Shen Shu'hui stood tall at the door of her new residence. She hoped. Sighing, she saluted, her short staff held at ready and against the small of her back, and rang the door bell, then snaps to full attention, waiting for the door to open.
After a few minutes, which felt like days to the young Ruki, the door opened, a rather sleepy-looking Stately Darigan Ixi peeking through, "Oui?
She took a deep breath, avoiding eye contact with him, an swallows, her nerves getting to her, "Novadar Von Callan?
The Ixi looks her face over, then takes in the whole warrior garb, and narrowing the opening of the door a touch, he nods,Oui, that is me...
She fights the urge to let out a sigh, "Chief Wil'ac of Lycanria has selected me out of the few Immortal Scarabine Circle Guards to watch over you and your family, protecting you. I hope I am to your standards, Sir!
Novadar blinks, opening the door more, his curiousity getting the better of him "Immortal Scarabine Circle?
She relaxes a little, her eyes meeting his, "The Immortal Scarabine Circle is an elite force of bodyguards, given the markings of immortality in exchange for servitude. Our village sends all the children to train, but only ten every four years makes it to elite status to be trained as a Scarabine Guard.. And at most only five finish their training, if any at all. I am one of the newest recruits. The first female since the great founder of the Circle, Ka'alic Takia... My teacher and the teacher of all of the Circle... Few make it to the elite because of her standards... I was the only one to make it through this year.
Shen's shivering stops, suddenly feeling proud, since she WAS the first female to meet Ka'alic's standards, "We are trained in multiple forms of martial arts... Combats forms and weapons. We are trained in magics that will provide useful to our wards.. And we are trained in the arts, mannors, and the ways of the nobles, to be as one of them and be their friends... Hardened Warriors and Gentle guardians...
Novadar's eyes soften, "What about the ones that didn't make it through the training?
She smiles brightly, "They return to the village stronger then when they left, and more mature. Our people are prosperous because of the circle. Wise and powerful. The training helps all...
With a sigh of relief, Novadar rubs the sleep out of his eyes, "Well, I should let you in... Wil'ac would just come himself if I didn't accept you in, and you seem more then qualified.. But, I have just one question for you...
She dusts off her uniform, "Yes?

As a member of the Scarabine Circle, I was trained to train petpets and petpetpets to aid me and my Wards. I only have a few trained so far, but I will be adding to my collection over time.
You would think that, since I don't own my own place, that I wouldn't have a place for all of them.. Well, before the Circle would hold them at Shifting Sands, our headquarters, but Mister Von Callan was kind enough to build a Menagerie on his property to house all of them.
Each one of my petpets have a specific task and a name, and I am often accompanied by them, so if we talk, do not be surprized if they show up as well.
Amen'Bes: Amen'Bes is a Duiker Nuk. Duiker are an antelope that also eats meat, often catching small prey animals and eatting from Carrion. Amen Bes is a guardian animal, my first trained pet. He is a gift to me from my mother, Tonida Shu'Hui, for when I first joined the Scarabine Circle.
Amen is a Guard Nuk, patroling the grounds, grazing. When someone tries to enter, he makes a sharp call and grunts twice, then starts to follow the person who is entering. If they proove agressive, Amen attacks. If they are placid and kind, he continues to follow them until they either leave the property or my ward or I give them the all clear.
He is relentless when it comes to his job. He cannot bring down larger animals, but often time he can keep them busy long enough for backup.
Sakhmis: Sakhmis is a beautiful Lion Albat, a truely powerful creature. She's mostly my hunting partner when in the wilds, and often sleeps with me at night. She's not very friendly with strangers, however she has taken a liking to young Vivica von Callan and Novadar's beloved Cari Seacrest...
...As well as my old friend Tetsquati. Sakhmis sometimes seems jealous of our close friendship, often getting between us and demanding more attention from him. I guess it has to do with him being both feline and having a connection with birds, but it might also be that soothing aura he has about him.

The Immortal Scarabine Circle Guards are trained in the harshed environments around the world, and raised in the finest of palaces. They learn humility and noblility, strength and control. Emotion and the ability to control it.
They are not emotionless fighting machines, but Guardians. To hire one, you must pay, not in Neopoints or treasures, but by giving a child into the village to act as a hopefull replacement for the one being removed. After training, if they do not become a Guard, they are returned to their true home.. But the Guard remains with their wards and the returned child will send their future first child into the training as well. Many do this more then willingly, since the training given to the children is the best education and care they can recieve. Many small villages will give half of their children to the Circle for training, hiring a Guard to watch their chiefs family and keep them just, and bettering the tribe as a whole.
In some circles, the Scarabine's are considered nothing but a myth, or unheard of. They are a secret people, traveling endlessly so they will be used to moving swiftly, building upstrength and endurance, learning how to survive in all environments.
Their founder, Ka'alic Takia, was a female Ruki with a Giant Scarabug for a petpet. She adventured far, and learned many things. And learned from an old, monk about a way to make life better for many and the true secret to immortality. The Immortal must be humble, or they lose it all. The immortal are destined to Serve... And that just what was needed to make the world better. So, she collected the best warriors, artists, gentlemen (and gentle women) and scholars that would come to her, and founded the circle. The founders were forever bound to the school, and thus immortal. They must justly teach and raise the students. To leave ment to age again, and to eventually fade away. Many of the less focused members left over the first hundred or so years, but eventually they were truely strong.. And, unfortionately, since she was the only one without a family out of the females, Ka'alic was the only female left in the circle.
Until Shen. Even though she is a guard, she must take up apprentaces occationally, teaching them their ways and showing them the ropes. She's now a teacher of their ways.
Blue and Gold means they are a part of the Main Circle. They are the main teachers, traveling as a pack with the main courses.
Red and Black means they are a First Class Scarabine Guard and thus a field teacher.
Silver And Green represents they are Second Class Guards, having made it past the first training course and show true promise of becoming a First class Scarabine Guard. They are giving minor, short term assignments, and apprentice with First Class Guards. This is where the guards are able to design their uniforms.
Tan and brown are the Rookies, nicknamed Rocks or Pebbles. Older members that join later in life often are teased with the name "Boulder". Their colors help hide them from enemies while traveling across deserts, since the deserts is considered the most dangerous area they could be. Though, somehow, they've never lost a single child. Their age ranges five to fifteen. Their ranks within the group are defined by Earrings.
Scarabine Guards, First Class, are bound to their wards until told by them that they are free. They then must return to the Circle and are either hired out again or, considering how they did in their job, possibly entered as a full time Gold and Blue.
