The doe slowly opened her silver eyes as she awakened from her long sleep. She began to look at her surroundings as the world gradually came into focus: a deep thicket surounded by tall evergreens and thick brambles, with small spots of light dappling the moss-covered ground beneath her. She couldn't seem to remember how she got there... in fact, she couldn't seem to remember anything at all. Hundreds of unanswerable questions began to fill her mind: who am I? what am I doing here? The only item she appeared to have was a moon-shaped pendant strung around her neck. A slight sense of panic crept up on her, and she leapt to her feet. I need to remember... she thought. Racking her brain seemed to do no good. She shook her head in frustration, catching her hair in the surrounding brambles. my name, she whispered as she tore her hair free, i've got to at least remember my name.
She had once been quite a handsome doe - traces of beauty still remained on her dirt-covered features. She had a coat of deep, midnight blue, though it was tattered and messy. Her hooves and the long black hair that fell in front of her eyes were both jet black. Her underbelly had once matched the bright silver of her eyes. A small marking resembling a star was decorating her hindquarters. She had wings as well - though they appeared to be too small to support her weight in flight.
Deep in thought, the doe sat down once again on the moss-carpeted ground. An image crept into her mind of a group of ixis sitting in a meadow. Who were they? In this fleeting memory she heard one of them call her name: stargazer.
so that's it, she thought. stargazer. A moment later the doe - Stargazer - had gotten to her feet once more. She began to walk - not sure exactly where she was going; just letting her hooves lead the way. The vague memory lingered in her mind, and she was determined to uncover more of her past.
The woods seemed so distantly familiar - Stargazer was sure she'd been there, though the memory was just barely beyond her grasp. As she walked, more came back to her - she remembered a herd, maybe even a family... Instinct told her she was in the right place, though she could tell it had been entirely transformed, and it was now completely deserted. Still, she continued to search, hoping to find someone, something, anything from the life she once had.
