This will be a really simple guide, I will show you how to make simple seamless tiled backgrounds using GIMP.

Many users want to tile images as backgrounds, unfortunately many images do not tile well and look really really really bad. I hope to be able to help you make them look better in the future.

Step One

Choose an image you want as your background. I am using image 1 as my background.

Image one

Step Two

Make sure that your image only has one layer. To make it only one layer go to Image and choose Flatten Image See image 2 for a sample.

Image Two

Step Three

Go to the Filters tab choose map then Make Seamless, see image 3.

Image Three

Step Four

Now you have a seamless background image. I suggest saving it as either a png or a jpg (with the quality moved all the way to 100 for a good crisp image).

Image Four

Step Five

Upload it to your image host of choice.

Step Six

Code it on your page using HTML or CSS coding.
