Shanny's story

Shanny's past was not a pleasant one. She was born somewhere in terror mountain, the winds blew harshly everyday and food relatively scarce. Shanny cannot remember her birth parents for she was abandoned at an early age. It is whispered among the terror mountain pound that her parents were poor neopians, without a neohome or more than 100np to their names. So Shanny's earliest memories were the bustling caregivers at the terror mountain pound and the lonely eyes of the other abandoned neopets...eyes that reflected her own lonliness.

In her early years at the pound, she was determined to get adopted. The friends she made always got adopted, why couldn't she? She was friendly to every stranger who wandered into the pound, looking for the right neopet. Finally, it paid off. Shanny smiled to herself, she was finally going home.

This was not the happy ending Shanny dreamed of however. The new couple who took her in were great parents at first, they went on walks to the neggery and went to shop at the garage sale, but the couple split up within a few months and both of them did not feel capable of taking on the young neopet by themselves.

Once again, Shanny found herself staring at the familiar scene of bustling caregivers and lonely neopets' eyes. Once again she heard the routine bell that rang for the luke warm lunches. Once again she heard baby neopets cry for their mothers at night. What had she done wrong? How did she end up here again? Shanny felt like crying, but tears no longer came. Her misery could not be demonstrated through tears anymore.

From then on, Shanny no longer tried to attract potential adopters. They could not hold the key to her happiness, the last adoption never gave her the stable happiness she craved. Shanny, who had always summoned a smile when she met potential adopters, faded into the woodwork. She remained at the orphanage, living in a swirl of noise, bells, and lonliness.
