How to Apply for a Pet

Intro
Throughout this guide I will be making many food metaphors. You are the chef making a tasty hamburger (application) for the critic (foster owner) to win you the award (the pet).
Meal Prep
What do you do before you start a meal? Well first you have to take the critics order. This is the Rules of course. Know them front, back, upside down. Okay you have taken their order usually you tell a customer how long the wait is. Or the deadline. You know the deadline and the rules now it is time to start, right? Wrong. You didn't wash your hands, gross. Make sure you have all the specifics of the pet down before you even dream of starting. You must know the name, gender, species, color, and nicknames. The second you start calling Fluffy an it your chances at culinary success are out the window.
The Plate
What is a nice meal without a decadent plate to eat it off of? This is obviously the layout. Before you jump down my throat telling me you are not a coding genius, looks aren't everything, yada yada yada, remember an application is to present yourself in a ordered, sophisticated, and a visually pleasing way.
Anyway you are going to need a layout you could use something like this page. The layout can be anything you want a picture (drawn by you) of the pet, the same color scheme of the pet, but ultimately something pleasant that doesn't prevent you from seeing the text or distracting from it. So the layout is up to you, but I do recommend you doing the order like this.

You do not have to follow that exact order, but you must PUT ALL OF THE THINGS ABOUT THE PET BEFORE ANYTHING ABOUT YOU
Someone will forget so I say it again.
Why? You ask. Because an application for a pet is about the pet, not you. It is about the pet not you. Yes, applications are also a way for the owner to get a feel for you, but you are not as important as the pet, sorry.
The Top Bun
Ahh, the intro is crucial. This lures the owner into the application. You should show off your personality a bit and tell the owner why they are there. The bun also serves as an area for some formalities. You should have theses things:
1. A disclaimer explaining you were not forced to do a petpage application
2. Tell the owner what browser it is best viewed in.
3. Tell the foster your name (this is the only exception to my very stressed point in the Plate section)
Ketchup
Some ketchup always tastes nice on a burger. This is the first section called 'About the Pet'. Here you can include quick stats, Name, species, color, persona, etc.; a custom design, this is where you draw your pet different than how they look on Neo; and maybe some likes and dislikes. Giving the pet a personality is also very recommended.
The Burger
THE PLANS!!!!! This is probably the most important section of all! This is the fosters' primo reason for picking you. You must fill this section with everything you plan to do upon receiving the pet. If you intend on filling this with lies leave this guide instantly. You gone? No? Okay, it shows good character to come through on your promises and is way not cool to say a bunch of things you have no intention of doing.
What to include:
1. The Beauty Contest (do you plan on drawing the pet and entering?)
2. The Battledome (are you going to train up and fight up?)
3. Customisation (also can include a closet section with all the items your desired pet would be adorned with)
4. A petpet (what kind and what name)
5. Future petpage (what would it look like or show)
6. Neopian Times (would you enter your story of your pet for the world to see)
You do not have to include all obviously, nor are you limited to what I displayed above.
Lettuce
The 'Why so-and-so?' section. Mmm tasty lettuce. Here is where you can earn brownie points with the owner. You describe why Fluffy is so special to you and is different than any other Fluffy's colored, species.
Cheese
Crucial to any cheeseburger in paradise. This is the story of your pet. Does your pet live a troubled life? Go on an epic journey? Live a thrilling life? Is he/she fed up with the royalty life? Write a short or long story about your pet using the personality you established in the ketchup step.
Story on the Back of the Menu
While eating your meal you would like to get to know your chef so you read about them. This is the About You or Meet the Family section. The owner wants to know you don't neglect the pets you do have. Also your customer wants to know what kind of person you are what you enjoy doing on Neopets.
Sesame
Sesame seeds come after the bun, but they do not come after the conclusion in your app. This is Fan Art. For those that don't know it is Art of your desired pet drawn by other users. They are really cute and sometimes they display messages asking the owner to let Fluffy come home with you
Presentation
Art. I do NOT care if you are an awful artist! It can be the most hideous thing in the world, but it shows dedication to the pet. You also do not need a scanner just your mouse. Draw your pet in MSPaint and save it as a .png file. Upload to a hosting site. Sha bam! You have art. You do not need a ton, but at least three pieces drawn by yourself would be minimum. Also make sure you run your entire app through a spell check.
The Bottom Bun
You have put your heart and soul into an application here is where you top it off. Thank the owner for reading and hope you can receive the pet.
Critics
*cackles maniacally* You thought you were done. You think your application is great so you head to turn it in. Don't do it! Have some feedback from guild members or friends. Or may be swing down to the Pound boards and make a thread asking for feedback.
