I saw a large hole in the cave floor. It was filled with water, as far as i could tell. There was an equal sized hole on the ceiling of the cave. The moon shone almost directly overhead. I knew that I had made it- I was looking at the fire pool. "Where's the fire?" I thought. But as I stepped closer, flames sprang up around the edges of the pool. I nearly fell back, but i caught myself. I knew that I had to get through to that pool. I had to get my magic; I had gone through way too much to give up now. The moon was now directly aboce the ceiling hole. A surge of power leapt through me, and i leapt through the fire. It burned my skin, and I would have screamed, but I landed in the water. It was icy cold and felt good after passing through the fire. I looked at my hands. They were darkened and scorned by the fire, but as the water trickled through my fingers, the pain stopped and the injuries healed. I examined my skin; it was no longer burned. The flames shrank back into the ground. A strong impulse took over me, and I knew what I had to do. I scooped up some water from the pool and drank deeply, then stood up, and looked at the moon. It was brighter than usual, and seemed to make a spotlight around me. The water sprang around my feet in little waves once the moonlight touched it. I closed my eyes, completely relaxed despite how cold i was. The little waves rose higher and swirled slowly around me. I realized that my feet were no longer touching the pool. I spread out my arms and tilted my head back. The water was completely surrounding me now, but it didn't touch my body. It felt like mist around me. It was the most pleasant feeling in the world, but I couldn't describe it. And at the same time, I knew what it was. It was magic.
