* If you didn't know, AP stands for Advanced Placement & DE stands for Dual Enrollment; they're two kinds college level courses that you take in high school.
...grrawrrl... "Oh ya my stomach." It is late afternoon and you haveve been wandering around the back side of Shenkuu to find someone that could help you get back home ever since this morning, when your map was ruined in the water. You haven't eaten in quite some time and are simply famished. You decide to look for something to eat and settle on a small patch of brown-spotted mushrooms.
These seem harmless enough," you think to yourself. Just as you're about to take a bite someone shouts "STOP!! Don't eat that!" and she swipes that delicious-looking mushroom right out of your hands.
Before you have time to protest, the rather plush-looking purple kougra tosses the mushroom aside and exclaims, "Geeze! Do you want to have NeoWarts for a month!" You can't help but just stand there in complete shock and awe, as this stranger frantically lectures on and on like your mother.
What in Neopia were you thinking! blah blah blah Don't you know how dangerous it is to eat things you find just lying around? blah blah I don't think you would pick up a green-spotted purple hot dog up off the road in Neopian Central then eat it, rright?! blah blah bla It is extremely dangerous even for experts to eat naturally growing wild mushrooms, and even more so for someone who has absolutely no idea wha-- OH NO! Your Hands!
You glance down at your hands that had been holding the snatched mushroom just a few minutes earlier. You discover that to your horror, they are covered with big, disgusting, cauliflower like lumps!
Oh no it appears that I was too late! the Plushie Kougra cries.
Terrified, you shout back, "What is happening to me!
The poison from those mushrooms you picked are starting to take effect.
POISON!!"
Don't worry, it isn't life threatening, but the nearest Hospital is all the way in Neopia Central. Quickly; You'll have to come back with me to my house so I can treat you before it spreads.
She leads you about a mile and a half down the mountain to the river. You two cross a small wooden bridge and come to a modest, yet elegant house, built in the traditional Shenkuu style, and overlooking the river.
Once inside, the kougra rushes to a row of cabinets hanging on the wall. She selects several bottles of potions, a few brown paper bags, and a small bowl. Carefully she maneuvers around various counters, tables, and peculiar-looking houseplants; you had at first mistaken for baby trees; while balancing all the items from the cabinet in her arms.
She sets the ingredients down on the table in front of where you are sitting. The two of you chat a bit while she mixes small amounts of the potions together in the bowl. You learn that the plushie kougra's name is Kahia, she has lived in Shenkuu for many years, studying its native mushroom species, and was at one time Anshu's apprentice at Remarkable Restoratives. A few minutes later, she picks up the small paper bag and you draw back with a yelp when you see the blue and orange mushrooms she pulled out. "MUSHROOMS! Those darn things are what got me into this mess in the first place!"
and they are what will get you out of this mess," Kahia replies in a wise tone. The mushrooms you picked up earlier gave you a mild case of NeoWarts on your hands and forearms. This mushroom, a Neowart Fungus is the most fast and effective cure for NeoWarts.
Kahia grinds the dried Neowart Fungus into a fine power and adds it to the foul-smelling concoction. You rub the lotion-like medicine into your arms and to your amazement; the bumps disappear within 20 minutes.
You look puzzled. Do you have some questions for me?" Kahia asks you.
Well, actually I was wondering about one thing. Earlier, I only had to touch those mushrooms for a few minutes and my skin broke out like this, but you came in contact with them too. Yet, you haven't had any reaction. Are you immune to them or something?
Oh, in a way yes. You may have noticed that I am painted plushie. This works well to my advantage as a mushroom specialist. Because my skin is composed differently than yours; very cloth-like, most mushrooms have little or no effect on me."
Wow that's very interesting. Well, thank you very much for your help, I should really be off now."
Coming Soon...
This will be the story of Kahia's petpet and faithful friend, Athena.
I have always loved plushie kougras. Why? I don't really know actually, but I still do. At some point around the beginning of last year, I finally decided to save up for a Plushie Paint Brush, so I could paint one myself. By the time I had saved up a considerable amount, Neopets released the Neopet redraws. The unfortunate significance of this did not hit me until a few weeks later. Most of the Plushie-painted pets, including Kougras, are among the group of Neopets who remain un-customized unless you want them to change. At first I thought that this meant they could still have capability if they were painted now. You can probably imagine the devastation I felt when I found out that this was not the case. :( Sure, the redrawn Kougras have the same color scheme and almost the same markings, but they're just not the same pet. It's almost like they have lost their individuality. The unique pose and -disallowed_word-Which will become a mini-gallery dedicated to her.), and other items that are in my gallery for Kahia, I've already used up half my savings.(You could say I'm not very squeamish, about using large chunks of my neopoints to buy nice things for my pets. After all, what else would I use them for?
I was originally drawn to Kahia, because she is an unconverted, Plushie Kougra. Once I saw her amazing name** my decision to to actually put forth the two and a half-month effort to create a great application was set in stone.(**Just her actual name. I hadn't realized it actually had a real-word meaning at this point, which is even better!) I'm pretty picky about pet names nowadays I've grown to greatly dislike names with just random letters, underscores, and numbers, so Kahia was totally perfect! (Yes, my xweetok, Thyme, is the exception because she was my first pet on this account and despite her horribly jumbled name, I simply cannot bring myself to pound her).
I have quite a few plans for Kahia. (Obviously otherwise I wouldn't have this section or really even be applying in the first place ;))
The tiny text box on this page is really starting to bug me, so after I adopt Kahia I am going to completely redo the layout of her pet page in a more user-friendly manner. (Nice graphics, a large, easy to read text box, and Navigation bar) Below is a sketch of my current plan. Kahia, and all the other elements of this design will be given clean lineart and color in photoshop before I am done.
Yes, I know that Weewoo (or is it weewoos? hurm *ponders* ...ok enough of that...) are a relatively pricey petpet (about 850k + 50k for the yellow paint brush), but I am perfectly capable of affording it. Right now I'm waiting on a reply from some people about the paint brush. Both the basic, unpainted Weewoo and Yellow Petpet Paint Brush for Kahia are in my gallery now! :D(Along with a few other items for her)
A few things I'm thinking about at the moment for Kahia's better design:

This one was from the first layout I made for Kahia.

This is an alternate cell-shaded version of this layout. *Yaawwwn*

I'm still trying to work out the kinks in the style I want to draw Kahia in. She still looks to skinny for my tastes, so I'm going to start using reference pictures of a few big cats (Leopards, jaguars, and tigers) to make her a bit more "sturdy".

Remember what I said about how I come up with good ideas at the weirdest times? Well I just came up with this one about half an hour ago while doing Chemistry homework! This is the first time I've done Kahia as furry anthro and I like it a lot actually.

So what did you do on your election day? Oh, spent 3 or 4 hours drawing a picture, when I probably should have been getting ahead on homework. How 'bout you?
