I couldn't care less about this page anymore. The Help Chat in particular has become a horrible place. People yell at other people for posting a topic and start a fight just because it doesn't have a question. Most of the people there are too involved in yelling at other people rather that actually helping. Plus it makes me sick how people worship the spammers now. The Help chat is the least friendly forum on Neopets.

I now prefer to visit the Battledome or Stockmarket boards.

What is a spammer?
A spammer is generally someone who deliberately creates off topic boards to annoy everyone. They usually post annoying messages, and sometimes they post innapropriate things. Whether or not a board is classified spam depends on which topic it is under. Off topic spam boards are normal on the newbies board and other boards like the other worlds board, where as the help chat and other topics like avatar chat have much stricter rules.

Why do people spam?
Believe it or not, the reason why people spam is for attention. They find it fun to create an off topic or innapropriate board and create some sort of chaos.

So how do I stop spammers?
If you want to stop spammers, simply ignore their board and do not post anything on their board.

Why?

The main reason spammers spam is for attention. If you reply to their board, you give them the attention they crave. By replying to a spammer, you are encouraging them. Just do not post at all on their board. Do not go on their board and post "reported" because the spammer simply does not care if they are frozen. Telling them that they are reported wont make them stop. You can report them if you want, but just dont post it. Dont call them a noob, or make up some sort of insult either, you are also feeding them the attention they desire and encouraging them.

Another reason why you do not post on a spammers board is because it bumps it up to the top. Everytime a board is posted on, it goes back up to the top of the list. by posting on a spammers board, you are bringing back up to the top and bringing more people to the board, which gives the spammer more attention. This will do anything but stop the spammer.

The very best way to get rid of a spammer is by making them bored. If they dont get the attention they desire, they give up. Having their account frozen doesn't make a difference. Usually they make a new account and spam again.

Things not to do:
Since spammers want attention, do not make another board about them. You are spaming yourself and providing them with attention. Dont go around asking everyone to report them either, chances are a lot of people already have.

To sum it all up, when you see a spammer, ignore them. they will get bored. If you respond to them at all, you are encouraging them.
