Thoughts of Taiti's past grasp at her heart everyday. Ever since that day many fateful years ago, she was lost and confused. Washed up alone on the shore, the tired blue peophin was left without a memory and without a clue as to who she was or how she ended up there. The only clue she had of her previous life was hidden away in a battered up locket around her neck, where the name Taiti223 was engraved under a trident. Surprisingly the trident displayed on her charm was still colorful, even appearing to glow at times, while the rest of the locket was beaten and worn. Tai held the locket close to her heart, knowing that one day this would be the tip she needed to find herself again, and her family.
Unsure of what to do, Taiti spent many years traveling the shores of Neopia's lands hoping to recognize some piece of her past. With no luck, she had to figure out a way to survive, and continue with her travels. After many failed fishing attempts, she realized the amount she caught was barely enough to feed herself (let alone sell for neopoints). She continued to swim to new depths, hoping to find the lost family she longed for.
Rather than be broke and hungry, she found a way to get neopoints, while saving others in the process. From the corners of the oceans she would dive into the far reaches and save poor petpets that would otherwise go hungry and uncared for. You see, petpets aren't known for being very independent ... they need pets to become their owners so that they remain healthy. Tai would save these poor creatures and give them to the various agency shops around the Islands, who would in return hand her some neopoints for her troubles. She also found her own petpet named Flitt during a venture into the sea awhile back.
Two years ago Taiti set off on her travels as usual, hoping to rescue some petpets for her weekly neopoints. She happened to run across a lovely little Maraquan petpet, a new one called a Neuky. Fascinated by the creature, Tai slowly approached him and before she knew it, she was stung by the little bugger! The Neuky looked at her with innocent eyes, and a wee little smirk on his blue face. Tai finally managed to get him to the Maraquan Petpet shop (although it was a most painful experience). Upon arrival, the kind elephante shopkeeper giggled at Taiti's swollen skin and helped doctor her up before paying for the new petpet. As Tai was swimming out the door, the Elephante raced to her and slipped a beautiful aqua colored bottled faerie into her paws, "for the trouble.
Peering at the bottled faerie in her grasp, she was excited to show Flitt. Taiti had never held such a rare item before. She swam quickly to the spot she left her petpet, the Collectable Sea Shells Shop (to admire the lovely assortment of shells while Tai took care of business). Upon arrival, the sweet little searex beamed with excitement at the sight of the bright light glowing from the bottle in her owner's grasp. Making her usual assortment of strange noises, Tai took the chatter to mean they should release the faerie! Tai guided herself and her petpet to a nearby reef, hoping to get a little privacy. She began to remove the cork from the bottle ... bursts of yellow light and aqua sparks arose, startling the two anxious owners of the faerie.
Before they knew what was happening, the blue peophin and small searex were magically transported to above the water ... obviously going to a special destination as wind blew past their bodies. In an instant they were dropped, on a puffy cloud in front of what appeared to be a beautiful waterfall of water. As quickly as they had arrived a beautiful faerie appeared ... looking like the same one trapped in the bottle. Tai and Flitt were both shocked, and smile broadly at the gorgeous faerie. The faerie spoke: "You have rescued me! You will be rewarded with a special gift. Enter my waters ... don't be afraid, your most magical dreams will be realized." Although they were a bit afraid, they eased into the waters like the faerie requested. Taiti had always heard of a magical "Fountain Faerie" that lived in Faerieland, but she had never imagined being able to visit her magical waters. Unsure of what would happen, they let go of their fears and joined the faerie in her fountain. "Now, Taiti and Flitt ... You shall be given a reward fit for a hero - a reward which will help you uncover your past, Tai." Taiti couldn't help but let tears swell in her eyes; not only did the faerie know her name, but she also knew her greatest dream that she kept pushed away in the back of her heart.
The two arose from the waters ... flying above the fountain ... with their very own wings!!!! They looked into the water at their reflections, their beautiful appearance similar to that of the many faerie pets they had seen flying over the oceans. Flitt was dancing in excitement, and Tai proclaimed, "I'm beautiful!!" The faerie smiled at the pair, obviously happy with her choice. She began to speak, "You were always beautiful. You have a good heart. I hope these wings will lead you to the history you so long to know about yourself." Tai again began to let tears form in her eyes, "But, how will being painted faerie help me? I don't understand." The faerie nodded, "I suggest you fly around faerieland and see if anything feels familiar ... now go, that hateful lupe caught me and trapped me in that bottle - I have a lot of pets to paint! Thank you again for saving me!" Taiti thanked her and floated away into the sky, with Flitt close behind doing flying tricks with her spiffy new wings.
Flying away from the Fountain, Tai smiled at Flitt who continued dancing and doing tricks. She couldn't imagine what the magical faerie meant about discovering her past, and she was amazed to really be flying above the land ... not swimming around it. She began to circle the high towers of Faerie City ... when she saw a strange light coming from a nearby -blocked- Feeling compelled to investigate, she motioned for Flitt to come with her. They eased towards the -blocked-.. and BAM. In they went, spiraling towards land. She gazed around at the landscaping, and smirked at her petpet, "Looks like we're not in Faerieland anymore, Flitt.
They look around for a bit, circling the skies. "What is this place?" Taiti guided herself towards the highest building in the center ... she read carefully: Altadorian Hall of Heroes. "Flitt ... come look at this!" Flitt zoomed to her, obviously intrigued. Before Tai could say anything more, Flitt darted inside one of the tall windows of the building disappearing from sight. "FLITT! Come back here! I don't even know if we are supposed even to BE here!" When she found no response, she followed the petpet by entering the building through the same -blocked- She entered into a room filled with statues, twelve to be exact. She noticed Flitt annoying a yurble janitor behind the statues. The janitor was obviously frustrated, trying to whack at the petpet with his mop. Flitt bounced around, flying around him and making what appeared to be giggling sounds as she tormented him. With her new faerie wings, she could easily dodge his "weapon" of choice! The Yurble growls and says "Get away from that button!!!! Just don't touch that button!!!"
Taiti begins to go towards them ... when suddenly she found herself flying towards the statues. Towards one particular statue. Her heart is grew heavier with each movement she takes towards it. A peophin statue ... a statue of Marak, the Wave. She studies it for a moment, he looks so very familiar. Tai is unable to remove her stare from the statue ... something, some part of her knows this Marak the Wave.
Suddenly, her locket appears on her neck. She touches it, remembering she had left it in safekeeping back in Maraqua. Yet now it was around her neck, and shining with the fury of gold, yellow, and aqua. The trident on the locket is the same as the one Marak is holding ... Tai was baffled. She flew slowly closer to the statue, and touched the trident he was carrying. The trident began to glow, her heart began to warm, her lost memories beginning to resurface.
Tears began to flow from Taiti's beautiful eyes, as she proclaimed: "You are not Marak, you are my GRANDFATHER! My wonderful great, great grandfather. I remember everything. The villagers, the giant rock that fell into our home ... that's how I was injured, thats how I got lost from my family .. my family. I have finally found my family once again... Oh grandfather ..." She begins to hold onto the statue, and loosens her grip slowly as she acknowledges that this isn't her grandfather, simply a statue of him. Tears are cascading down her cheeks, she had finally regained the memory she had tried for years to recall. But her family, where were they? Were they killed by the villagers? Taiti's mind was racing with millions of thoughts ... millions of questions that must be answered. What is this place? Where is her mother? Her father? Her grandfather? Would she ever find the answers she needed?
TO BE CONTINUED...
I'm sure you're wondering how Tai came across Flitt, her crazy little petpet? Well .. it's quite an interesting story ...
On a petpet rescue mission just off the shores of Mystery Island Taiti swam into the deep depths. She had not seen any petpets for hours now, and she had a strange feeling about it. Starting to turn away and head back to main lands, the sight of a cute little green searex appeared in the distance. She started to go towards the searex, when a large maraquan grarrl came her way ... obviously hungry and hoping for his next meal.
The petpet watched from the distance in horror as the blue peophin was chased by the terrifying grarrl. Feeling annoyed, she shaked her body as if preparing herself for a battle. At full speed, as much as her little body could muster, she pelleted towards the grarrl. Furious at the big creature (with enormous teeth, we must mention) ... she started biting at the fins of the grarrl. Unable to throw her off, the petpet continued on her mission to disable the maraquan bully. After a few minutes of the torture, the grarrl growled ... "OKAY, OKAY, I give up!" Crying like a baby his tears blended into the water as he dashed off ... Taiti bowed to her wonderful hero ... "You saved my life! I can never thank you enough!"
She seemed to understand Tai's purpose of "rescuing" her from the waters, even though it was apparent she was capable of fighting her own battles. The searex followed closely behind the peophin, knowing that they were headed to the Tyrannian Petpet Shoppe. On the way, they passed by the grarrl, bandaged up and talking to a few of his bully buddies. They overheard him bragging, "It was monster! I almost died! The creature was bigger than the entire land of Neopia!" Overhearing this, the green searex dashed into view towards the grarrl once more. *flittt, flittttt, flitttt* she hissed in the direction of the bully. As soon as he saw the crazed petpet, he made a mad dash towards the safety of the nearby coral reef.
Pointing at the small petpet, his friends laughed rapidly exclaiming .. "The PETPET is what almost killed you?!?!" The searex was not amused and glared at them with her piercing eyes, beginning to make her now signature *flittt, flittttt, flitttt* hissing sound. As quickly as the grarrl did, the three pets scrambled from sight. Taiti looked back in glee, obviously impressed and amazed by the stubborn searex. She smiled at the small green petpet .... "Well, how about you become my petpet and we call you Flitt?" The searex beamed with excitement, and swam around the peophin with happiness. Since that fateful day, and the near death experiences of Tai (and the grarrl after her!) ... they've been best friends.
