Welcome and Greetings

⋆ Why, hello there! How did you stumble upon our Storybook?
⋆ Well, we are so delighted to meet a new face! Here in our world, we take care to welcome everybody since we are all important human beings, yes?

Now then, let me tell you a little more. Storybook is a Neorelated guild with a fairy tale subtheme. Oh, you look confused. I shall clarify. We are a Neorelated guild since the activities and layouts are Neorelated, yet teh structure of the guild is based on that of a fairy tale kingdom. We also have aspects of fairy tales woven into many aspects of the guild. For example, our 'teams' are called kingdoms, our 'yearbook' is the Kingdom Census, and our 'bank' is the Treasury. Make sense?

Oh, that reminds me, why don't you come on a little tour of our kingdoms? There are three of them, you know, but they are outlined on the Kingdom page, so I won't launch into detailed explanation here. For now, I'll just mention that you will be adopted into a kingdom upon joining. Sound fun? Of course!

So, why don't you look around a little on your own. Being an intelligent being, I'm sure you are able to. ;)

...Journey into our Past

Once, in the marvelous city of Dachia, three families ruled. They were the Astors, the Barrymores, and the Everleighs. All went well and the city prospered until a storm destroyed the city, scattering people's boxes everywhere and causing many to flee. However, a select group of people stayed, including the mayor. They milled around in the ruins of their closed city for a few days. A passing witch took pity on them and found the old Dachian White Pages. With the help of some fairies, she transformed the book into something elaborate and beautiful. It was a Storybook, which would soon be filled with tales of the people who stayed in Dachia. She sent the people into the book, where they found a new world and a new beginning awaiting them. They were in a realm where fairy tales were prominent and the kingdom was based on those fairytales. The three Dachian families re-manifested themselves with new identities in the kingdom found in the storybook. Although the previous mayor found herself devoured by a conviv-I mean, ferocious dragon, the group still decided to build their own kingdom in this place, a place they would call Storybook. The future awaits...

The Laws of the Land

1. Follow the Terms and Conditions set by TNT. We wouldn't want any of our lovely members getting in trouble, yes?
2. Dramas and plays are fun to watch, but no drama on the guild boards. Drama is for greedy wives who want too much form a Golden Fish. It never ends well, you see? But, if there really is a problem, you can contact Lianne or one of the family heads.
3. Follow the literacy policy, please.
4. Do not post more than three times in a row. It's a simple as that. Nobody likes spam, so avoid it at all costs. Otherwise, we may send a hungry dragon to devour you.
6. We do have member sweeps to keep our members active. So, try to post at least every week and a half. If this is a problem for you due to busy schedules, vacations, or computer issues, neomail Lianne so she knows not to sweep you. These sweeps will occur every two weeks.
7. Enable guild mailings so you can receive lovely updates delivered to your very own inbox!

Oh, and if you were very observant and astute, you may have noticed Rule 5 missing. You see, one of the dwarves hid it in their cave and it's been lost to us forever.

Literacy Policy

Oh, this is a fun part. We get the chance to appreciate our ability to read and write correctly.
1. We are a fully literate guild. This means that semi-literacy doesn't cut it.
2. No chatspeak whatsoever. It doesn't take that long to type out a whole word, so to keep the message board a lovely place, don't use abbreviations. However, we definitely accept smileys. Those things are so cute.
3. Please use correct capitalization and punctuation. That means that I's need to be capitalized and the first letter of every sentence must be capitalized. There also needs to be a punctuation mark at the end of each and every sentence. Do NOT end your sentences with a only a smiley.
4. Try to keep make your post at least two sentences long. It's sometimes difficult for people to respond to just a few words and we wan to keep up an enlightening conversation.

So, as you can see, we take literacy seriously.
However, despite this one strict part of the guild, it's still easy to have fun, relax, and get to know some new people through random or serious conversations. :D

Our Kingdom Hierarchy

Most of you probably want to know about the different positions we have on our kingdoms, so here they are. Just take note that rising to greatness and prestige takes loyalty, dedication, and perseverance. Can you get there?

Mushroom Picker

Well, you must be a newcomer! You've just moved into a kingdom and you have no money yet. How sad. Well, you have to find somewhere to live, right? So, you might as well build yourself a shabby hut out of some straw and mud. When you reach fifty posts, a passing pig will come and tell you that sticks and mud are better building materials. However, you still won't be safe from big bad wolves. But don't lose hope! Once you reach a hundred posts, you'll be able to find some bricks to fortify your hut.

While you live in this hut, you have no job, so you'd better hurry and go out to pick some mushrooms in the wild. You'll be living on them until the villagers decide to let you into the village. The toadstools are poisonous, though, so be careful!

-----Return

Villager

You've posted 150 times and you've been in your kingdom for a week. People have gotten to know who you are and they no longer consider you a foreign newcomer, so guess what?

They've invited you to live in the village! Of course, you accept. That big bad wolf had been bothering you more and more in the forest and a proper home surrounded by other humans sounds really nice. So, the shoemaker invites you to live with them in their cottage and you willingly move in.

Ah yes, this is a much better life than foraging mushrooms in the forest! The only problem is that even though you tried to find a job with the shoemaker, you can't. Why not? Well, the shoemaker's shoes are always fully built every morning, even if they weren't done yet last night. Hmm, maybe some magical creatures are creeping in and doing the work...

-----Return

Artisan

You've been in the kingdom for two and a half weeks and you've posted 399 times! Why 399? Well, it's a multiple of three and this is the third rank! Anyways, that's beside the point. You've earned forty-five jewels, as well, by finding some odd jobs here and there and learning to do new things. Finally, you're ready to move on.

You move out of the shoemaker's family and into your own cottage. Yes, your very own. Now, you are an artisan, working in the village alongside some others of the same profession. You have steady income now, thank goodness and can afford to furnish your own new home into a nice, cozy little area.

Because you're working as an artisan now and helping the village grow, you are allowed to visit the forest from time to time for pleasure walks. Enjoy the trees, the fresh air, and the wooden house at the end of the trail. But, be careful around there when you visit. There are rumors of three bears living there. A big one, a medium one, and a little baby one.

-----Return

Guard

Well, well, well. I must say that I'm impressed! You have survived in the kingdom for five and a half weeks. You've also made connections since you've gotten to know everybody so well through your 805 posts. You're even getting wealthier! Your time as an artisan has earned you 124 jewels. It seems that people are starting to really respect you and look up to you. So, you've been asked to become a guard!

Your new job is to protect the kingdom. Make sure the laws (rules and literacy policy) are followed and generally keep order in the kingdom. Welcome in the new mushroom pickers, tell some foreigners about the kingdoms. Try to invite some in. These are the responsibilities of a guard. Yet, there are some perks.

You might have been thinking that guards live in barracks. Well, no. We appreciate our guards enough that they get to move into a two story house. These houses are all located in Knight's Avenue, where you will meet other guards who will help you with your new job. Sounds good? Definitely.

-----Return

Nobility at Last

Come in, come in, guard. You've been a brilliant guard in so many ways. You take time to get to know everybody through your 1500 posts. You've been loyal to your kingdom for two months, and you've helped keep the guild running smoothly. It was no easy feat, but you did it! Therefore, to show our appreciation, you have been allowed to enter nobility!

As a noble, you'll get to have some special privileges. You'll also be able to buy an estate of your very own with the four hundred jewels you've earned. With servants at your beck and call, you'll live a life of luxury. Oh, and you'll have lots of influence. You've made it to one of the top rungs in the social hierarchy of the kingdoms, and we congratulate you!

So, having made it this far, you'll want to show off a bit, right? Well, we'll give you a banner to put onto your lookup so you can prove to everyone that you are now a powerful noble within your kingdom!

The Three Kingdoms

Storybook is made up of three different kingdoms. Upon joining, you will take the test below and one kingdom will choose to adopt you. They will be your family and the people you will work with. You'll find that we are very loyal to our kingdoms. ;)

The links below give a short summary about each kingdom. Each kingdom also has a homepage, but those are in secret locations. When you are sorted into a kingdom, you will be given the secret link. -gasp-

As the guild gets more members, there will be a plot involving the three kingdoms, each of which is vying for more power. One little event could disrupt the peace equilibrium and cause a lot to happen...

Kingdom of Attolia
Kingdom of Florencia
Kingdom of Exonia
Adoption Test

The Kingdom of Attolia

Currently ruled by Queen Lianne, Attolia is the oldest kingdom, having been around for a few centuries. It is also the richest, its founders being those fairy tale characters who were born into royalty. Who would they be? Well, to name a few: Sleeping Beauty, most of the Princes, the Goose Girl, the Twelve Princesses, etc...

So, characters like these and their relatives founded Attolia. Because of its royal background, the Attolians are rather prideful and sometimes even arrogant. They believe that they are the best and the most deserving of greatness, having been around the longest and being of high heritage. They are fond of power and do not like to lose their authority. They also have high moral standards, looking down on anything that doesn't fit within the rules of royal etiquette.

As for their relationship with the other kingdoms, besides thinking that they are the best, Attolians have a better relationship with Florencia than with Exonia. Although they don't like how the founders of Florencia were originally commoners, they dislike even more the scheming and plotting of Exonia.

----Return

The Kingdom of Florencia

Currently ruled by Miss Rachelle, Florencia is the newest kingdom on the horizon. The founders rose from low positions in society to royalty or nobility. These founders include Cinderella, Thumbelina, Belle, the Goat Girl, etc...

However, being the newest kingdom, they are also the poorest with the least amount of land. Despite this small setback, they are the kindest and humblest of the three. Some would even say they are the most loved by the villagers. They love extending a helping hand to others and warmly welcoming foreigners into the kingdom.

Although they are the humblest, they will still defend their kingdom, believing that they are the only kingdom that treats everyone equally. They dislike the tricks of the Exonians and the strict hierarchy associated with the Attolians.

----Return

The Kingdom of Exonia

Currently ruled by Lady Tree, Exonia is the most mysterious kingdom. It was founded under unknown circumstances by all the darker and shadier characters of the fairy tales, such as Rumpelstiltskin, Snow White's stepmother, Malificent, and the Troll King. Overall, Exonia is known for its trickery and underground businesses. There have been some strange disappearances associated with those who have offended the Exonians.

However, despite the kingdom's questionable reputation, the Exonians are quite intelligent. They have a strict education system, yet not many know where all that intelligence is directed...

They are only about two centuries old, so they are between Attolia and Florencia in terms of age. Yet, this does not stop them from hating both kingdoms equally, with a passion. You see, the founders of Exonia had been thwarted by those who founded the other two kingdoms in the fairy tales. So, not their descendants are determined not to lose again.
