Here you can make your own custom progress monitor thingy

As you can see, unlike most progress monitors, you can have any perentage you want, not just multiples of 10. Whats even better is that all you have to do to make one is alter one line of HTML. You do not need any image programs, and you do not need to wait for me to make you one.

This is the URL of a typical progress monitor:

Quick Guide There are three parts to this URL. The blue bit is always the same, it never changes. The green bit changes the background image. This is in two parts and looks like "?image=[URL HERE]". To make your own progress monitor change the URL to the URL of the item your are saving up for. The red bit should be self explainitory, just change the number to anything from 0 to 100.

Step 1 Get the background image. You need an image for the background of the monitor, the best way to find the image URL is to go to the trading post and search for the item, for example "Faerie Queen Doll". Then find the image and right click on it and select propeties. In the window that pops up it should say URL or location, copy this bit and paste it into the box below.

Step 2 Adjust the HTML. In the box below replace [URL HERE!] with the URL you just got.

Step 3 Work out your progress. To work this out you need to know the price of the item your are saving up for (use the trading post to find this) and how much money you have. Divide your money by the price of the item and multiply this number by 100. For example if you are saving up for a faerie queen doll (1.6 million) and you have 374,068NP:

(374068 / 1600000) * 100 = 23.37925%

You can use the neopets calculator if you do not have one handy.

The monitor only works with whole numbers so round the number, in this case I would get 23%. In the HTML code above replace [NUMBER] with the number you just worked out. At this stage you may want to test whether it works, copy everythin in between the quotes after src= and paste it into the navigation bar and hit enter, you should see a your monitor.

Step 4 Finally copy + paste the HTML code into your shop/gallery/petpage/lookup/petlookup/guild and you should have a nice shiny monitor thingy :P

How long did it take you to make every possible image? I didn't make every image, so not long :P The images are made by a PHP script which is only 100 lines of code and makes all the images on-the-fly, so its much more versatile and took much less time

The background image is distorted Its designed to use 80x80 item images, so if you put in a different size image, like an avatar, it will be streched/shrunk. If you use an animated image, only the first frame is used

If you are wondering what in neopia an automatic rater is then look below, this is a modified example rater. You can vote as many times as you want and all votes expire after twenty minutes. Try voting and you can probably see the average votes change. As with all the raters you will not be able to vote if your browser is incompatible.

What is a rater?
It is effectively just an image, but when people click on certian links they will be able to submit a rating. You can see an example in the example here.

How does it work
The image is actually a PHP script, which can make generate images. The script finds the average vote and displays that many stars. It records your vote using the $_SERVER["HTTP_REFERER"] variable, the value of this variable is the URL of the page which directed you to the script. In this case the referring page is the page which the image is placed on. Once it has recorded your vote it adds it to a MySQL table and updates the average vote. (it dosen't actually do exactly that but it would take ages to explain it fully.)

Is this a CG?
Nope, A CG needs JS (java-script without the hyphen) to work. the CG reads your cookies using JS and then sends them to an different site where they are stored and where the scammer/hacker can use them. The PHP script in the rater image is hosted on php1h.com. Therefore it cannot read your neopets.com cookies. The raters do not use cookies at all, they know whether you have voted by storing your IP adress in a MySQL table.

I just see "you will not be able to vote" all the time!
This means your browser does not send the address of the reffering page. This is usually because of an internet security program, an addon for your browser or a privacy setting in your browser. You will have to adjust it so that your browser sends these referrer URLS
