The Study! What's Going On Here? During the week of Sunday June 7th, 2009 to Sunday June 14th, 2009 I polled the Help Chat at random times throughout the day to best determine the average age on the Help Chat; is it what you thought? The Study: Over the course of one week I created boards daily at different times in order to catch the widest range of Help Chat users. I also put a note in my signature for people to mail me their ages and went around my daily life on the Help Chat. Note being me I spazzed and pounded the pet this page was originally on so I may be missing some stuff, sorry bout that! but I will correct it soon! Results What Did I Find Out? Result Overview Number of Help Chatters polled: 597 Most Common Age: 13 years old - 68 users! Most Common Age Group: Teenagers Least Common Age Group: 60+ Average of all ages: 19.68 (thanks bfw_lover_queen) Percent of Underage Users (under 13 years of age): 5.5% Percent of Teenage Users (13-19): 59.9% Percent of Users in Their 20's (20-29): 21.8% Percent of Users in Their 30's (30-39): 5.7% Percent of Users in Their 40's (40-49): 3% Percent of Users 50 or Older: 2.3 % If you add these percents it adds to about 98.2 % because of how I rounded the numbers. Variables Determining the Accuracy of this Survey When? I polled the Help Chat at different times throughout the day to get the widest range of results and make sure I didn't just get 'users on at xx o'clock during the day'. I made sure to get morning, noon and night. Where? I only polled the Help Chat and stayed off other boards when my signature had the notice to send me ages. Inconsistency? Nope, all my boards were titled the same (with their various number) and the text was the same for all of them Timeline? I started at 11 am NST on Sunday the 7th, and ended at 11 am NST on the 14th, exactly one week. Any I missed? Please let me know! Questions About The Survey Is this a joke? (Via Neomail during the survey) Nope! (Though it does sound like something I would do) Why did you decide to do this? On the Saturday before I started I saw a board asking what the average Neopians' age is, so it got me curious. I decided to do just the Help Chat because it's a smaller population to survey and since I can't contact underage people anyway, I figured I might as well use the chat boards. Plus I'm there all the time anyway :) Did you report any survey participants? No, I didn't think it was fair since it would be like I was baiting them since I was asking for their age. My age isn't on here! Sorry! But either you didn't respond to my survey or your age is over the current age attainable for humans. :( What's the oldest person you found? The oldest person was a 97 year old, the second oldest was 73. What's the youngest person you found?
