Hey there! Welcome to my blend tutorial. This tutorial is made in Photoshop but it is similar in PSP. You MUST credit me. If I find people are using my tutorial without mentioning they had help from it, I WILL take this down forever. (the idea for this blend tutorial came via neomail from divaisback)

Materials

you will need...

-Photoshop
-brushes (splats, text, swirls, grunge, etc) you can get some here.
-PATTERNS (you can download a lot at pootato.org)
-fonts. 04b_03 for your credit. Lindas Lament for the main text.
-basic knowledge of adobe
-textures (hybrid-genesis.net)

THE TUTORIAL

step one

In your photoshop/psp open up a 600 by 500 blank canvas. Ok I will use pictures from the movie, High School Musical, but you can use any pictures at all =D. This is just a guideline on how to make prettyful blends xD. These are the pictures I am using:

Ok and this is how i overlapped them.

step two

NOTE: DONT MERGE UNTIL YOUR FINISHED THE ACTUAL BLENDING. Now I am going to take the top picture (the one of Zac Efron holding his hands up carried by his team) and select it. Just click on that layer in the layers pallete. Now click on your lasso tool. Change the feather setting to 15px. Select around the area you want to delete and press delete. I deleted pretty much everything but Zac Efron. If you see a white spot where you deleted too much, undo, and don't delete that far into the picture. I now have this.

step three

Now we are going to click on the layer with the jumping cheerleaders. Click on your lasso tool again with it still at 15px feather. Select the part to delete, i did pretty much everything but the cheerleaders, and then delete it. Now i have:

step four

Now we are going to click on the layer with the cafeteria scene in the bottom right corner. Only part of this picture is still showing and that is in the middle of to the right a little. So select around that with your lasso tool on 15px feather and delete it. I have this now:

Now you are done the actual blending. You can now merge your layers. You can stop here, but continue on if you want to see how i add brushes, patterns, and textures to add flair. First, I duplicate the layer and put the duplicated layer on overlay, set that to 60% opacity. Then merge again. Sometimes overlaying can make it look blurry so if you need to sharpen your picture you can, but i think these pictures look ok without the extra sharpening so im not going to sharpen it. Now duplicate the now merged layers. On the duplicated layer, go to blending options. Click pattern overlay. Set the blending mode for the pattern to overlay. Pick your pattern. I usually go with diagonal stripes. I put the opacity on 40%. Then i merged the blend and the pattern layers together. Now I duplicated the layer and went to blending options. I did pattern overlay and put the pattern blend mode on overlay. I chose a blue star pattern, but you can choose anything extra (not black lines) pootato has some nice patterns. I put the opacity at 40% but the opacity will differ with each blend. Merge the layers again. Ok with the patterns I now have this.

step six

Ok now we're going to add textures. I go to hybrid-genesis.net. I used this texture

and put it on overlay. Now i have this textured blend

step seven

Time to add the text. I start with the title. For this I am going to put Roxxi on it. But you can put anything at all you want =D. I am going to put the text under the feet of the people in the top left corner picture because there is some empty space there. I write it in white (in font Lindas Lament) on size 115. Go to blending options. Click gradient overlay. I make my own gradient with the first color as red d61315 and the second color as yellow e1ac3a. I am going to also add a 1px black stroke and a dark red outer glow. Now i duplicate my text layer. Go to blending options and uncheck gradient overlay, stroke, and outer glow. Check off pattern overlay. Pick a pattern, i picked diagonal stripes. Put this whole layer on overlay at 30% opacity. Merge all layers. Now pick a corner to put your credit in. Write in 8px 04b03 font which you can download at dafont.com. Write something like this:

and put a 1px black stroke on it. Merge all your layers. Now we are going to add a black border. Go to Image--Canvas Size. Change the width and the height to 610 by 510. Make sure the canvas extension color is black. Now your done. Here is my finished blend.
