and we're working on having regular gatherings with other guilds.
Hm. I can't think of much else to say. xD Here is our site:
http://www.neopets.com/~StreamClan_
Do you have any questions, concerns, comments, critique? |3
Do not copy these. Make your own.

Making Your Own Board:
First, you need to make intros for your board. These need to be at least 3 paragraphs long and they need to describe StreamClan in the best light. You must have included the plot, roleplays, what the members are like, how old we are, what we're like, and anything else you see important. An example:
StreamClan is a traditional warriors, one clan roleplay guild, but our clan has different customs than others (ex.: if a cat wishes good luck to another, they'll find these pretty white, smooth stones and give them to the other cat).
Oh! I forgot to add, we've got open council and sub council. x3 The medicine cat apprentice role was just snatched, unfortunately if you wanted that, though. Sorry for all the random -c-
MAKE your own!
After you have your descriptions you must have the application forms. Everyone must apply.

Council or Sub?
If they apply for council, send their form to Claire. If they apply for council, they must join the guild. If they apply to join, you must take them in to deep consideration. It helps to talk to another online member to discuss whether or not the member should be allowed to join or not. If the member has never roleplayed before, it is an automatic NO. We will not teach anyone how to roleplay. If they have never been in a warriors guild before they have very slim chances. If they seem semi-literate {they often lie about their literacy in the form} then it is an automatic NO.

Locking in the Member:
So a member has come to your board, they've passed the application, and you've told them they're in. Unless they're still looking they'll probably join. Tell them that you'll introduce them to everything via neomail, which you will. Just keep a tab on your board and remember to stay connected to your board in case more people come.
Send your new member a neomail like,
Hey! I'm really glad you joined StreamClan. ^^ Here is what you do now that you've joined. First, go to the portal. It has all of the links to all of the important pages you'll need.
http://www.neopets.com/~ruscello_sc
From there, go to should click on the Webbie, Land, and Member Page. Read everything on all of those pages. When you send frankie_says your cat's petpage, you roleplay. =D Feel free to introduce yourself on the board in ooc if you want now.
You may use that message.
This is the point where the Member Welcoming Committee comes in.

If SC is Private:
If StreamClan is currently private then you must find a time to make the guild public for them to join. Usually the person who found this member will do this. They will contact a council member and the guild will be public for an arranged short time for the member to join. You must arrange this time if it has not been already. Ask them for a good mutual time to join {it should only take the max. of 5 minutes}, inform a member with layout admin who will make the guild public, and the member will join the guild. The guild will then be set back to private. If you have any problems neomail Claire or Shu.
Usually if StreamClan is private the layout will be public, but an application is still required. This means that we will have a full page layout but the link button to join will be taken away so random members can't actually join. The join link on the layout will be replaced by the link to joiiin's petpage. Instead, once you've found your member, send them the guild link page. Not the direct link to the guild, just the URL to the guild link page. They should be able to join.

Member Welcoming Committee Instructions

Instructions to Welcoming:
Appoint Your Settings:
Go to the neopets homepage. Then to Control Panel. Click on Modify Account Information. Then Site Preferences. Then check Enable Guild Mailings and save. This way you will be notified when a new member has joined.

Do your Research:
Review the guild's FAQ and until you know SC from head to toe, ready to answer any question about it at the drop of a hat, may you really work this job. Quick! Do you know why SC's member count is higher than it truly is?

Creating the Message:
Open a word document and save it as yours. This is where you will hold your welcome message because you don't want to type up the same thing over and over again. You will merely write it up here, save it, and copy, paste, tweak a bit and then send. In your message you have to be very friendly. This isn't just telling the member what to do once they join, this is that and making a friendship and making the member feel welcome. Remember that you are working with two other people so all 3 of you can't be repetitive. Your message has to be original and different than the others. Ask friendly questions about them and strike up a conversation. Ask them to roleplay after they're done making their character page. Show your outgoing personality. A great example of a message would be,
Hey, I'm Claire! You must be a new member of StreamClan. ^^ I'm so glad you've joined. What can I call you? I know it's kind of nerve wracking to join a new guild but have no fear, Claire is here! The first thing that you need to do before you get started is go to the portal and read the webbie page, land page, and member page. Once you've got all the info crammed into your brain and you've made your character page you can roleplay! But don't feel rushed to make your character. (: You can come to the board and introduce yourself to everyone now! Okay, so I must sound pretty bossy right now so I'm going to slow it down a bit to get to know you. Do you have any questions or concerns about SC? ^^
Make your own original one.
Even if they've already gotten started on reading and doing their character page, strike up a conversation with them! Help them with anything they need assistance with. Anything.

Communications Crew Instructions

Communicating Instructions::
What to do:
The Communication Crew is pretty much the eyes and ears of StreamClan. You are on the guild boards often and you must make friends with other guilds. You are representing StreamClan and you cannot give us a bad name. You go onto other guild boards {note that you are not spying! we don't do that} and you talk to them. Make friendships and be outgoing and friendly. It's pretty simple. Just make friends with other guilds, advertise a bit if you have time, find SC allies and enemies {roleplay wise}, some nice people who could make us a graphic, and set up gatherings with other guilds. Gatherings are a big deal so you have to get organized with the other people on your team and figure out one. It's up to you to make StreamClan public to the world. If you don't do your job StreamClan is unheard of.

Activity Committee Instructions

Activity Instructions::
Organize:
It's a rule of thumb for the activity crew members to always keep in touch with each other. {Remember to never call them contests or you'll get in trouble.} Often neomail your fellow members and check up with them! Grow a close relationship; otherwise you won't have any fun. You have to figure out who will be the host, the judge{s}, and the balancers. The host will tell Claire and the rest of the guild about the activity update and will also host the activities page {see /~_StreamClan_ for A MODEL of what it should look like}. The Judge{s} will obviously, judge and decide the winners. The rest will keep it organized, known, neat, and tidy. All will have to come up with new ideas often and do their best to keep the activity running smoothly.

Planning the Event:
Now that you've decided on your jobs you have to figure out how to establish them. We will use the Premium Cat Awards {PCA} as an example. First have your page ready with all the desired possible nominations. Make the page neat and easy to read then make an announcement to the headmasters and to the guild {the host will get layout admin to put on the front page} about the opening event. You must decide on a date to start nominations, end nominations, and a date when winners will be selected. If you work well with your group the work should be balanced out enough so everyone finds their part easy.

Collecting, Deciding, and Giving:
First the judges shall be collecting the votes. Make sure to let everyone know who to send their votes to {the judges}. The Judges will count who had the most votes for what and tell the host and the balancers to announce the results. The balancers will then contact the winners and the winners will get a prize. This could mean a lay off from their jobs for a week or two, an image banner of anything they wish, a neo item... whatever! The key to being in this group is to be creative. Now that you've done all of that you start all over again!

Updating Instructions

Updating Instructions::
Get Your Game Face On:
Being on the updating crew means you have to make lots of time for SC. You have to keep up with everything that is happening in the guild, including the new additions, new members, new roleplays, new events, new activities etc.. You have to be up to date with everything and be ready to write a brief article about each aspect. Remember to have voice in your words so you don't seem like a drone! Have fun with it. The webbie must be updated AT LEAST EVERY MONTH. It would definitely help to have a notebook or word document saved around to write down every important detail. You'll have to write about: weather, prey, ceremonies, character drama, recent roleplays, guild updates {council positions opening etc}, and activities.

Check Your Settings:
Are you on often enough to keep in touch with everything? If not, work on that. If you happen to miss something check with your fellow updaters or go right to the source and ask the roleplayer what happened in their roleplay. Don't be shy! You're the one with the admin, remember? (: Send them a neomail. You're the rangers of SC.
Always stay connected with the updaters on your team. This is vital so you can determine who will pay attention to what topic and will write about what.
Go to the neopets homepage. Then to Control Panel. Click on Modify Account Information. Then Site Preferences. Then check Enable Guild Mailings and save. This way you will be notified when a new member has joined. This is important to you because in a updating section on the webbie you can have an interview with a new member. (: This should make the new member feel welcome and it should fill up some space.

Sending Your Articles In:
Once you've finished your article{s} neomail them to Claire. She will then put your articles on the webbie and ta-da! You're done for the month. Just remember to take notes ALWAYS on whatever is happening at any time and do your best to catch up and stay up. You're the one who has to keep everyone informed and that is very important.
